1 ¶ And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight against Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know for certain, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.

Aconteció en aquellos días, que los filisteos reunieron sus fuerzas para pelear contra Israel. Y Aquis dijo a David: —Ten entendido que has de salir a campaña conmigo, tú y tus hombres.

2 A nd David said to Achish, Surely thou shalt know what thy slave can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore, I will make thee keeper of my head all the days.

David respondió a Aquis: —Muy bien, ahora sabrás lo que hará tu siervo. Aquis dijo a David: —En ese caso, te haré mi guarda personal mientras viva. Saúl y la adivina de Endor

3 N ow Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah in his own city. And Saul had removed the spiritists and the diviners out of the land.

Ya Samuel había muerto. Todo Israel lo había lamentado y lo había sepultado en Ramá, su ciudad. Saúl había expulsado de la tierra a los encantadores y adivinos.

4 A nd the Philistines gathered themselves together and came and pitched camp in Shunem, and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched camp in Gilboa.

Se reunieron, pues, los filisteos, y vinieron a acampar en Sunem. Mientras, Saúl reunió a todo Israel y acampó en Gilboa.

5 A nd when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly.

Cuando Saúl vio el campamento de los filisteos, tuvo miedo y se turbó sobremanera su corazón.

6 A nd Saul enquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him by dreams nor by Urim nor by prophets.

Consultó Saúl a Jehová, pero Jehová no le respondió ni por sueños ni por el Urim ni por los profetas.

7 ¶ Then Saul said unto his slaves, Seek me a woman that is a spiritist that I may go to her and enquire of her. And his slaves said to him, Behold, there is a woman that is a spiritist at Endor.

Entonces Saúl dijo a sus criados: —Buscadme una mujer que tenga espíritu de adivinación, para que vaya a consultar por medio de ella. Sus criados le respondieron: —Aquí, en Endor, hay una mujer que tiene espíritu de adivinación.

8 A nd Saul disguised himself and put on other clothing, and he went with two men, and they came to the woman by night; and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by spiritism and bring me him up whom I shall name unto thee.

Se disfrazó Saúl poniéndose otras vestiduras y, acompañado por dos hombres, se llegó de noche a aquella mujer y le dijo: —Te ruego que me adivines, por el espíritu de adivinación, y hagas venir a quien yo te diga.

9 A nd the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul has done, how he has cut off the spiritists and the diviners out of the land; why then dost thou lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?

La mujer le respondió: —Bien sabes lo que Saúl ha hecho, cómo ha extirpado de la tierra a los evocadores y a los adivinos. ¿Por qué, pues, me pones esta trampa para hacerme morir?

10 A nd Saul swore to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD lives, no iniquity shall come upon thee for this thing.

Entonces Saúl le juró por Jehová: —¡Vive Jehová!, que ningún mal te sobrevendrá por esto.

11 T hen the woman said, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

La mujer dijo: —¿A quién te haré venir? —Hazme venir a Samuel —respondió él.

12 A nd when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? For thou art Saul.

Al ver la mujer a Samuel, lanzó un grito y dijo a Saúl:

13 A nd the king said unto her, Do not be afraid. What didst thou see? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods rising out of the land.

—¿Por qué me has engañado?, pues tú eres Saúl. —No temas. ¿Qué has visto? —le respondió el rey. —He visto dioses que suben de la tierra —dijo la mujer a Saúl.

14 A nd he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man comes, and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground and worshipped.

—¿Cuál es su forma? —le preguntó él. —Un hombre anciano viene, cubierto de un manto —respondió ella. Comprendió Saúl que era Samuel, y cayendo rostro en tierra, hizo una gran reverencia.

15 ¶ And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed, for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me and no longer answers me neither by prophets nor by dreams; therefore, I have called thee that thou may make known unto me what I shall do.

Samuel dijo a Saúl: —¿Por qué me has inquietado haciéndome venir? Saúl respondió: —Estoy muy angustiado, pues los filisteos pelean contra mí. Dios se ha apartado de mí y ya no me responde, ni por medio de los profetas ni por sueños; por esto te he llamado, para que me digas lo que debo hacer.

16 T hen Samuel said, Why then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thy enemy?

Samuel respondió: —¿Para qué me preguntas a mí, si Jehová se ha apartado de ti y es tu enemigo?

17 T he LORD, therefore, has done as he spoke by me! For the LORD has rent the kingdom out of thy hand and given it to thy neighbour, even to David.

Jehová te ha hecho como predijo por medio de mí, pues Jehová ha arrancado el reino de tus manos y lo ha dado a tu compañero, David.

18 B ecause thou didst not hearken unto the voice of the LORD nor execute his fierce wrath upon Amalek; therefore, the LORD has done this thing unto thee today.

Como tú no obedeciste a la voz de Jehová, ni atendiste al ardor de su ira contra Amalec, por eso Jehová te ha hecho esto hoy.

19 A nd the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines, and tomorrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me; the LORD shall also deliver the camp of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.

Junto contigo, Jehová entregará a Israel en manos de los filisteos; mañana estaréis conmigo, tú y tus hijos. Jehová entregará también al ejército de Israel en manos de los filisteos.

20 ¶ Then Saul, as great as he was, fell suddenly to the earth and was sore afraid because of the words of Samuel; and there was no strength in him, for he had eaten no bread all that day nor all that night.

De repente cayó Saúl en tierra cuan largo era, lleno de temor por las palabras de Samuel. Estaba sin fuerzas, porque no había comido durante todo aquel día y toda aquella noche.

21 A nd the woman came unto Saul and saw that he was sore troubled and said unto him, Behold, thy handmaid has heard thy voice, and I have put my soul in my hand and have hearkened unto thy words which thou didst speak unto me.

La mujer se acercó a Saúl, y al ver que estaba muy turbado le dijo: —Tu sierva ha obedecido a tu voz; he arriesgado mi vida y he cumplido la orden que me diste.

22 N ow, therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thy handmaid and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou may have strength, and go on thy way.

Te ruego, pues, que tú también oigas la voz de tu sierva; pondré delante de ti un bocado de pan para que comas, a fin de que cobres fuerzas y sigas tu camino.

23 B ut he refused and said, I will not eat. But his slaves, together with the woman, compelled him, and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the ground and sat upon a bed.

Él rehusó diciendo: —No comeré. Pero sus siervos le insistieron junto con la mujer, y él les obedeció. Se levantó, pues, del suelo, y se sentó sobre una cama.

24 A nd the woman had a fat calf in the house, and she hastened and killed it and took flour and kneaded it and baked unleavened bread with it.

Aquella mujer tenía en su casa un ternero engordado. Enseguida lo mató, tomó harina, la amasó y coció con ella panes sin levadura.

25 A nd she brought it before Saul and before his slaves, and after they ate, they rose up and went away that night.

Luego sirvió todo aquello a Saúl y sus siervos, quienes, después de haber comido, se levantaron y se fueron aquella misma noche.
