1 ¶ A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, because of all the ignorance.

Oración del profeta Habacuc. Sobre Sigionot.

2 O LORD, I have heard thy word and was afraid; O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the times; in the midst of the times make it known; in wrath remember mercy.

Señor, he oído hablar de tus hechos, y saberlo me llena de temor. Vuelve a actuar, Señor, en estos tiempos; date a conocer en nuestros días, y si te enojas, recuerda que eres compasivo.

3 ¶ God shall come from Teman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was filled with his praise.

¡Dios viene de Temán! ¡El Santo viene del monte de Parán! ¡Su gloria cubre los cielos! ¡La tierra se llena con su alabanza!

4 A nd his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand; and there was hidden his strength.

¡Su resplandor es como la luz! ¡Brillantes rayos salen de su mano! Allí está escondido su poder!

5 B efore his face went mortality, and burning coals went forth from his feet.

Avanza precedido de gran mortandad, y cierra su marcha ardiente fuego.

6 H e stood and measured the earth; he beheld and drove out the Gentiles; and the ancient mountains crumbled, the ancient hills; the ways of the world bowed unto him.

Si se detiene, la tierra se estremece; si lanza una mirada, tiemblan las naciones, las montañas eternas se desmoronan, y las colinas perennes se hunden. ¡Sus caminos son eternos!

7 I saw the tents of Cushan as nothing, and the curtains of the land of Midian trembled.

He visto aflicción en las tiendas de Cusán, y angustia en las tiendas de Madián.

8 O h LORD, wast thou displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath even against the sea when thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of saving health?

¿Te enojaste, Señor, contra los ríos? ¿Te airaste contra ellos? ¿Se desató tu furia contra el mar cuando montaste en tus caballos y subiste en tus carros de victoria?

9 T hy bow was entirely uncovered, and the oaths unto the tribes, eternal word, when thou didst divide the earth with rivers.

Al quedar tu arco al descubierto, pudo verse tu aljaba repleta de flechas. Con los ríos divides la tierra.

10 T he mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the waters passed by; the abyss uttered its voice; the deep lifted up its hands.

Los montes te ven, y tiemblan. Pasan las aguas y todo lo inundan; el mar profundo deja oír su voz, y las grandes olas se agitan.

11 T he sun and the moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went and at the shining of thy glittering spear.

Al ver el resplandor de tus saetas, y el brillo de tu deslumbrante lanza, el sol y la luna detienen su marcha.

12 T hou didst tread upon the land in wrath; thou didst thresh the Gentiles in anger.

En tu ira, pisoteas la tierra; en tu furor, aplastas a las naciones.

13 T hou didst go forth to save thy people, to save with thine anointed; thou didst shatter the head of the house of the wicked by uncovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.

Acudes al llamado de tu pueblo, y sales en ayuda de tu ungido. Abates la casa del jefe malvado, y lo dejas desnudo de pies a cabeza.

14 T hou didst strike through with his staffs the heads of his villages, who as a whirlwind attempted to scatter me; their pride was as to devour the poor secretly.

Horadas con sus propios dardos la cabeza de sus guerreros, que arremeten contra mí para que huya, y gozan devorando al pobre que se esconde.

15 T hou didst make a way through the sea for thine horses through the heap of great waters.

Tú cabalgas en el mar con tus caballos, y haces que se agiten las muchas aguas.

16 ¶ When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice; rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in my seat, that I might rest in the day of trouble when he comes up unto the people to destroy them.

Al oírte, se estremecen mis entrañas; mis labios tiemblan al escuchar tu voz. El mal me cala hasta los huesos, y en mi interior todo se estremece, pero yo espero confiado el día de la angustia, el día en que será invadido el pueblo que ahora nos oprime.

17 B ecause the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be on the vines; the labour of the olive shall lie, and the cultivated fields shall yield no food; the sheep shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

Aunque todavía no florece la higuera, ni hay uvas en los viñedos, ni hay tampoco aceitunas en los olivos, ni los campos han rendido sus cosechas; aunque no hay ovejas en los rediles ni vacas en los corrales,

18 y et I will rejoice in the LORD; I will joy in the God of my saving health.

yo me alegro por ti, Señor; ¡me regocijo en ti, Dios de mi salvación!

19 T he LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and upon my high places he will cause me to walk victorious in my instruments of music.
