1 ¶ Aleph Do not be angry with the evildoers, neither be thou envious of the workers of iniquity.

(Ein Psalm Davids.) Erzürne dich nicht über die Bösen; sei nicht neidisch auf die Übeltäter.

2 F or they shall soon be cut down like the grass and wither as the green herb.

Denn wie das Gras werden sie bald abgehauen, und wie das grüne Kraut werden sie verwelken.

3 B eth Wait in the LORD and do good; live in the land and uphold the truth.

Hoffe auf den HERRN und tue Gutes; bleibe im Lande und nähre dich redlich.

4 I n the same manner delight thyself in the LORD, and he shall give thee the desires of thy heart.

Habe Deine Lust am HERRN; der wird dir geben, was dein Herz wünschet.

5 G imel Turn thy way unto the LORD and wait in him, and he shall bring it to pass.

Befiehl dem HERRN deine Wege und hoffe auf ihn; er wird's wohl machen

6 A nd he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light and thy uprightness as the noonday.

und wird deine Gerechtigkeit hervorbringen wie das Licht und dein Recht wie den Mittag.

7 ¶ Daleth Be silent before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not be angry with him who prospers in his way, with the man who brings wicked devices to pass.

Sei stille dem HERRN und warte auf ihn; erzürne dich nicht über den, dem sein Mutwille glücklich fortgeht.

8 H e Cease from anger and forsake wrath: let not thy wrath in any wise cause you to become evil.

Steh ab vom Zorn und laß den Grimm, erzürne dich nicht, daß du nicht auch übel tust.

9 F or evildoers shall be cut off; but those that wait for the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

Denn die Bösen werden ausgerottet; die aber des HERRN harren, werden das Land erben.

10 V au For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be; thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

Es ist noch um ein kleines, so ist der Gottlose nimmer; und wenn du nach seiner Stätte sehen wirst, wird er weg sein.

11 B ut the meek shall inherit the earth and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Aber die Elenden werden das Land erben und Lust haben in großem Frieden.

12 Z ain The wicked plots against the just and gnashes upon him with his teeth.

Der Gottlose droht dem Gerechten und beißt seine Zähne zusammen über ihn.

13 T he Lord shall laugh at him, for he sees that his day is coming.

Aber der HERR lacht sein; denn er sieht, daß sein Tag kommt.

14 H e The wicked have drawn out the sword and have bent their bow to cast down the poor and needy and to slay such as are of upright conversation.

Die Gottlosen ziehen das Schwert aus und spannen ihren Bogen, daß sie fällen den Elenden und Armen und schlachten die Frommen.

15 T heir sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bow shall be broken.

Aber ihr Schwert wird in ihr Herz gehen, und ihr Bogen wird zerbrechen.

16 T et A little that a righteous man has is better than the many riches of the sinners.

Das wenige, das ein Gerechter hat, ist besser als das große Gut vieler Gottlosen.

17 F or the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.

Denn der Gottlosen Arm wird zerbrechen; aber der HERR erhält die Gerechten.

18 J od The LORD knows the days of the perfect, and their inheritance shall be for ever.

Der HERR kennt die Tage der Frommen, und ihr Gut wird ewiglich bleiben.

19 T hey shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

Sie werden nicht zu Schanden in der bösen Zeit, und in der Teuerung werden sie genug haben.

20 C aph But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD as the fattest of rams shall be consumed; as smoke they shall fade away.

Denn die Gottlosen werden umkommen; und die Feinde des HERRN, wenn sie gleich sind wie köstliche Aue, werden sie doch vergehen, wie der Rauch vergeht.

21 ¶ Lamed The wicked borrows and does not repay: but the righteous shows mercy and gives.

Der Gottlose borgt und bezahlt nicht; der Gerechte aber ist barmherzig und gibt.

22 F or such as are blessed of him shall inherit the earth, and those that are cursed of him shall be cut off.

Denn seine Gesegneten erben das Land; aber seine Verfluchten werden ausgerottet.

23 M em The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and he delights in his way.

Von dem HERRN wird solches Mannes Gang gefördert, und er hat Lust an seinem Wege.

24 T hough he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

Fällt er, so wird er nicht weggeworfen; denn der HERR hält ihn bei der Hand.

25 N un I have been young and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Ich bin jung gewesen und alt geworden und habe noch nie gesehen den Gerechten verlassen oder seinen Samen nach Brot gehen.

26 H e is ever merciful and lends, and his seed is a blessing.

Er ist allezeit barmherzig und leihet gerne, und sein Same wird gesegnet sein.

27 S amech Depart from evil, and do good, and thou shalt live for evermore.

Laß vom Bösen und tue Gutes und bleibe wohnen immerdar.

28 F or the LORD loves uprightness and does not forsake his merciful ones; they are preserved for ever, but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

Denn der HERR hat das Recht lieb und verläßt seine Heiligen nicht; ewiglich werden sie bewahrt; aber der Gottlosen Same wird ausgerottet.

29 A in The righteous shall inherit the earth and live upon it for ever.

Die Gerechten erben das Land und bleiben ewiglich darin.

30 P e The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue brings forth judgment.

Der Mund des Gerechten redet die Weisheit, und seine Zunge lehrt das Recht.

31 T he law of his God is in his heart; therefore none of his steps shall slide.

Das Gesetz seines Gottes ist in seinem Herzen; seine Tritte gleiten nicht.

32 T zaddi The wicked watches the righteous and seeks to slay him.

Der Gottlose lauert auf den Gerechten und gedenkt ihn zu töten.

33 T he LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

Aber der HERR läßt ihn nicht in seinen Händen und verdammt ihn nicht, wenn er verurteilt wird.

34 ¶ Koph Wait on the LORD and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the earth; when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

Harre auf den HERRN und halte seinen Weg, so wird er dich erhöhen, daß du das Land erbest; du wirst es sehen, daß die Gottlosen ausgerottet werden.

35 R esh I have seen the wicked in great power and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

Ich habe gesehen einen Gottlosen, der war trotzig und breitete sich aus und grünte wie ein Lorbeerbaum.

36 Y et he passed away, and, behold, he was not: I sought him, but he could not be found.

Da man vorüberging, siehe, da war er dahin; ich fragte nach ihm, da ward er nirgend gefunden.

37 S chin Mark the perfect, and behold the upright, for the end of each one of them is peace.

Bleibe fromm und halte dich recht; denn solchem wird's zuletzt wohl gehen.

38 B ut the rebels were destroyed all together; the wicked were cut off in the end.

Die Übertreter aber werden vertilgt miteinander, und die Gottlosen werden zuletzt ausgerottet.

39 T au But the salvation of the righteous is the LORD; he is their strength in the time of trouble.

Aber der HERR hilft den Gerechten; der ist ihre Stärke in der Not.

40 A nd the LORD helped them and delivers them; he shall deliver them from the wicked and save them because they wait in him.

Und der HERR wird ihnen beistehen und wird sie erretten; er wird sie von dem Gottlosen erretten und ihnen helfen; denn sie trauen auf ihn.
