1 ¶ Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars.

¡Líbano, abre tus puertas de par en par, para que el fuego consuma tus cedros!

2 H owl, fir tree, for the cedar is fallen because the magnificent are cut down; howl, O ye oaks of Bashan, for the strong mountain is brought down.

Y tú ciprés, ¡llora por la caída de los cedros, por tus imponentes árboles derribados! ¡Lloren también ustedes, encinas de Basán, por sus espesos bosques que han sido talados!

3 T here is a voice of the howling of the pastors; for their magnificence is destroyed; a voice of the roaring of young lions, for the pride of the Jordan is destroyed.

¡Dejen oír sus voces de dolor, pastores, porque sus ricos pastos han sido asolados! ¡Lancen al aire sus rugidos, leoncillos, que el esplendor del Jordán llegó a su fin! Los pastores inútiles

4 ¶ Thus hath the LORD my God said, Feed the flock of the slaughter,

Así me dijo el Señor mi Dios: «Cuida de las ovejas que van al matadero,

5 w hose buyers slayed them and held themselves not guilty; and he that sold them said, Blessed be the LORD; for I am rich: and not even their own shepherds had compassion on them.

a las que ni sus pastores compadecen; a las que sus compradores matan sin sentirse culpables, y quienes las venden, exclaman: “¡Bendito sea el Señor, pues ahora soy rico!”

6 T herefore I will no longer pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD; but, behold, I will deliver the men each one into his neighbour’s hand and into the hand of his king; and they shall smite the land, and I will not deliver them out of their hands.

Por eso, no voy a tener ya compasión de los habitantes de la tierra. Más bien, voy a entregarlos en manos de sus propios compañeros y de su rey. Y aunque éstos destruyan el país, yo no los libraré de sus manos.» —Palabra del Señor.

7 A nd I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. For I took unto me two staves: the one I named Beauty, and the other Bands; and I fed the flock.

Me dediqué, entonces, a cuidar de las ovejas para el matadero, es decir, de los pobres del rebaño. Me hice dos cayados; a uno de ellos lo llamé «Gracia», y al otro «Ataduras»; y me dediqué a cuidar de las ovejas.

8 I also cut off three shepherds in one month; and my soul was in anguish for them, and their soul also abhorred me.

En un mes destruí a tres pastores, pues perdí la paciencia con ellos, y también ellos se cansaron de mí.

9 T hen I said, I will not feed you any longer; the one that dies, let it die; and the one that is to be lost, let it be lost; and let the rest eat each one the flesh of another.

Entonces les dije: «Ya no voy a cuidar de ustedes. La que deba morir, que se muera; la que haya de perderse, que se pierda; y las que queden con vida, que cada una se coma la carne de su compañera.»

10 A nd I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the peoples.

Luego tomé mi cayado «Gracia», y lo quebré, para romper así el pacto que había concertado con todos los pueblos.

11 A nd it was broken in that day; and so the poor of the flock that look unto me knew that it was the word of the LORD.

Ese día el pacto quedó deshecho, y así los pobres del rebaño que me miraban se dieron cuenta de que ésta era palabra del Señor.

12 A nd I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my wages; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver.

Entonces les dije: «Si les parece bien, denme mi salario. De lo contrario, déjenlo así.» Y el pago que me dieron fue de treinta monedas de plata.

13 A nd the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the treasury: a goodly price that I was appraised at by them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver and cast them in the house of the LORD unto the treasury.

Y el Señor me dijo: «¡Vaya precio el que me han puesto! ¡Échalo al tesoro!» Y yo tomé las treinta monedas de plata y las eché al tesoro del templo del Señor

14 T hen I cut asunder my other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

Luego quebré el otro cayado, es decir, «Ataduras», con lo que rompí la relación de hermanos entre Judá e Israel.

15 ¶ And the LORD said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.

Después el Señor me dijo: «Ponte ahora la vestimenta de un pastor con poca inteligencia,

16 F or, behold, I raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that are lost, neither shall seek the young one nor heal the one that is broken nor carry the one that is tired, but he shall eat the flesh of the fat and tear their hoofs in pieces.

pues voy a hacer que se levante en la tierra un pastor que no se preocupará por las ovejas perdidas, ni irá en busca de las pequeñas, ni curará a las que se rompan una pata, ni llevará a cuestas a la que se canse, sino que se comerá a las ovejas más gordas, y les romperá las pezuñas.»

17 W oe to the useless pastor that leaves the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm and upon his right eye; his arm shall be completely dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

¡Ay del pastor inútil que abandona el ganado! ¡Que una espada le hiera en el brazo y en el ojo derecho! ¡Que todo el brazo le quede tullido, y que pierda la vista de su ojo derecho!
