1 ¶ Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.

2 A nd she bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.

la cual le dio a luz a Zimram, Jocsán, Medán, Madián, Isbac y Súa.

3 A nd Jokshan begat Sheba and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim.

Jocsán engendró a Seba y a Dedán; e hijos de Dedán fueron Asurim, Letusim y Leumim.

4 A nd the sons of Midian: Ephah, Epher, Enoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the sons of Keturah.

E hijos de Madián: Efa, Efer, Hanoc, Abida y Elda. Todos estos fueron hijos de Cetura.

5 A nd Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

Abraham dejó a Isaac todo cuanto tenía.

6 B ut unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

A los hijos de sus concubinas les dio Abraham regalos; pero, cuando aún vivía, los separó de su hijo Isaac enviándolos hacia las tierras del oriente. Muerte y sepultura de Abraham

7 A nd these were the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, one hundred seventy-five years.

Los días que vivió Abraham fueron ciento setenta y cinco años.

8 T hen Abraham expired and died in a good old age, an old man and full of years, and was gathered to his people.

Exhaló, pues, el espíritu, y murió Abraham en buena vejez, anciano y lleno de años; y fue reunido a su pueblo.

9 A nd his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is in front of Mamre;

Lo sepultaron Isaac e Ismael, sus hijos, en la cueva de Macpela, en la heredad de Efrón hijo de Zohar, el heteo, que está enfrente de Mamre,

10 t he field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth, there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

la heredad que compró Abraham de los hijos de Het. Allí fueron sepultados Abraham y Sara, su mujer.

11 ¶ And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.

Y sucedió, después de muerto Abraham, que Dios bendijo a Isaac, su hijo; y habitó Isaac junto al pozo del «Viviente-que-me-ve». Descendientes de Ismael

12 N ow these are the generations of Ishmael, son of Abraham, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s handmaid, gave birth unto Abraham:

13 A nd these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their lineages: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth, and Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

Estos, pues, son los nombres de los hijos de Ismael, nombrados en el orden de su nacimiento: el primogénito de Ismael, Nebaiot; luego Cedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

Misma, Duma, Massa,

15 H adar, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah.

Hadar, Tema, Jetur, Nafis y Cedema.

16 T hese are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns and by their palaces; twelve princes according to their families.

Éstos son los hijos de Ismael y estos sus nombres, por sus villas y por sus campamentos; doce jefes por sus familias.

17 A nd these are the years of the life of Ishmael, one hundred thirty-seven years; and Ishmael expired and died and was gathered unto his people.

Los años de la vida de Ismael fueron ciento treinta y siete; exhaló el espíritu Ismael, murió y fue reunido a su pueblo.

18 A nd they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria; and he fell in the presence of all his brethren.

Habitaron los ismaelitas desde Havila hasta Shur, que está enfrente de Egipto, en la vía hacia Asiria; y murió en presencia de todos sus hermanos. Nacimiento de Jacob y Esaú

19 ¶ And these are the generations of Isaac, son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac;

Éstos son los descendientes de Isaac hijo de Abraham: Abraham engendró a Isaac.

20 a nd Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel, the Aramean of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Aramean.

Isaac tenía cuarenta años cuando tomó por mujer a Rebeca, hija de Betuel, arameo de Padan-aram, hermana de Labán, arameo.

21 A nd Isaac prayed unto the LORD for his wife because she was barren; and the LORD accepted him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

Isaac oró a Jehová por su mujer, Rebeca, que era estéril; lo aceptó Jehová, y Rebeca concibió.

22 A nd the sons struggled together within her; and she said, If this is so, why should I live? And she went to enquire of the LORD.

Pero como los hijos luchaban dentro de ella, Rebeca pensó: «Si es así, ¿para qué vivo yo?» Y fue a consultar a Jehová;

23 A nd the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of peoples shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

y Jehová le respondió: «Dos naciones hay en tu seno, dos pueblos divididos desde tus entrañas. Un pueblo será más fuerte que el otro pueblo, y el mayor servirá al menor.»

24 A nd when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

Cuando se cumplieron sus días para dar a luz, había gemelos en su vientre.

25 A nd the first came out red, all over like a hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

El primero salió rubio; era todo velludo como una pelliza, y le pusieron por nombre Esaú.

26 A nd afterwards his brother came out with Esau’s heel grasped in his hand; and his name was called Jacob. And Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them.

Después salió su hermano, trabada su mano al talón de Esaú, y le pusieron por nombre Jacob. Isaac tenía sesenta años de edad cuando ella los dio a luz. Esaú vende su primogenitura

27 A nd the boys grew, and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was an upright man, remaining in the tents.

Crecieron los niños. Esaú fue diestro en la caza, hombre del campo; pero Jacob era hombre tranquilo, que habitaba en tiendas.

28 A nd Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his venison; but Rebekah loved Jacob.

Y amó Isaac a Esaú, porque comía de su caza; pero Rebeca amaba a Jacob.

29 ¶ And Jacob boiled pottage; and Esau came from the field, and he was faint;

Guisó Jacob un potaje; y volviendo Esaú del campo, cansado,

30 a nd Esau said to Jacob, Give me to eat, I pray thee, of that red pottage; for I am faint. Therefore was his name called Edom.

dijo a Jacob: —Te ruego que me des a comer de ese guiso rojo, pues estoy muy cansado. (Por eso fue llamado Edom.)

31 A nd Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

Jacob respondió: —Véndeme en este día tu primogenitura.

32 A nd Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die; and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

Entonces dijo Esaú: —Me estoy muriendo, ¿para qué, pues, me servirá la primogenitura?

33 A nd Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he swore unto him and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

Dijo Jacob: —Júramelo en este día. Él se lo juró, y vendió a Jacob su primogenitura.

34 T hen Jacob gave Esau of the bread and of the pottage of lentils; and he ate and drank, and rose up, and went away. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

Entonces Jacob dio a Esaú pan y del guisado de las lentejas; él comió y bebió, se levantó y se fue. Así menospreció Esaú la primogenitura.
