1 ¶ Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

Siehe, des HERRN Hand ist nicht zu kurz, daß er nicht helfen könne, und seine Ohren sind nicht hart geworden, daß er nicht höre;

2 B ut your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

sondern eure Untugenden scheiden euch und euren Gott voneinander, und eure Sünden verbergen das Angesicht vor euch, daß ihr nicht gehört werdet.

3 F or your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips pronounce lies; your tongue speaks evil.

Denn eure Hände sind mit Blut befleckt und eure Finger mit Untugend; eure Lippen reden Falsches, eure Zunge dichtet Unrechtes.

4 N o one calls for righteousness, nor do any judge by the truth; they trust in vanity, and speak vanities; they conceive trouble and bring forth iniquity.

Es ist niemand, der von Gerechtigkeit predige oder treulich richte. Man vertraut aufs Eitle und redet nichts Tüchtiges; mit Unglück sind sie schwanger und gebären Mühsal.

5 T hey hatch cockatrice’ eggs and weave the spider’s web; whosoever shall eat of their eggs shall die, and if they should squeeze them, a viper shall come out.

Sie brüten Basiliskeneier und wirken Spinnwebe. Ißt man von ihren Eiern, so muß man sterben; zertritt man's aber, so fährt eine Otter heraus.

6 T heir cloth is unfit to be a garment, neither shall they cover themselves with their works; their works are works of violence, and the work of iniquity is in their hands.

Ihre Spinnwebe taugt nicht zu Kleidern, und ihr Gewirke taugt nicht zur Decke; denn ihr Werk ist Unrecht, und in ihren Händen ist Frevel.

7 T heir feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are their paths.

Ihre Füße laufen zum Bösen, und sie sind schnell, unschuldig Blut zu vergießen; ihre Gedanken sind Unrecht, ihr Weg ist eitel Verderben und Schaden;

8 T he way of peace they did not know; nor is there anything straight about their ways; they have wilfully made themselves crooked paths; whosoever goes therein shall not know peace.

sie kennen den Weg des Friedens nicht, und ist kein Recht in ihren Gängen; sie sind verkehrt auf ihren Straßen; wer darauf geht, der hat nimmer Frieden.

9 ¶ Therefore judgment has withdrawn from us, and righteousness has never overtaken us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.

Darum ist das Recht fern von uns, und wir erlangen die Gerechtigkeit nicht. Wir harren aufs Licht, siehe, so wird's finster, auf den Schein, siehe, so wandeln wir im Dunkeln.

10 W e grope for the wall like the blind, and as if we had no eyes we walk by touch; we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in graves as dead men.

Wir tappen nach der Wand wie die Blinden und tappen, wie die keine Augen haben. Wir stoßen uns im Mittag wie in der Dämmerung; wir sind im Düstern wie die Toten.

11 W e all roar like bears and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for saving health, but it has withdrawn from us.

Wir brummen alle wie die Bären und ächzen wie die Tauben; denn wir harren aufs Recht, so ist's nicht da, aufs Heil, so ist's ferne von uns.

12 F or our rebellions are multiplied before thee, and our sins have testified against us; for our iniquities are with us; and we know our sins:

Denn unsere Übertretungen vor dir sind zu viel, und unsre Sünden antworten wider uns. Denn unsre Übertretungen sind bei uns und wir fühlen unsere Sünden:

13 T o rebel and to lie against the LORD, and to depart away from our God; the speaking of libel and rebellion, to conceive, and to speak from the heart words of falsehood,

mit Übertreten und Lügen wider den HERRN und Zurückkehren von unserm Gott und mit Reden von Frevel und Ungehorsam, mit Trachten und dichten falscher Worte aus dem Herzen.

14 a nd that which is right has departed, and righteousness withdrew afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity could not enter.

Und das Recht ist zurückgewichen und Gerechtigkeit fern getreten; denn die Wahrheit fällt auf der Gasse, und Recht kann nicht einhergehen,

15 A nd the truth was taken captive; and he that departed from evil was imprisoned: and the LORD saw it, and it was displeasing in his eyes because that which is right was lost.

und die Wahrheit ist dahin; und wer vom Bösen weicht, der muß jedermanns Raub sein. Solches sieht der HERR, und es gefällt ihm übel, daß kein Recht da ist.

16 ¶ And he saw that there was no man and wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore his arm brought salvation unto him, and his righteous ness, it sustained him.

Und er sieht, daß niemand da ist, und verwundert sich, daß niemand ins Mittel tritt. Darum hilft er sich selbst mit seinem Arm, und seine Gerechtigkeit steht ihm bei.

17 F or he put on righteousness as a coat of mail, and a helmet of saving health upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing and was clad with zeal as a cloak,

Denn er zieht Gerechtigkeit an wie einen Panzer und setzt einen Helm des Heils auf sein Haupt und zieht sich an zur Rache und kleidet sich mit Eifer wie mit einem Rock,

18 s o as to give payment, so as to repay the vengeance of his enemies, and repay his adversaries; to the islands he will give recompense.

als der seinen Widersachern vergelten und seinen Feinden mit Grimm bezahlen will; ja, den Inseln will er bezahlen,

19 S o shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he shall come like a violent river impelled by the breath of the LORD.

daß der Name des HERRN gefürchtet werde vom Niedergang und seine Herrlichkeit vom Aufgang der Sonne, wenn er kommen wird wie ein aufgehaltener Strom, den der Wind des HERRN treibt.

20 A nd the Redeemer shall come to Zion and unto those that turn from the rebellion in Jacob, said the LORD.

Denn denen zu Zion wird ein Erlöser kommen und denen, die sich bekehren von den Sünden in Jakob, spricht der HERR.

21 A nd this shall be my covenant with them, said the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words, which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from now on and for ever.

Und ich mache solchen Bund mit ihnen, spricht der HERR: mein Geist, der bei dir ist, und meine Worte, die ich in deinen Mund gelegt habe, sollen von deinem Munde nicht weichen noch von dem Munde deines Samens und Kindeskindes, spricht der HERR, von nun an bis in Ewigkeit.
