1 ¶ And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had confirmed the kingdom and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

Cuando el reino de Roboam se había afianzado y fortalecido, él abandonó la ley del Señor y todo Israel con él.

2 A nd it came to pass that in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak, king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem, because they had rebelled against the LORD,

Y sucedió que en el año quinto del rey Roboam, debido a que ellos habían sido infieles al Señor, Sisac, rey de Egipto, subió contra Jerusalén

3 w ith twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen; and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt: the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

con mil doscientos carros y sesenta mil hombres de a caballo. Y era innumerable el pueblo que vino con él de Egipto: libios, suquienos y etíopes.

4 A nd he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah and came to Jerusalem.

Y tomó las ciudades fortificadas de Judá y llegó hasta Jerusalén.

5 T hen Shemaiah, the prophet, went to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus hath the LORD said, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore, I have also left you in the hand of Shishak.

Entonces el profeta Semaías vino a Roboam y a los príncipes de Judá que se habían reunido en Jerusalén por causa de Sisac, y les dijo: Así dice el Señor: “Vosotros me habéis abandonado, por eso también yo os abandono en manos de Sisac.”

6 A nd the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.

Y los príncipes de Israel y el rey se humillaron y dijeron: Justo es el Señor.

7 A nd when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore, I will not destroy them, but I will deliver them shortly; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

Cuando el Señor vio que se habían humillado, vino la palabra del Señor a Semaías, diciendo: Se han humillado; no los destruiré, sino que les concederé cierta libertad y mi furor no se derramará sobre Jerusalén por medio de Sisac.

8 N evertheless, they shall be his slaves that they may know what it is to serve me and to serve the kingdoms of the nations.

Pero serán sus siervos para que aprendan la diferencia entre servirme a mí y servir a los reinos de los países.

9 S o Shishak, king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king’s house; he took it all; he also carried away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

Subió, pues, Sisac, rey de Egipto, contra Jerusalén y tomó los tesoros de la casa del Señor y los tesoros del palacio del rey. De todo se apoderó, tomó hasta los escudos de oro que había hecho Salomón.

10 A nd in their place King Rehoboam made shields of brass and committed them to the hands of the princes of the guard that kept the entrance of the king’s house.

Entonces el rey Roboam hizo en su lugar escudos de bronce, y los entregó al cuidado de los jefes de la guardia que custodiaban la entrada de la casa del rey.

11 A nd when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and brought them, and afterward they returned them again into the guard chamber.

Y sucedía que cuando el rey entraba en la casa del Señor, venían los de la guardia y los llevaban, y después los devolvían a la sala de los de la guardia.

12 A nd when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him that he would not destroy him altogether; and also in Judah things went well.

Cuando él se humilló, la ira del Señor se apartó de él para no destruir lo totalmente; además las cosas mejoraron en Judá.

13 ¶ So King Rehoboam was strengthened and reigned in Jerusalem; and Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess.

Se fortaleció, pues, el rey Roboam en Jerusalén, y reinó. Y Roboam tenía cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó diecisiete años en Jerusalén, la ciudad que el Señor había escogido de entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner allí su nombre. Y el nombre de su madre era Naama, amonita.

14 A nd he did evil because he did not prepare his heart to seek the LORD.

Y él hizo lo malo porque no dispuso su corazón para buscar al Señor.

15 N ow the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah, the prophet, and of Iddo, the seer concerning genealogies? And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

Los hechos de Roboam, los primeros y los postreros, ¿no están escritos en los libros del profeta Semaías y del vidente Iddo, conforme al registro genealógico? Y hubo guerras continuamente entre Roboam y Jeroboam.

16 A nd Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David, and Abijah, his son, reigned in his stead.

Y durmió Roboam con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de David; y su hijo Abías reinó en su lugar.
