1 ¶ And cause Aaron, thy brother, to come unto thee with his sons, from among the sons of Israel, that they may be my priests, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons.

»Harás que tu hermano Aarón y sus hijos Nadab, Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar, se presenten ante ti, para que de entre los hijos de Israel sean mis sacerdotes.

2 A nd thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron, thy brother, for honour and for beauty.

Harás vestiduras sagradas para tu hermano Aarón, que le confieran honra y hermosura.

3 A nd thou shalt speak unto all that are wise-hearted, whom I have filled with the Spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments to sanctify him, that he may be my priest.

Hablarás con todos aquellos a quienes he llenado de un corazón y de un espíritu sabio, para que hagan las vestiduras de Aarón y yo lo consagre como mi sacerdote.

4 A nd these are the garments which they shall make: the pectoral, the ephod, the robe, the broidered coat, the mitre, and the girdle. Therefore let them make the holy garments for Aaron, thy brother, and his sons, that they may be my priests.

Éstas son las vestiduras que deberán hacer: el pectoral, el efod, el manto, la túnica bordada, la mitra y el cinturón. Háganse, pues, las vestiduras sagradas para tu hermano Aarón, y para sus hijos, para que sean mis sacerdotes.

5 A nd they shall take gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine linen,

»Tomarán oro, azul, púrpura, carmesí y lino torcido,

6 ¶ and they shall make the ephod of gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work.

y harán el efod bellamente trabajado, con oro, azul, púrpura, carmesí y lino torcido.

7 I t shall have its two shoulderpieces joined at the two edges thereof, and so it shall be joined together.

Deberá tener dos hombreras, las cuales se unirán a sus dos extremos.

8 A nd the special girdle of the ephod, which shall be over it, shall be of its same workmanship, of the same materials: of gold, blue, purple, scarlet and fine twined linen.

El cinto que estará sobre él debe confeccionarse de la misma manera, es decir, debe estar bellamente trabajado, con oro, azul, púrpura, carmesí y lino torcido, y ser parte del mismo.

9 A nd thou shalt take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel:

»Tomarás dos piedras de ónice, y grabarás en ellas los nombres de los hijos de Israel,

10 S ix of their names on one stone and the other six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth.

seis nombres en una piedra, y seis nombres en la otra piedra, en su orden de nacimiento.

11 W ith the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a seal, shalt thou engrave those two stones with the names of the sons of Israel; thou shalt make them to be set in settings of gold.

Mandarás grabar en las dos piedras los nombres de los hijos de Israel, y mandarás también engarzarlas en oro. El trabajo debe hacerlo un orfebre experto en sellos y grabados.

12 A nd thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial unto the sons of Israel, and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial.

Pondrás las dos piedras sobre las hombreras del efod. Serán piedras memoriales, para que Aarón lleve sobre sus hombros los nombres de los hijos de Israel y haga memoria de ellos delante del Señor.

13 A nd thou shalt make the settings of gold

Los engastes los harás de oro,

14 a nd two small chains of pure gold; of wreathen work shalt thou make them and fasten the wreathen chains to the settings.

con dos cordones de oro fino en forma de trenza, los cuales fijarás en los engastes.

15 ¶ And in the same manner thou shalt make the pectoral of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it, of gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and of fine twined linen.

»Harás también el pectoral del juicio, que debe estar bellamente trabajado y hecho igual que el efod, es decir, de oro, azul, púrpura, carmesí y lino torcido.

16 I t shall be square and double; a span shall be the length thereof, and a span shall be the breadth thereof.

El efod debe ser cuadrado y doble, de veintidós centímetros de largo y veintidós centímetros de ancho.

17 A nd thou shalt fill it with four rows of stones; The order shall be a ruby, an emerald, and a chrysolite; this shall be the first order.

Llénalo con cuatro hileras de piedras preciosas. La primera hilera tendrá una piedra sárdica, un topacio y un carbunclo;

18 A nd the second order shall be a carbuncle, a sapphire, and a diamond.

la segunda hilera, una esmeralda, un zafiro y un diamante;

19 A nd the third order, a topaz, a turquoise, and an amethyst.

la tercera hilera, un jacinto, una ágata y una amatista,

20 A nd the fourth row a tarshish (or beryl) and an onyx and a jasper; they shall be set in gold in their inclosings.

y la cuarta hilera, un berilo, un ónice y un jaspe. Todas deben estar engarzadas en oro,

21 A nd those stones shall be in agreement with the names of the sons of Israel, twelve, in agreement with their names; each one in agreement with his name like the engravings of a seal; they shall be according to the twelve tribes.

y tener grabados a manera de sellos los nombres de los doce hijos de Israel. Cada piedra debe tener grabado uno de los doce nombres de las doce tribus.

22 A nd thou shalt also make upon the pectoral small chains of wreathen work of pure gold.

»Harás también para el pectoral cordones de oro fino trenzado,

23 A nd thou shalt make upon the pectoral two rings of gold and shalt put the two rings on the two ends of the pectoral.

y en sus dos extremos le pondrás dos anillos de oro.

24 A nd thou shalt put the two wreathen chains of gold in the two rings which are on the ends of the pectoral.

Fijarás los dos cordones de oro en los dos anillos, a los dos extremos del pectoral,

25 A nd the other two ends of the two wreathen chains thou shalt fasten in the two settings and put them on the shoulderpieces of the ephod on the front of it.

y pondrás los extremos de los dos cordones sobre los dos engastes, fijándolos a las hombreras del efod por la parte delantera.

26 T hou shalt also make two rings of gold, and thou shalt put them upon the two ends of the pectoral in the border thereof, which is in the side of the ephod inward.

»Harás también dos anillos de oro, los cuales pondrás a los dos extremos del pectoral, por dentro de la orilla que está al lado del efod.

27 L ikewise two other rings of gold thou shalt make and shalt put them on the two sides of the ephod underneath, toward the front part thereof, over against the other coupling thereof, above the special girdle of the ephod.

Harás también los dos anillos de oro, los cuales fijarás por abajo de la parte delantera de las dos hombreras del efod, por delante de donde se junta con el cinto del efod.

28 A nd they shall bind the pectoral by its rings unto the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that it may be above the special girdle of the ephod and that the pectoral not be loosed from the ephod.

Con un cordón de azul se juntarán los dos anillos del pectoral con los dos anillos del efod, para que se ajusten al cinto del efod, y el pectoral no se separe del efod.

29 A nd Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel in the pectoral of judgment upon his heart when he goes in unto the sanctuary for a memorial before the LORD continually.

Cuando Aarón entre en el santuario, llevará siempre en el pectoral del juicio, sobre su corazón, los nombres de los hijos de Israel, como memorial delante del Señor.

30 A nd thou shalt put in the pectoral of judgment Urim and Thummim, that they shall be upon Aaron’s heart when he goes in before the LORD; and Aaron shall always bear the judgment of the sons of Israel upon his heart before the LORD.

En el pectoral del juicio pondrás el Urim y el Tumim, para que cuando Aarón se presente ante el Señor, lleve siempre sobre su corazón el juicio de los hijos de Israel.

31 ¶ And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod all of blue.

»El manto del efod lo harás todo de azul,

32 A nd it shall have the collar of his head in the midst thereof, which shall have a binding of woven work round about it, as the collar of a habergeon, that it not be rent.

con una abertura en el centro y por arriba, y en su derredor deberá tener un borde tejido artísticamente, a manera del cuello de un coselete, para que no se rompa.

33 A nd beneath upon the hem of it, thou shalt make pomegranates of blue and of purple and of scarlet round about the hem thereof and bells of gold between them round about.

Alrededor de sus orlas harás granadas de azul, púrpura y carmesí, y entre las granadas pondrás campanillas de oro,

34 A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate upon the hem of the robe round about.

es decir, una campanilla de oro y una granada, otra campanilla de oro y otra granada, hasta rodear toda la orla del manto.

35 A nd it shall be upon Aaron to minister, and his sound shall be heard when he goes in unto the sanctuary before the LORD and when he comes out, that he not die.

Aarón deberá llevar puesto el efod cuando ministre, para que el sonido de las campanillas pueda oírse cuando él entre o salga del santuario, y mientras esté delante del Señor, para que no muera.

36 T hou shalt also make an open flower of pure gold and engrave upon it the engravings of a seal, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD.

»Harás también una placa de oro fino, y en ella grabarás, a manera de sello, CONSAGRADO AL SEÑOR.

37 A nd thou shalt put it on with a blue lace that it may be upon the mitre; upon the forefront of the mitre it shall be.

Con un cordón de azul sujetarás la placa por la parte delantera de la mitra, y allí se quedará.

38 A nd it shall be upon Aaron’s forehead that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the sons of Israel shall sanctify in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead that they may find grace before the LORD.

Siempre deberá estar sobre la frente de Aarón, para que éste presente ante el Señor las faltas que los hijos de Israel hayan cometido en todo lo relacionado con las santas ofrendas que ellos consagren, y sean perdonados.

39 A nd thou shalt embroider the coat of fine linen, and thou shalt make the mitre of fine linen, and thou shalt make the girdle of needlework.

»Bordarás una túnica de lino, y harás también una mitra de lino, y un cinto recamado artísticamente.

40 ¶ And for Aaron’s sons thou shalt make coats; thou shalt also make girdles for them, and tiaras shalt thou make for them, for honour and for beauty.

»Para los hijos de Aarón harás también túnicas, cintos y tiaras que les confieran honra y hermosura.

41 A nd with these thou shalt clothe Aaron, thy brother, and his sons with him and shalt anoint them and fill their hands and sanctify them that they may be my priests.

Con todo ello vestirás a tu hermano Aarón y a sus hijos. Los ungirás, y los consagrarás y santificarás, para que sean mis sacerdotes.

42 A nd thou shalt make them linen underwear to cover their nakedness; they shall reach from the loins even unto the thighs;

Les harás calzoncillos de lino para que cubran su desnudez desde la cintura hasta el muslo.

43 A nd they shall be upon Aaron and upon his sons when they enter into the tabernacle of the testimony or when they come near unto the altar to serve in the sanctuary that they not bear iniquity and die: This shall be a perpetual statute unto him and his seed after him.

Estas vestiduras las llevarán puestas Aarón y sus hijos cuando entren en el tabernáculo de reunión, o cuando se acerquen al altar para servir en el santuario, para que no cometan un pecado y mueran. Éste es un estatuto perpetuo para Aarón y sus descendientes.
