1 ¶ The words of Amos, who was among the pastors of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

Dies ist's, was Amos, der unter den Hirten zu Thekoa war, gesehen hat über Israel zur Zeit Usias, des Königs in Juda, und Jerobeams, des Sohnes Joas, des Königs Israels, zwei Jahre vor dem Erdbeben.

2 A nd he said, The LORD will roar from Zion and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the pastors shall be destroyed, and the top of Carmel shall wither.

Und er sprach: Der HERR wird aus Zion brüllen und seine Stimme aus Jerusalem hören lassen, daß die Auen der Hirten jämmerlich stehen werden und der Karmel oben verdorren wird.

3 ¶ Thus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Damascus and for the fourth, I will not convert her because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron.

So spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen der Damasker will ich ihrer nicht schonen, darum daß sie Gilead mit eisernen Zacken gedroschen haben;

4 B ut I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.

sondern ich will ein Feuer schicken in das Haus Hasaels, das soll die Paläste Benhadads verzehren.

5 I will also break the bar of Damascus and cut off the inhabitants of the plain of Aven and him that holds the sceptre from the house of Eden; and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir.

Und ich will die Riegel zu Damaskus zerbrechen und die Einwohner auf dem Felde Aven samt dem, der das Zepter hält, aus dem Lusthause ausrotten, daß das Volk in Syrien soll gen Kir weggeführt werden, spricht der HERR.

6 T hus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Gaza and for the fourth, I will not convert her because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:

So spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevels willen Gazas will ich ihrer nicht schonen, darum daß sie die Gefangenen alle weggeführt und an Edom überantwortet haben;

7 b ut I will send a fire in the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof.

sondern ich will ein Feuer in die Mauern zu Gaza schicken, das soll ihre Paläste verzehren.

8 A nd I will cut off the inhabitants of Ashdod and him that holds the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn my hand against Ekron; and the remnant of the Palestinians shall perish, said the Lord GOD.

Und ich will die Einwohner aus Asdod und den, der das Zepter hält, aus Askalon ausrotten und meine Hand wider Ekron kehren, daß umkommen soll, was von den Philistern noch übrig ist, spricht der HERR HERR.

9 T hus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Tyre and for the fourth, I will not convert her because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom and did not remember the brotherly covenant;

So spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen der Stadt Tyrus will ich ihrer nicht schonen, darum daß sie die Gefangenen alle an Edom überantwortet haben und nicht gedacht an den Bund der Brüder;

10 b ut I will send fire in the wall of Tyre, which shall devour its palaces.

sondern ich will ein Feuer in die Mauern zu Tyrus schicken, das soll ihre Paläste verzehren.

11 T hus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Edom and for the fourth, I will not convert her because she pursued her brother with the sword and cast off all mercy, and with her anger she stole from him perpetually, and she kept her wrath for ever:

So spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen Edoms will ich sein nicht schonen, darum daß er seinen Bruder mit dem Schwert verfolgt hat und daß er alles Erbarmen von sich getan und immer wütet in seinem Zorn und seinem Grimm ewig hält;

12 b ut I will send fire in Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.

sondern ich will ein Feuer schicken gen Theman, das soll die Paläste zu Bozra verzehren.

13 T hus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the sons of Ammon and for the fourth, I will not convert her because they have ripped off the mountains of Gilead that they might enlarge their border:

So spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen der Kinder Ammon will ich ihrer nicht schonen, darum daß sie die Schwangeren in Gilead zerrissen haben, damit sie ihre Grenze weiter machten;

14 b ut I will kindle fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof as with shouting in the day of battle, as with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;

sondern ich will ein Feuer anzünden in den Mauern Rabbas, das soll ihre Paläste verzehren, wenn man rufen wird zur Zeit des Streits und wenn das Wetter kommen wird zur Zeit des Sturms.

15 a nd their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, said the LORD.

Da wird dann ihr König samt seinen Fürsten gefangen weggeführt werden, spricht der HERR.
