1 ¶ And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that it behooves us always to pray and not faint,

También les refirió Jesús una parábola sobre la necesidad de orar siempre y no desmayar,

2 s aying, There was in a city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man;

diciendo: «Había en una ciudad un juez que ni temía a Dios ni respetaba a hombre.

3 a nd there was a widow in that city, and she came unto him, saying, Defend me from my adversary.

Había también en aquella ciudad una viuda, la cual venía a él diciendo: “Hazme justicia de mi adversario.”

4 A nd he would not for a while, but afterward he said within himself, Though I do not fear God, nor regard man,

Él no quiso por algún tiempo; pero después de esto dijo dentro de sí: “Aunque ni temo a Dios ni tengo respeto a hombre,

5 y et because this widow troubles me, I will do her justice, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

sin embargo, porque esta viuda me es molesta, le haré justicia, no sea que viniendo de continuo me agote la paciencia.”»

6 A nd the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says.

Y dijo el Señor: «Oíd lo que dijo el juez injusto.

7 A nd shall not God avenge his own elect who cry day and night unto him though he bears long regarding them?

¿Y acaso Dios no hará justicia a sus escogidos, que claman a él día y noche? ¿Se tardará en responderles?

8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?

Os digo que pronto les hará justicia. Pero cuando venga el Hijo del hombre, ¿hallará fe en la tierra?» Parábola del fariseo y el publicano

9 ¶ And he spoke this parable unto some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others:

A unos que confiaban en sí mismos como justos y menospreciaban a los otros, dijo también esta parábola:

10 T wo men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

«Dos hombres subieron al Templo a orar: uno era fariseo y el otro publicano.

11 T he Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are: extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

El fariseo, puesto en pie, oraba consigo mismo de esta manera: “Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los otros hombres: ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni aun como este publicano;

12 I fast two meals every sabbath; I give tithes of all that I possess.

ayuno dos veces a la semana, diezmo de todo lo que gano.”

13 A nd the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God, reconcile me, a sinner.

Pero el publicano, estando lejos, no quería ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho, diciendo: “Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador.”

14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for anyone that exalts himself shall be humbled, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

Os digo que éste descendió a su casa justificado antes que el otro, porque cualquiera que se enaltece será humillado y el que se humilla será enaltecido.» Jesús bendice a los niños

15 ¶ And they brought unto him also infants that he would touch them; but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

Traían a él niños para que los tocara. Al verlo los discípulos, los reprendieron.

16 B ut Jesus called them unto him and said, Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God.

Pero Jesús, llamándolos, dijo: —Dejad a los niños venir a mí y no se lo impidáis, porque de los tales es el reino de Dios.

17 V erily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

De cierto os digo que el que no recibe el reino de Dios como un niño, no entrará en él. El joven rico

18 ¶ And a certain prince asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Un dignatario le preguntó, diciendo: —Maestro bueno, ¿qué haré para heredar la vida eterna?

19 A nd Jesus said unto him, Why dost thou call me good? No one is good except one, that is, God.

Jesús le dijo: —¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Nadie es bueno, sino sólo Dios.

20 T hou knowest the commandments, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not murder, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

Los mandamientos sabes: “No adulterarás; no matarás; no hurtarás; no dirás falso testimonio; honra a tu padre y a tu madre.”

21 A nd he said, All these things I have kept from my youth up.

Él dijo: —Todo esto lo he guardado desde mi juventud.

22 N ow when Jesus heard this, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.

Al oír esto, Jesús le dijo: —Aún te falta una cosa: vende todo lo que tienes y dalo a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; y ven, sígueme.

23 A nd when he heard this, he was very sorrowful, for he was very rich.

Entonces él, oyendo esto, se puso muy triste porque era muy rico.

24 A nd when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How difficult it is for those that have riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

Al ver Jesús que se había entristecido mucho, dijo: —¡Cuán difícilmente entrarán en el reino de Dios los que tienen riquezas!

25 F or it is easier to put a cable through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Porque es más fácil que pase un camello por el ojo de una aguja que un rico entre en el reino de Dios.

26 A nd those that heard it said, Who then can be saved?

Los que oyeron esto dijeron: —¿Quién, pues, podrá ser salvo?

27 A nd he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

Él les dijo: —Lo que es imposible para los hombres, es posible para Dios.

28 T hen Peter said, Behold, we have left all and followed thee.

Entonces Pedro dijo: —Pues nosotros hemos dejado nuestras posesiones y te hemos seguido.

29 A nd he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no one that has left house or parents or brethren or wife or children for the kingdom of God’s sake

Y él les dijo: —De cierto os digo que no hay nadie que haya dejado casa, o padres o hermanos o mujer o hijos, por el reino de Dios,

30 w ho shall not receive manifold more in this present time and in the age to come, eternal life.

que no haya de recibir mucho más en este tiempo, y en el siglo venidero la vida eterna. Jesús anuncia por tercera vez su muerte

31 ¶ Then he took unto him the twelve and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

Tomando Jesús a los doce, les dijo: —Cuando lleguemos a Jerusalén se cumplirán todas las cosas escritas por los profetas acerca del Hijo del hombre,

32 F or he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles and shall be mocked and spitefully treated and spitted on;

pues será entregado a los gentiles, se burlarán de él, lo insultarán y le escupirán.

33 a nd they shall scourge him and put him to death, but the third day he shall rise again.

Y después que lo hayan azotado, lo matarán; pero al tercer día resucitará.

34 A nd they understood none of these things, and this word was hid from them, and they did not know what was said.

Sin embargo, ellos nada comprendieron de estas cosas, porque esta palabra les era encubierta y no entendían lo que se les decía. Un ciego de Jericó recibe la vista

35 ¶ And it came to pass that as he came near unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat beside the way begging,

Aconteció que, acercándose Jesús a Jericó, un ciego estaba sentado junto al camino mendigando,

36 a nd hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what this might be.

y al oír a la multitud que pasaba, preguntó qué era aquello.

37 A nd they told him that Jesus of Nazareth passes by.

Le dijeron que pasaba Jesús nazareno.

38 A nd he cried out, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

Entonces gritó, diciendo: —¡Jesús, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí!

39 A nd those who went before rebuked him that he should remain silent; but he cried out so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

Los que iban delante lo reprendían para que callara; pero él gritaba aún más fuerte: —¡Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí!

40 A nd Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought unto him, and when he was come near, he asked him,

Jesús entonces, deteniéndose, mandó traerlo a su presencia. Cuando llegó, le preguntó,

41 s aying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may see.

diciendo: —¿Qué quieres que te haga? Y él dijo: —Señor, que reciba la vista.

42 A nd Jesus said unto him, See; thy faith has saved thee.

Jesús le dijo: —Recíbela, tu fe te ha salvado.

43 A nd immediately he saw and followed him, glorifying God; and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

Al instante recobró la vista, y lo seguía glorificando a Dios; y todo el pueblo, cuando vio aquello, dio alabanza a Dios.
