1 ¶ And Jacob called unto his sons and said, Gather yourselves together that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.

Jacob llamó a sus hijos, y les dijo: «Júntense, que voy a hacerles saber lo que va a sucederles en los días finales.

2 G ather yourselves together and hear, ye sons of Jacob, and hearken unto Israel your father.

»Júntense y escuchen, hijos de Jacob; escuchen a Israel, su padre.

3 R euben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, principal in dignity, and the principal in power.

»Tú, Rubén, eres mi primogénito, mi fortaleza, el principio de mi vigor; eres excelente en dignidad y en poder,

4 U nstable as water, thou shalt not be principal because thou didst go up to thy father’s bed; then thou became defiled, going up to my couch.

e impetuoso como las aguas. Pero ya no serás el principal, porque usurpaste el lecho de tu padre; ¡te envileciste al usurpar mi estrado!

5 ¶ Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of injustice are their weapons.

»Simeón y Leví son chacales; sus espadas son armas de violencia.

6 L et my soul not enter into their secret; nor let my honour join their assembly; for in their anger they slew a man, and in their own will they dug down a wall.

Que no entre mi alma en sus reuniones, Ni mi honra se mezcle en su compañía. Porque en su enojo mataron hombres, Y por capricho desjarretaron toros.

7 C ursed be their anger, which is strong, and their wrath, which is hard; I will divide them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel.

Maldito sea su furor, tan tenaz, Y su enojo, tan implacable. Yo los dividiré en Jacob, Y los dispersaré en Israel.

8 ¶ Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise; thy hand shall be on the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s sons shall bow down before thee.

»A ti, Judá, te alabarán tus hermanos; Sujetarás a tus enemigos por el cuello, y los hijos de tu padre se inclinarán ante ti.

9 J udah is a lion’s whelp; from the prey, my son, thou art gone up; he stooped down, he couched as a lion and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?

Tú, Judá, eres un cachorro de león; tú, hijo mío, te apartaste de tu presa. Te encorvas, te echas como león; te asemejas a un león viejo. ¿Quién se atreverá a despertarte?

10 T he sceptre shall not be taken from Judah, nor the lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh comes; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

No se te quitará el cetro, Judá; Ni el símbolo de poder de entre tus pies, hasta que venga Siloh y en torno a él se congreguen los pueblos.

11 B inding his foal unto the vine and his ass’s colt unto the choice roots; he washed his garments in wine and his covering in the blood of grapes;

Con tu pollino atado a una vid, con tu borrico atado a una cepa, lavarás tus vestidos en vino, y en la sangre de las uvas tu manto,

12 H is eyes red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.

con los ojos rojos por el vino y los dientes blancos por la leche.

13 ¶ Zebulun shall dwell at the port of the sea; and he shall be for a port of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.

»Zabulón habitará en puertos de mar; Será un puerto para las naves, Y sus límites llegarán hasta Sidón.

14 I ssachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens;

»Isacar es un asno arisco Que se recuesta entre los campamentos.

15 a nd he saw that rest was good and the land that it was pleasant and bowed his shoulder to bear and became a servant unto tribute.

Cuando probó lo bueno del descanso y las delicias de la tierra, doblegó sus hombros ante la carga Y se entregó al trabajo de esclavos.

16 D an shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.

»Dan juzgará a su pueblo, Como una de las tribus de Israel.

17 D an shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that bites the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.

Dan será como una serpiente, como una víbora junto al camino, Que muerde los talones del caballo, Y hace caer de bruces al jinete.

18 I have waited for thy saving health, O LORD.

»¡Tu salvación espero, oh Señor!

19 G ad, an army shall invade him, but he shall invade at the last.

»A Gad lo atacarán unos bandoleros, Pero él les devolverá el ataque.

20 O ut of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield delight unto the king.

»El pan de Aser será sustancioso; él brindará deleites dignos de un rey.

21 N aphtali is a hind let loose, who shall give forth a good word.

»Neftalí es una cierva desatada, madre de hermosos cervatos.

22 ¶ Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a fountain, whose daughters run over the wall.

»José es una rama con frutos, rama con frutos junto a una fuente, cuyos vástagos cubren todo el muro.

23 T he arches have sorely grieved him and shot at him and hated him;

Los arqueros lo hostilizan, y en su odio le lanzan flechas;

24 b ut his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the Mighty one of Jacob; from there did the stone of Israel shepherd,

pero su arco se queda tenso, Y los brazos se les entumecen ante el poder del Fuerte de Jacob (ante el nombre del Pastor, la Roca de Israel),

25 b y the God of thy father, who shall help thee, and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of the heavens above, with blessings of the deep that lies under, with blessings of the breasts and of the womb.

ante el Dios de tu padre, que te ayudará, ante el Dios Omnipotente, que te bendecirá con bendiciones de los altos cielos, con bendiciones del abismo profundo, con bendiciones de los pechos y del vientre.

26 T he blessings of thy father were greater than the blessings of my progenitors; unto the borders of the eternal hills they shall be upon the head of Joseph and on the crown of the Nazarite of his brethren.

Fueron más las bendiciones de tu padre que las bendiciones de mis progenitores. Aun lo deseable de los montes eternos bajará sobre la cabeza de José, sobre la frente del príncipe de sus hermanos.

27 B enjamin, ravening wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and in the evening he shall divide the spoil.

»Benjamín es un lobo rapaz que por la mañana se come la presa y por la tarde reparte los despojos.» Muerte y sepelio de Jacob

28 ¶ All these were the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke unto them and blessed them; each one according to his blessing he blessed them.

Éstas son todas las doce tribus de Israel, y esto es lo que su padre les dijo al bendecirlos. A cada tribu le dio su bendición.

29 A nd he charged them and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people; bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron, the Hittite,

Luego les dio esta orden: «Yo estoy por reunirme con mi pueblo. Sepúltenme con mis padres en la cueva que está en el campo de Efrón el hitita.

30 i n the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron, the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.

Es la cueva que está en el campo de Macpela, frente a Mamre, en la tierra de Canaán. Abrahán la compró, junto con el campo mismo de Efrón el hitita, para sepultura hereditaria.

Allí sepultaron a Abrahán y a Sara, su mujer; allí sepultaron a Isaac y a Rebeca, su mujer; allí también sepulté yo a Lea.

32 T he purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the sons of Heth.

El campo y la cueva que está en él, era de los hititas, pero fue comprada de ellos.»

33 A nd when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed and expired and was gathered unto his people.

Y cuando Jacob terminó de dar instrucciones a sus hijos, encogió sus pies en la cama y expiró. Así fue a reunirse con sus antepasados.
