1 ¶ Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me.

«No se turbe su corazón. Ustedes creen en Dios; crean también en mí.

2 I n my Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

En la casa de mi Padre hay muchos aposentos. Si así no fuera, ya les hubiera dicho. Así que voy a preparar lugar para ustedes.

3 A nd if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Y si me voy y les preparo lugar, vendré otra vez, y los llevaré conmigo, para que donde yo esté, también ustedes estén.

4 ¶ So that ye know where I go, and ye know the way.

Y ustedes saben a dónde voy, y saben el camino.»

5 T homas said unto him, Lord, we know not where thou goest; how, therefore, can we know the way?

Tomás le dijo: «Señor, no sabemos a dónde vas; ¿cómo podemos saber el camino?»

6 J esus said unto him, I AM the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes unto the Father, but by me.

Jesús le dijo: «Yo soy el camino, y la verdad, y la vida; nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí.

7 I f ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also; and from now on ye know him and have seen him.

Si me conocieran, también conocerían a mi Padre; y desde ahora lo conocen, y lo han visto.»

8 P hilip said unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it will suffice us.

Felipe le dijo: «Señor, muéstranos el Padre. Con eso nos basta.»

9 J esus said unto him, Have I been such a long time with you, and yet thou hast not known me, Philip? He that has seen me has seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

Jesús le dijo: «Hace ya tanto tiempo que estoy con ustedes, ¿y tú, Felipe, no me has conocido? El que me ha visto a mí, ha visto al Padre; ¿cómo entonces dices: “Muéstranos al Padre”?

10 B elievest thou not that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself; but the Father that dwells in me, he does the works.

¿No crees que yo estoy en el Padre, y que el Padre está en mí? Las palabras que yo les hablo, no las hablo por mi propia cuenta, sino que el Padre, que vive en mí, es quien hace las obras.

11 B elieve me that I am in the Father and the Father in me, or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

Créanme que yo estoy en el Padre, y que el Padre está en mí; de otra manera, créanme por las obras mismas.

12 ¶ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes in me, the works that I do he shall do also; and greater works than these shall he do because I go unto my Father.

»De cierto, de cierto les digo: El que cree en mí, hará también las obras que yo hago; y aun mayores obras hará, porque yo voy al Padre.

13 A nd whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Y todo lo que pidan al Padre en mi nombre, lo haré, para que el Padre sea glorificado en el Hijo.

14 I f ye ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Si algo piden en mi nombre, yo lo haré. La promesa del Espíritu Santo

15 ¶ If ye love me, keep my commandments;

»Si me aman, obedezcan mis mandamientos.

16 a nd I will ask the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever,

Y yo rogaré al Padre, y él les dará otro Consolador, para que esté con ustedes para siempre:

17 e ven the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it does not see him, or know him; but ye know him, for he dwells with you and shall be in you.

es decir, el Espíritu de verdad, al cual el mundo no puede recibir porque no lo ve, ni lo conoce; pero ustedes lo conocen, porque permanece con ustedes, y estará en ustedes.

18 ¶ I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

»No los dejaré huérfanos; vendré a ustedes.

19 Y et a little while, and the world shall see me no more, but ye shall see me; because I live, ye shall live also.

Dentro de poco, el mundo no me verá más; pero ustedes me verán; y porque yo vivo, ustedes también vivirán.

20 A t that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

En aquel día ustedes sabrán que yo estoy en mi Padre, y que ustedes están en mí, y que yo estoy en ustedes.

21 H e that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me; and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him.

El que tiene mis mandamientos, y los obedece, ése es el que me ama; y el que me ama, será amado por mi Padre, y yo lo amaré, y me manifestaré a él.»

22 J udas, not Iscariot, said unto him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us and not unto the world?

Judas (pero no el Iscariote) le dijo: «Señor, ¿cómo es que te manifestarás a nosotros, y no al mundo?»

23 J esus answered and said unto him, He who loves me will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him and dwell with him.

Jesús le respondió: «El que me ama, obedecerá mi palabra; y mi Padre lo amará, y vendremos a él, y con él nos quedaremos a vivir.

24 H e that does not love me does not keep my words, and the word which ye have heard is not mine, but of the Father who sent me.

El que no me ama, no obedece mis palabras; y la palabra que han oído no es mía, sino del Padre que me envió.

25 ¶ I have spoken these things unto you, being yet present with you.

»Les he dicho estas cosas mientras estoy con ustedes.

26 B ut the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all the things that I have said unto you.

Pero el Espíritu Santo, a quien el Padre enviará en mi nombre, los consolará y les enseñará todas las cosas, y les recordará todo lo que yo les he dicho.

27 P eace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

»La paz les dejo, mi paz les doy; yo no la doy como el mundo la da. No dejen que su corazón se turbe y tenga miedo.

28 ¶ Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice because I said, I go unto the Father; for my Father is greater than I.

Ya me han oído decir que me voy, pero que vuelvo a ustedes. Si ustedes me amaran, se habrían regocijado de que voy al Padre, porque el Padre es mayor que yo.

29 A nd now I have told you before it comes to pass, that when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

Y les he dicho esto ahora, antes de que suceda, para que cuando suceda, ustedes crean.

30 H ereafter I will not talk much with you, for the prince of this world comes and has nothing in me.

Ya no hablaré mucho con ustedes, pues viene el príncipe de este mundo, que ningún poder tiene sobre mí.

31 B ut that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

Pero para que el mundo sepa que amo al Padre, hago todo tal y como el Padre me lo ordenó. Levántense, vámonos de aquí.
