1 ¶ Paul and Timothy, slaves of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

3 ¶ I thank my God upon every remembrance of you

Doy gracias a mi Dios siempre que me acuerdo de vosotros.

4 a lways in every prayer of mine for you all, making request with joy,

Siempre en todas mis oraciones ruego con gozo por todos vosotros,

5 f or your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now,

por vuestra comunión en el evangelio desde el primer día hasta ahora,

6 b eing confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ.

estando persuadido de esto, que el que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra la perfeccionará hasta el día de Jesucristo.

7 ¶ Even as it is right for me to think this of you all because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are joint partakers of my grace.

Y es justo que yo sienta esto de todos vosotros, porque os tengo en el corazón; y en mis prisiones, y en la defensa y confirmación del evangelio, todos vosotros sois participantes conmigo de la gracia.

8 F or God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

Dios me es testigo de cómo os amo a todos vosotros con el entrañable amor de Jesucristo.

9 ¶ And this I pray that your charity may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all perception,

Y esto pido en oración: que vuestro amor abunde aún más y más en conocimiento y en toda comprensión,

10 t hat ye may approve the best, that ye may be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ,

para que aprobéis lo mejor, a fin de que seáis sinceros e irreprochables para el día de Cristo,

11 b eing filled with fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

llenos de frutos de justicia que son por medio de Jesucristo, para gloria y alabanza de Dios. Para mí el vivir es Cristo

12 ¶ But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel,

Quiero que sepáis, hermanos, que las cosas que me han sucedido, han contribuido más bien al progreso del evangelio,

13 s o that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace and in all other places;

de tal manera que en todo el pretorio y entre todos los demás se ha hecho evidente que estoy preso por causa de Cristo.

14 a nd many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

Y la mayoría de los hermanos, cobrando ánimo en el Señor con mis prisiones, se atreven mucho más a hablar la palabra sin temor.

15 S ome indeed preach the Christ even out of envy and strife, but others also out of good will.

Algunos, a la verdad, predican a Cristo por envidia y rivalidad; pero otros lo hacen de buena voluntad.

16 S ome preach the Christ out of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add tribulation to my bonds,

Los unos anuncian a Cristo por rivalidad, no sinceramente, pensando añadir aflicción a mis prisiones;

17 b ut the others out of charity, knowing that I am placed here for the defense of the gospel.

pero los otros por amor, sabiendo que estoy puesto para la defensa del evangelio.

18 W hat then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretense, or in truth, Christ is preached, and I therein do rejoice, and will even rejoice.

¿Qué, pues? Que no obstante, de todas maneras, o por pretexto o por verdad, Cristo es anunciado; y en esto me gozo y me gozaré siempre,

19 F or I know that this shall become my saving health through your prayer and the nourishment of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

porque sé que por vuestra oración y la suministración del Espíritu de Jesucristo, esto resultará en mi liberación,

20 a ccording to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.

conforme a mi anhelo y esperanza de que en nada seré avergonzado; antes bien con toda confianza, como siempre, ahora también será magnificado Cristo en mi cuerpo, tanto si vivo como si muero,

21 ¶ For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.

porque para mí el vivir es Cristo y el morir, ganancia.

22 B ut if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour, yet I do not know what to choose.

Pero si el vivir en la carne resulta para mí en beneficio de la obra, no sé entonces qué escoger:

23 F or I am in a strait between the two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better:

De ambas cosas estoy puesto en estrecho, teniendo deseo de partir y estar con Cristo, lo cual es muchísimo mejor;

24 n evertheless, to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

pero quedar en la carne es más necesario por causa de vosotros.

25 A nd having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith,

Y confiado en esto, sé que quedaré, que aún permaneceré con todos vosotros, para vuestro provecho y gozo de la fe,

26 t hat your glorying in Jesus Christ may be more abundant by my coming to you again.

para que abunde vuestra gloria de mí en Cristo Jesús por mi presencia otra vez entre vosotros.

27 ¶ Only let your conversation be as is worthy of the gospel of Christ, that whether I come and see you or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, unanimous, working together for the faith of the gospel,

Solamente os ruego que os comportéis como es digno del evangelio de Cristo, para que, sea que vaya a veros o que esté ausente, oiga de vosotros que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, combatiendo unánimes por la fe del evangelio

28 a nd in nothing terrified by your adversaries, which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of saving health and that of God.

y sin dejaros intimidar por los que se oponen, que para ellos ciertamente es indicio de perdición, pero para vosotros de salvación; y esto procede de Dios.

29 F or unto you it is granted regarding Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake,

A vosotros os es concedido a causa de Cristo, no sólo que creáis en él, sino también que padezcáis por él,

30 h aving the same conflict which ye saw in me and now hear to be in me.

teniendo el mismo conflicto que habéis visto en mí y ahora oís que hay en mí.
