1 ¶ Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy mercy; according unto the multitude of thy compassion eradicate my rebellion.

Dios mío, por tu gran misericordia, ¡ten piedad de mí!; por tu infinita bondad, ¡borra mis rebeliones!

2 W ash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

Lávame más y más de mi maldad; ¡límpiame de mi pecado!

3 F or I acknowledge my rebellion; and my sin is ever before me.

Reconozco que he sido rebelde; ¡mi pecado está siempre ante mis ojos!

4 A gainst thee, against thee only, have I sinned and done this evil in thy sight that thou be declared just in thy word and pure in thy judgment.

Contra ti, y sólo contra ti, he pecado; ¡ante tus propios ojos he hecho lo malo! Eso justifica plenamente tu sentencia, y demuestra que tu juicio es impecable.

5 B ehold, the pain of my iniquity has caused me to writhe; my mother conceived me so that sin might be removed from me.

¡Mírame! ¡Yo fui formado en la maldad! ¡Mi madre me concibió en pecado!

6 B ehold, thou dost desire truth in the inward parts, and in the secret things thou hast made me to know wisdom.

¡Mírame! Tú amas la verdad en lo íntimo; ¡haz que en lo secreto comprenda tu sabiduría!

7 ¶ Remove the sin in me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

¡Purifícame con hisopo, y estaré limpio! ¡Lávame, y estaré más blanco que la nieve!

8 M ake me to hear joy and gladness that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

¡Lléname de gozo y alegría, y revivirán estos huesos que has abatido!

9 H ide thy face from my sins and eradicate all my iniquities.

No te fijes ya en mis pecados; más bien, borra todas mis maldades.

10 C reate in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Dios mío, ¡crea en mí un corazón limpio! ¡Renueva en mí un espíritu de rectitud!

11 C ast me not away from thy presence and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.

¡No me despidas de tu presencia, ni quites de mí tu santo espíritu!

12 R estore unto me the joy of thy saving health, and thy spirit of liberty shall uphold me.

¡Devuélveme el gozo de tu salvación! ¡Dame un espíritu dispuesto a obedecerte!

13 T hen I will teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

Así instruiré a los pecadores en tus caminos; así los pecadores se volverán a ti.

14 ¶ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

Dios mío, Dios de mi salvación, ¡líbrame de derramar sangre, y mi lengua proclamará tu justicia!

15 O Lord, open my lips; and my mouth shall show forth thy praise.

Abre, Señor, mis labios, y mi boca proclamará tu alabanza.

16 F or thou dost not desire sacrifice or else would I give it; thou dost not delight in burnt offering.

Aún si yo te ofreciera sacrificios, no es eso lo que quieres; ¡no te agradan los holocaustos!

17 T he sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Los sacrificios que tú quieres son el espíritu quebrantado; tú, Dios mío, no desprecias al corazón contrito y humillado.

18 D o good in thy good pleasure unto Zion; build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

Por tu bondad, trata bien a Sión; ¡reconstruye las murallas de Jerusalén!

19 T hen thou shalt be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, the burnt offering, the offering that has been totally consumed by the fire; then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

Te agradarás entonces con los sacrificios que mereces, con los holocaustos y ofrendas del todo quemadas; se ofrecerán entonces becerros sobre tu altar.
