1 ¶ The words of Amos, who was among the pastors of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

Las palabras de Amós, que fue uno de los pastores de Tecoa, que profetizó acerca de Israel en días de Uzías, rey de Judá, y en días de Jeroboam hijo de Joás, rey de Israel, dos años antes del terremoto.

2 A nd he said, The LORD will roar from Zion and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the pastors shall be destroyed, and the top of Carmel shall wither.

Dijo: «Jehová rugirá desde Sión, dará su voz desde Jerusalén, los campos de los pastores se enlutarán y se secará la cumbre del Carmelo.»

3 ¶ Thus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Damascus and for the fourth, I will not convert her because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron.

Así ha dicho Jehová: «Por tres pecados de Damasco, y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo: porque trillaron a Galaad con trillos de hierro.

4 B ut I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.

Prenderé fuego a la casa de Hazael y consumirá los palacios de Ben-adad.

5 I will also break the bar of Damascus and cut off the inhabitants of the plain of Aven and him that holds the sceptre from the house of Eden; and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir.

Quebraré los cerrojos de Damasco y destruiré a los moradores del valle de Avén y a los gobernadores de Bet-edén, y el pueblo de Siria será transportado a Kir, dice Jehová.»

6 T hus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Gaza and for the fourth, I will not convert her because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:

Así ha dicho Jehová: «Por tres pecados de Gaza, y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo: porque llevó cautivo a todo un pueblo para entregarlo a Edom.

7 b ut I will send a fire in the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof.

Prenderé fuego al muro de Gaza y consumirá sus palacios.

8 A nd I will cut off the inhabitants of Ashdod and him that holds the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn my hand against Ekron; and the remnant of the Palestinians shall perish, said the Lord GOD.

Destruiré a los moradores de Asdod y a los gobernadores de Ascalón; volveré mi mano contra Ecrón y el resto de los filisteos perecerá, ha dicho Jehová, el Señor.»

9 T hus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Tyre and for the fourth, I will not convert her because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom and did not remember the brotherly covenant;

Así ha dicho Jehová: «Por tres pecados de Tiro, y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo: porque entregaron a todo un pueblo cautivo a Edom y no se acordaron del pacto de hermanos.

10 b ut I will send fire in the wall of Tyre, which shall devour its palaces.

Prenderé fuego al muro de Tiro y consumirá sus palacios.»

11 T hus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Edom and for the fourth, I will not convert her because she pursued her brother with the sword and cast off all mercy, and with her anger she stole from him perpetually, and she kept her wrath for ever:

Así ha dicho Jehová: «Por tres pecados de Edom, y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo: porque persiguió a espada a su hermano y violó todo afecto natural; en su furor le ha robado siempre y ha guardado perpetuamente el rencor.

12 b ut I will send fire in Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.

Prenderé fuego a Temán y consumirá los palacios de Bosra.»

13 T hus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the sons of Ammon and for the fourth, I will not convert her because they have ripped off the mountains of Gilead that they might enlarge their border:

Así ha dicho Jehová: «Por tres pecados de los hijos de Amón, y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo: porque para ensanchar sus tierras abrieron a las mujeres de Galaad que estaban embarazadas.

14 b ut I will kindle fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof as with shouting in the day of battle, as with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;

Encenderé fuego en el muro de Rabá y consumirá sus palacios con estruendo en el día de la batalla, con tempestad en día tempestuoso;

15 a nd their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, said the LORD.

y su rey irá en cautiverio con todos sus príncipes, dice Jehová.»
