1 ¶ Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubim, shine forth.

(Ein Psalm und Zeugnis Asaphs, von den Rosen, vorzusingen.) Du Hirte Israels, höre, der du Joseph hütest wie Schafe; erscheine, der du sitzest über dem Cherubim!

2 I n the presence of Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength and come and save us.

Erwecke deine Gewalt, der du vor Ephraim, Benjamin und Manasse bist, und komm uns zu Hilfe!

3 T urn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Gott, tröste uns und laß leuchten dein Antlitz; so genesen wir.

4 O LORD God of the hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

HERR, Gott Zebaoth, wie lange willst du zürnen bei dem Gebet deines Volkes?

5 T hou dost feed them with the bread of tears and give them tears to drink in great measure.

Du speisest sie mit Tränenbrot und tränkest sie mit großem Maß voll Tränen.

6 T hou dost make us a strife unto our neighbours, and our enemies laugh at us among themselves.

Du setzest uns unsre Nachbarn zum Zank, und unsre Feinde spotten unser.

7 T urn us again, O God of the hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Gott Zebaoth, tröste uns, laß leuchten dein Antlitz; so genesen wir.

8 ¶ Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt; thou hast cast out the Gentiles and planted it.

Du hast einen Weinstock aus Ägypten geholt und hast vertrieben die Heiden und denselben gepflanzt.

9 T hou didst prepare room before it and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the earth.

Du hast vor ihm die Bahn gemacht und hast ihn lassen einwurzeln, daß er das Land erfüllt hat.

10 T he hills were covered with the shadow of it, and its boughs were like the cedars of God.

Berge sind mit seinem Schatten bedeckt und mit seinen Reben die Zedern Gottes.

11 S he sent out her boughs unto the sea and her branches unto the river.

Du hast sein Gewächs ausgebreitet bis an das Meer und seine Zweige bis an den Strom.

12 W hy hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all those who pass by the way pluck her?

Warum hast du denn seinen Zaun zerbrochen, daß ihn zerreißt, alles, was vorübergeht?

13 T he boar out of the wood wastes it, and the wild beast of the field devours it.

Es haben ihn zerwühlt die wilden Säue, und die wilden Tiere haben ihn verderbt.

14 R eturn, we beseech thee, O God of the hosts: look down from heaven and behold and visit this vine

Gott Zebaoth, wende dich doch, schaue vom Himmel und sieh an und suche heim diesen Weinstock

15 a nd the vineyard which thy right hand has planted and the branch that thou didst make strong for thyself.

und halt ihn im Bau, den deine Rechte gepflanzt hat und den du dir fest erwählt hast.

16 I t is burned with fire; it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

Siehe drein und schilt, daß des Brennens und Reißens ein Ende werde.

17 L et thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou didst make strong for thyself,

Deine Hand schütze das Volk deiner Rechten und die Leute, die du dir fest erwählt hast;

18 s o we will not go back from thee. Thou shalt quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

so wollen wir nicht von dir weichen. Laß uns leben, so wollen wir deinen Namen anrufen.

19 T urn us again, O LORD God of the hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

HERR, Gott Zebaoth, tröste uns, laß dein Antlitz leuchten; so genesen wir.
