1 ¶ And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had confirmed the kingdom and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

Da aber das Königreich Rehabeams befestigt und bekräftigt ward, verließ er das Gesetz des HERRN und ganz Israel mit ihm.

2 A nd it came to pass that in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak, king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem, because they had rebelled against the LORD,

Aber im fünften Jahr des Königs Rehabeam zog herauf Sisak, der König in Ägypten, wider Jerusalem (denn sie hatten sich versündigt am HERRN)

3 w ith twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen; and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt: the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

mit tausendzweihundert Wagen und mit sechzigtausend Reiter, und das Volk war nicht zu zählen, das mit ihm kam aus Ägypten: Libyer, Suchiter und Mohren.

4 A nd he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah and came to Jerusalem.

Und er gewann die festen Städte, die in Juda waren, und kam bis gen Jerusalem.

5 T hen Shemaiah, the prophet, went to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus hath the LORD said, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore, I have also left you in the hand of Shishak.

Da kam Semaja, der Prophet, zu Rehabeam und zu den Obersten Juda's, die sich gen Jerusalem versammelt hatten vor Sisak, und sprach zu ihnen: So spricht der HERR: Ihr habt mich verlassen; darum habe ich euch auch verlassen in Sisaks Hand.

6 A nd the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.

Da demütigten sich die Obersten in Israel mit dem König und sprachen: Der HERR ist gerecht.

7 A nd when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore, I will not destroy them, but I will deliver them shortly; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

Als aber der HERR sah, daß sie sich demütigten, kam das Wort des HERRN zu Semaja und sprach: Sie haben sich gedemütigt; darum will ich sie nicht verderben, sondern ich will ihnen ein wenig Errettung geben, daß mein Grimm nicht triefe auf Jerusalem durch Sisak.

8 N evertheless, they shall be his slaves that they may know what it is to serve me and to serve the kingdoms of the nations.

Doch sollen sie ihm untertan sein, daß sie innewerden, was es sei, mir dienen und den Königreichen in den Landen dienen.

9 S o Shishak, king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king’s house; he took it all; he also carried away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

Also zog Sisak, der König in Ägypten, herauf gen Jerusalem und nahm die Schätze im Hause des HERRN und die Schätze im Hause des Königs und nahm alles weg und nahm auch die goldenen Schilde, die Salomo machen ließ.

10 A nd in their place King Rehoboam made shields of brass and committed them to the hands of the princes of the guard that kept the entrance of the king’s house.

An deren Statt ließ der König Rehabeam eherne Schilde machen und befahl sie den Obersten der Trabanten, die an der Tür des Königshauses hüteten.

11 A nd when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and brought them, and afterward they returned them again into the guard chamber.

Und so oft der König in des HERRN Haus ging, kamen die Trabanten und trugen sie und brachten sie wieder in der Trabanten Kammer.

12 A nd when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him that he would not destroy him altogether; and also in Judah things went well.

Und weil er sich demütigte, wandte sich des HERRN Zorn von ihm, daß nicht alles verderbt ward. Denn es war in Juda noch etwas Gutes.

13 ¶ So King Rehoboam was strengthened and reigned in Jerusalem; and Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess.

Also ward Rehabeam, der König, bekräftigt in Jerusalem und regierte. Einundvierzig Jahre alt war Rehabeam da er König ward, und regierte siebzehn Jahre zu Jerusalem in der Stadt, die der HERR erwählt hatte aus allen Stämmen Israels, daß er seinen Namen dahin stellte. Seine Mutter hieß Naema, eine Ammonitin.

14 A nd he did evil because he did not prepare his heart to seek the LORD.

Und er handelte übel und schickte sein Herz nicht, daß er den HERRN suchte.

15 N ow the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah, the prophet, and of Iddo, the seer concerning genealogies? And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

Die Geschichten aber Rehabeams, beide, die ersten und die letzten, sind geschrieben in den Geschichten Semajas, des Propheten, und Iddos, des Sehers, und aufgezeichnet, dazu die Kriege Rehabeam und Jerobeam ihr Leben lang.

16 A nd Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David, and Abijah, his son, reigned in his stead.

Und Rehabeam entschlief mit seinen Vätern und ward begraben in der Stadt Davids. Und sein Sohn Abia ward König an seiner Statt.
