1 ¶ In those days, as before, there was a great multitude, and they had nothing to eat; Jesus called his disciples unto him and said unto them,

En aquellos días, cuando de nuevo había una gran multitud que no tenía qué comer, Jesús llamó a sus discípulos y les dijo:

2 I have mercy on the multitude because they have now been with me three days and have nothing to eat;

Tengo compasión de la multitud porque hace ya tres días que están conmigo y no tienen qué comer;

3 A nd if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way, for some of them came from afar.

y si los despido sin comer a sus casas, desfallecerán en el camino, pues algunos de ellos han venido de lejos.

4 A nd his disciples answered him, From where can anyone satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

Sus discípulos le respondieron: ¿Dónde podrá alguien encontrar lo suficiente para saciar de pan a éstos aquí en el desierto?

5 A nd he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

Y El les preguntó: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Y ellos respondieron: Siete.

6 A nd he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground; and taking the seven loaves and having given thanks, he broke them and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they set them before the multitude.

Entonces mandó a la multitud que se recostara en el suelo; y tomando los siete panes, después de dar gracias, los partió y los iba dando a sus discípulos para que los pusieran delante de la gente; y ellos los sirvieron a la multitud.

7 A nd they also had a few small fishes; and he blessed them and commanded to set them also before them.

También tenían unos pocos pececillos; y después de bendecirlos, mandó que éstos también los sirvieran.

8 S o they ate and were filled; and they took up of the broken food that was left seven baskets.

Todos comieron y se saciaron; y recogieron de lo que sobró de los pedazos, siete canastas.

9 A nd those that had eaten were about four thousand; and he dispatched them.

Los que comieron eran unos cuatro mil; y los despidió.

10 ¶ And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

Y subiendo enseguida a la barca con sus discípulos, fue a la región de Dalmanuta. Los fariseos buscan señal

11 A nd the Pharisees came forth and began to argue with him, demanding of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

Entonces salieron los fariseos y comenzaron a discutir con El, buscando de El una señal del cielo para ponerle a prueba.

12 A nd crying out in his spirit, he said, Why does this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

Suspirando profundamente en su espíritu, dijo: ¿Por qué pide señal esta generación? En verdad os digo que no se le dará señal a esta generación.

13 A nd he left them and, entering into the ship again, departed to the other side.

Y dejándolos, se embarcó otra vez y se fue al otro lado. La levadura de los fariseos

14 N ow the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

Y se habían olvidado de tomar panes; y no tenían consigo en la barca sino sólo un pan.

15 A nd he commanded them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the leaven of Herod.

Y El les encargaba diciendo: ¡Tened cuidado! Guardaos de la levadura de los fariseos y de la levadura de Herodes.

16 A nd they argued among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

Y ellos discutían entre sí que no tenían panes.

17 A nd as Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why argue ye because ye have no bread? Do ye not consider nor understand? is your heart yet blind?

Dándose cuenta Jesús, les dijo: ¿Por qué discutís que no tenéis pan? ¿Aún no comprendéis ni entendéis? ¿Tenéis el corazón endurecido ?

18 H aving eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

Teniendo ojos, ¿no veis ? Y teniendo oidos, ¿no ois ? ¿No recordáis

19 W hen I broke the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They said unto him, Twelve.

cuando partí los cinco panes entre los cinco mil ? ¿Cuántas cestas llenas de pedazos recogisteis? Y ellos le dijeron: Doce.

20 A nd when the seven loaves among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

Y cuando partí los siete panes entre los cuatro mil, ¿cuántas canastas llenas de los pedazos recogisteis? Y ellos le dijeron: Siete.

21 A nd he said unto them, How is it that ye do not yet understand?

Y les dijo: ¿Aún no entendéis ? El ciego de Betsaida

22 ¶ And he came to Bethsaida, and they bring a blind man unto him and beseech him to touch him.

Llegaron a Betsaida, y le trajeron un ciego y le rogaron que lo tocara.

23 S o, taking the blind man by the hand, he led him out of the town; and spitting into his eyes and putting his hands upon them, he asked him if he saw anything.

Tomando de la mano al ciego, lo sacó fuera de la aldea; y después de escupir en sus ojos y de poner las manos sobre él, le preguntó: ¿Ves algo?

24 A nd looking, he said, I see men; I see that they walk as trees.

Y levantando la vista, dijo: Veo a los hombres, pero los veo como árboles que caminan.

25 A fter that, he put his hands again upon his eyes and caused him to see; and he was whole and saw everyone, far away and clearly.

Entonces Jesús puso otra vez las manos sobre sus ojos, y él miró fijamente y fue restaurado; y lo veía todo con claridad.

26 A nd he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

Y lo envió a su casa diciendo: Ni aun en la aldea entres. La confesión de Pedro

27 ¶ And Jesus and his disciples went out into the towns of Caesarea Philippi; and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Who do men say that I am?

Salió Jesús con sus discípulos a las aldeas de Cesarea de Filipo; y en el camino preguntó a sus discípulos, diciéndoles: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que soy yo?

28 A nd they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others, One of the prophets.

Y le respondieron, diciendo: Unos, Juan el Bautista; y otros, Elías; pero otros, uno de los profetas.

29 T hen he said unto them, But who say ye that I am? And Peter answered and said unto him, Thou art the Christ!

El les preguntó de nuevo: Pero vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy yo? Respondiendo Pedro, le dijo: Tú eres el Cristo.

30 A nd he commanded them that they should tell no one of this regarding him.

Y El les advirtió severamente que no hablaran de El a nadie. Jesús anuncia su muerte y resurrección

31 A nd he began to teach them that it was convenient that the Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and of the princes of the priests and of the scribes, and be killed and after three days rise again.

Y comenzó a enseñarles que el Hijo del Hombre debía padecer muchas cosas, y ser rechazado por los ancianos, los principales sacerdotes y los escribas, y ser muerto, y después de tres días resucitar.

32 A nd he spoke this word clearly. Then Peter took him and began to rebuke him.

Y les decía estas palabras claramente. Y Pedro le llevó aparte y comenzó a reprenderle.

33 A nd he, turning about and looking at his disciples, rebuked Peter, saying, Get thyself from me, Satan, for thou knowest not the things that are of God, but the things that are of men.

Mas El volviéndose y mirando a sus discípulos, reprendió a Pedro y le dijo: ¡Quítate de delante de mí, Satanás!, porque no tienes en mente las cosas de Dios, sino las de los hombres. Condiciones para seguir a Jesús

34 A nd calling the multitude unto him with his disciples, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

Y llamando a la multitud y a sus discípulos, les dijo: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz, y sígame.

35 F or whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

Porque el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero el que pierda su vida por causa de mí y del evangelio, la salvará.

36 F or what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?

Pues, ¿de qué le sirve a un hombre ganar el mundo entero y perder su alma?

37 O r what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Pues ¿qué dará un hombre a cambio de su alma?

38 W hosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Porque cualquiera que se avergüence de mí y de mis palabras en esta generación adúltera y pecadora, el Hijo del Hombre también se avergonzará de él, cuando venga en la gloria de su Padre con los santos ángeles.
