1 ¶ Then shall the kingdom of the heavens be likened unto ten virgins who, taking their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom.

»Entonces el reino de los cielos será semejante a diez vírgenes que, tomando sus lámparas, salieron a recibir al novio.

2 A nd five of them were prudent, and five were foolish.

Cinco de ellas eran prudentes y cinco insensatas.

3 T hose that were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them;

Las insensatas, tomando sus lámparas, no tomaron consigo aceite;

4 b ut the prudent took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

pero las prudentes tomaron aceite en sus vasijas, juntamente con sus lámparas.

5 W hile the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

Como el novio tardaba, cabecearon todas y se durmieron.

6 A nd at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go ye out to meet him.

Y a la medianoche se oyó un clamor: “¡Aquí viene el novio, salid a recibirlo!”

7 T hen all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.

Entonces todas aquellas vírgenes se levantaron y arreglaron sus lámparas.

8 A nd the foolish said unto the prudent, Give us of your oil, for our lamps are going out.

Y las insensatas dijeron a las prudentes: “Dadnos de vuestro aceite, porque nuestras lámparas se apagan.”

9 B ut the prudent answered, saying, Lest there be not enough for us and you, but go ye rather to them that sell and buy for yourselves.

Pero las prudentes respondieron diciendo: “Para que no nos falte a nosotras y a vosotras, id más bien a los que venden y comprad para vosotras mismas.”

10 A nd while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and those that were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut.

Pero mientras ellas iban a comprar, llegó el novio; y las que estaban preparadas entraron con él a la boda, y se cerró la puerta.

11 A fterward the other virgins also came, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

Después llegaron también las otras vírgenes, diciendo: “¡Señor, señor, ábrenos!”

12 B ut he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Pero él, respondiendo, dijo: “De cierto os digo que no os conozco.”

13 W atch, therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes.

Velad, pues, porque no sabéis el día ni la hora en que el Hijo del hombre ha de venir. Parábola de los talentos

14 ¶ For it is like a man travelling into a far country, who called his own slaves and delivered unto them his goods.

»El reino de los cielos es como un hombre que, yéndose lejos, llamó a sus siervos y les entregó sus bienes.

15 A nd unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each one according to his faculty, and straightway took his journey.

A uno dio cinco talentos, a otro dos y a otro uno, a cada uno conforme a su capacidad; y luego se fue lejos.

16 A nd after he was gone, he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same and made another five talents.

El que recibió cinco talentos fue y negoció con ellos, y ganó otros cinco talentos.

17 A nd likewise he that had received two, he also gained another two.

Asimismo el que recibió dos, ganó también otros dos.

18 B ut he that had received one went and dug in the earth and hid his lord’s money.

Pero el que recibió uno hizo un hoyo en la tierra y escondió el dinero de su señor.

19 A nd after a long time the lord of those slaves came and reckoned accounts with them.

»Después de mucho tiempo regresó el señor de aquellos siervos y arregló cuentas con ellos.

20 A nd so he that had received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, Lord, thou didst deliver unto me five talents; behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

Se acercó el que había recibido cinco talentos y trajo otros cinco talentos, diciendo: “Señor, cinco talentos me entregaste; aquí tienes, he ganado otros cinco talentos sobre ellos.”

21 H is lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful slave; thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Su señor le dijo: “Bien, buen siervo y fiel; sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré. Entra en el gozo de tu señor.”

22 H e also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou didst deliver unto me two talents; behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

Se acercó también el que había recibido dos talentos y dijo: “Señor, dos talentos me entregaste; aquí tienes, he ganado otros dos talentos sobre ellos.”

23 H is lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful slave; thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Su señor le dijo: “Bien, buen siervo y fiel; sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré. Entra en el gozo de tu señor.”

24 T hen he who had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown and gathering where thou hast not scattered;

Pero acercándose también el que había recibido un talento, dijo: “Señor, te conocía que eres hombre duro, que siegas donde no sembraste y recoges donde no esparciste;

25 t herefore, I was afraid and went and hid thy talent in the earth; behold, thou hast what is thine.

por lo cual tuve miedo, y fui y escondí tu talento en la tierra; aquí tienes lo que es tuyo.”

26 H is lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful slave, thou knewest that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I have not scattered;

Respondiendo su señor, le dijo: “Siervo malo y negligente, sabías que siego donde no sembré y que recojo donde no esparcí.

27 t herefore, it was expedient for thee to have put my money to the bankers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with interest.

Por tanto, debías haber dado mi dinero a los banqueros y, al venir yo, hubiera recibido lo que es mío con los intereses.

28 T ake, therefore, the talent from him and give it unto him who has ten talents.

Quitadle, pues, el talento y dadlo al que tiene diez talentos,

29 F or unto every one that has shall be given, and he shall have abundance, but from him that has not shall be taken away even that which he has.

porque al que tiene, le será dado y tendrá más; y al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.

30 A nd cast ye the unprofitable slave into the outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Y al siervo inútil echadlo en las tinieblas de afuera; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.” El juicio de las naciones

31 ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory and all the holy angels with him, then he shall sit upon the throne of his glory,

»Cuando el Hijo del hombre venga en su gloria y todos los santos ángeles con él, entonces se sentará en su trono de gloria,

32 a nd before him shall be gathered all nations; and he shall separate them one from another as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats,

y serán reunidas delante de él todas las naciones; entonces apartará los unos de los otros, como aparta el pastor las ovejas de los cabritos.

33 a nd he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Y pondrá las ovejas a su derecha y los cabritos a su izquierda.

34 T hen shall the King say unto those on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

Entonces el Rey dirá a los de su derecha: “Venid, benditos de mi Padre, heredad el Reino preparado para vosotros desde la fundación del mundo,

35 f or I was hungry, and ye gave me food; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;

porque tuve hambre y me disteis de comer; tuve sed y me disteis de beber; fui forastero y me recogisteis;

36 n aked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

estuve desnudo y me vestisteis; enfermo y me visitasteis; en la cárcel y fuisteis a verme.”

37 T hen shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee? or thirsty and give thee drink?

Entonces los justos le responderán diciendo: “Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento y te alimentamos, o sediento y te dimos de beber?

38 W hen did we see thee a stranger and take thee in? or naked and clothe thee?

¿Y cuándo te vimos forastero y te recogimos, o desnudo y te vestimos?

39 O r when did we see thee sick or in prison and come unto thee?

¿O cuándo te vimos enfermo o en la cárcel, y fuimos a verte?”

40 A nd the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brothers, ye have done it unto me.

Respondiendo el Rey, les dirá: “De cierto os digo que en cuanto lo hicisteis a uno de estos mis hermanos más pequeños, a mí lo hicisteis.”

41 T hen he shall also say unto those who shall be on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels;

»Entonces dirá también a los de la izquierda: “Apartaos de mí, malditos, al fuego eterno preparado para el diablo y sus ángeles,

42 f or I was hungry, and ye gave me no food; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink;

porque tuve hambre, y no me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y no me disteis de beber;

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick and in prison, and ye visited me not.

fui forastero, y no me recogisteis; estuve desnudo, y no me vestisteis; enfermo y en la cárcel, y no me visitasteis.”

44 T hen they shall also answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not minister unto thee?

Entonces también ellos le responderán diciendo: “Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento, sediento, forastero, desnudo, enfermo o en la cárcel, y no te servimos?”

45 T hen he shall answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of my brothers, ye did it not to me.

Entonces les responderá diciendo: “De cierto os digo que en cuanto no lo hicisteis a uno de estos más pequeños, tampoco a mí lo hicisteis.”

46 A nd they shall go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

Irán estos al castigo eterno y los justos a la vida eterna.
