1 ¶ Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy mercy; according unto the multitude of thy compassion eradicate my rebellion.

(Ein Psalm Davids, vorzusingen; da der Prophet Nathan zu ihm kam, als er war zu Bath-Seba eingegangen.) Gott, sei mir gnädig nach deiner Güte und tilge meine Sünden nach deiner großen Barmherzigkeit.

2 W ash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

Wasche mich wohl von meiner Missetat und reinige mich von meiner Sünde.

3 F or I acknowledge my rebellion; and my sin is ever before me.

Denn ich erkenne meine Missetat, und meine Sünde ist immer vor mir.

4 A gainst thee, against thee only, have I sinned and done this evil in thy sight that thou be declared just in thy word and pure in thy judgment.

An dir allein habe ich gesündigt und übel vor dir getan, auf daß du recht behaltest in deinen Worten und rein bleibest, wenn du gerichtet wirst.

5 B ehold, the pain of my iniquity has caused me to writhe; my mother conceived me so that sin might be removed from me.

Siehe, ich bin in sündlichem Wesen geboren, und meine Mutter hat mich in Sünden empfangen.

6 B ehold, thou dost desire truth in the inward parts, and in the secret things thou hast made me to know wisdom.

Siehe, du hast Lust zur Wahrheit, die im Verborgenen liegt; du lässest mich wissen die heimliche Weisheit.

7 ¶ Remove the sin in me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Entsündige mich mit Isop, daß ich rein werde; wasche mich, daß ich schneeweiß werde.

8 M ake me to hear joy and gladness that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

Laß mich hören Freude und Wonne, daß die Gebeine fröhlich werden, die du zerschlagen hast.

9 H ide thy face from my sins and eradicate all my iniquities.

Verbirg dein Antlitz von meinen Sünden und tilge alle meine Missetaten.

10 C reate in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Schaffe in mir, Gott, ein reines Herz und gib mir einen neuen, gewissen Geist.

11 C ast me not away from thy presence and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.

Verwirf mich nicht von deinem Angesicht und nimm deinen heiligen Geist nicht von mir.

12 R estore unto me the joy of thy saving health, and thy spirit of liberty shall uphold me.

Tröste mich wieder mit deiner Hilfe, und mit einem freudigen Geist rüste mich aus.

13 T hen I will teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

Ich will die Übertreter deine Wege lehren, daß sich die Sünder zu dir bekehren.

14 ¶ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

Errette mich von den Blutschulden, Gott, der du mein Gott und Heiland bist, daß meine Zunge deine Gerechtigkeit rühme.

15 O Lord, open my lips; and my mouth shall show forth thy praise.

Herr, tue meine Lippen auf, daß mein Mund deinen Ruhm verkündige.

16 F or thou dost not desire sacrifice or else would I give it; thou dost not delight in burnt offering.

Denn du hast nicht Lust zum Opfer, ich wollte dir's sonst wohl geben, und Brandopfer gefallen dir nicht.

17 T he sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Die Opfer, die Gott gefallen, sind ein geängsteter Geist; ein geängstet und zerschlagen Herz wirst du, Gott, nicht verachten.

18 D o good in thy good pleasure unto Zion; build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

Tue wohl an Zion nach deiner Gnade; baue die Mauern zu Jerusalem.

19 T hen thou shalt be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, the burnt offering, the offering that has been totally consumed by the fire; then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

Dann werden dir gefallen die Opfer der Gerechtigkeit, die Brandopfer und ganzen Opfer; dann wird man Farren auf deinem Altar opfern.
