1 ¶ Come, and let us return unto the LORD; for he has torn, and he will heal us; he has smitten, and he will bind us up.

¡Vengan, volvamos nuestros ojos al Señor! Ciertamente él nos arrebató, pero nos sanará; nos hirió, pero vendará nuestras heridas;

2 A fter two days he shall give us life: in the third day he will resurrect us, and we shall live in his sight.

Después de dos días nos dará vida, y al tercer día nos resucitará para que vivamos en su presencia.

3 A nd we shall know and follow on in knowing the LORD; his going forth is prepared as the dawn; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

Entonces conoceremos al Señor, y más y más lo iremos conociendo. Vendrá a nuestro encuentro como la luz del alba, como vienen a la tierra las lluvias tempranas y las lluvias tardías.

4 ¶ O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? Your mercy is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goes away.

«¿Qué voy a hacer contigo, Efraín? ¿Y qué voy a hacer contigo, Judá? La piedad de ustedes es como una nube matutina; es como el rocío del amanecer, que pronto se desvanece.

5 T herefore I have hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: that thy righteousness be as the light that goes forth.

Por eso los hice pedazos por medio de los profetas. Los aniquilé con las palabras de mi boca. La sentencia contra ustedes brotó como la luz.

6 F or I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Lo que yo quiero es misericordia, y no sacrificio; ¡conocimiento de Dios, más que holocaustos!

7 B ut they have transposed the covenant as of men: there they have rebelled against me.

»Pero ellos, como antes Adán, no respetaron mi pacto, sino que pecaron contra mí.

8 G ilead is a city of those that work iniquity and is polluted with blood.

Tú, Galaad, eres una ciudad de malhechores; estás manchada de sangre.

9 A nd as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the council of priests murder in the way by common accord; for they put the abomination into effect.

Así como los ladrones están al acecho de su víctima, así también una pandilla de sacerdotes mata en el camino a Siquén, con lo que incurren en un hecho repugnante.

10 I saw uncleanness in the house of Israel: there Ephraim played the harlot, Israel defiled herself.

En la casa de Israel he visto acciones asquerosas. Allí se prostituyó Efraín, y se contaminó Israel.

11 A lso, Judah placed a plant in thee when I had turned the captivity of my people.

»Pero también para ti, Judá, tengo preparado el momento de la siega. Y esto lo haré cuando haga volver del cautiverio a mi pueblo.
