1 ¶ He that being often reproved hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed and that without remedy.

El hombre que después de mucha reprensión endurece la cerviz, de repente será quebrantado sin remedio.

2 ¶ When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn.

Cuando los justos aumentan, el pueblo se alegra; pero cuando el impío gobierna, el pueblo gime.

3 ¶ Whosoever loves wisdom causes his father to rejoice, but he that maintains harlots shall lose his inheritance.

El que ama la sabiduría alegra a su padre, pero el que anda con rameras malgasta su fortuna.

4 ¶ The king by judgment establishes the land, but he that receives gifts shall overthrow it.

El rey con la justicia afianza la tierra, pero el hombre que acepta soborno la destruye.

5 ¶ The man that flatters his neighbour spreads a net for his feet.

El hombre que adula a su prójimo tiende una red ante sus pasos.

6 ¶ In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare, but the righteous shall sing and rejoice.

El hombre malo es atrapado en la transgresión, pero el justo canta y se regocija.

7 ¶ The righteous considers the cause of the poor, but the wicked does not understand wisdom.

El justo se preocupa por la causa de los pobres, pero el impío no entiende tal preocupación.

8 ¶ Scornful men bring a city into a snare, but wise men turn away wrath.

Los escarnecedores agitan la ciudad, pero los sabios alejan la ira.

9 ¶ If a wise man contends with a foolish man, whether he rages or laughs, there is no rest.

Cuando un sabio tiene controversia con un necio, éste se enoja o se ríe, y no hay sosiego.

10 ¶ The bloodthirsty hate the perfect, but the just seek his soul.

Los hombres sanguinarios odian al intachable, pero los rectos se preocupan por su alma.

11 ¶ The fool gives full rein to his spirit, but the wise man in the end will bring it into rest.

El necio da rienda suelta a su ira, pero el sabio la reprime.

12 ¶ Of the ruler who hearkens unto the lying word, all his ministers are evil.

Si un gobernante presta atención a palabras mentirosas, todos sus servidores se vuelven impíos.

13 ¶ The poor and the usurer meet together; the LORD lightens both their eyes.

El pobre y el opresor tienen esto en común: el Señor da la luz a los ojos de ambos.

14 ¶ The king that judges the poor with truth, his throne shall be established for ever.

El rey que juzga con verdad a los pobres afianzará su trono para siempre.

15 ¶ The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself shall bring his mother to shame.

La vara y la reprensión dan sabiduría, pero el niño consentido avergüenza a su madre.

16 ¶ When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases, but the righteous shall see their fall.

Cuando aumentan los impíos, aumenta la transgresión, pero los justos verán su caída.

17 ¶ Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; he shall give delight unto thy soul.

Corrige a tu hijo y te dará descanso, y dará alegría a tu alma.

18 ¶ Without prophetic vision, the people shall perish, but he that keeps the law is blessed.

Donde no hay visión, el pueblo se desenfrena, pero bienaventurado es el que guarda la ley.

19 ¶ A slave will not be corrected by words, for though he understands he will not obey.

Un siervo no se corrige sólo con palabras; aunque entienda, no responderá.

20 ¶ Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

¿Ves a un hombre precipitado en sus palabras ? Más esperanza hay para el necio que para él.

21 ¶ He that gives freely unto his slave from a child shall have him become his son in the end.

El que mima a su siervo desde la niñez, al final lo tendrá por hijo.

22 ¶ The angry man stirs up strife, and the furious man abounds in transgression.

El hombre airado suscita rencillas, y el hombre violento abunda en transgresiones.

23 ¶ A man’s pride shall bring him low, but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

El orgullo del hombre lo humillará, pero el de espíritu humilde obtendrá honores.

24 ¶ Whosoever is partner with a thief hates his own soul; he hears cursing, and does not disclose it.

El que se asocia con un ladrón aborrece su propia vida; oye el juramento, pero no dice nada.

25 ¶ The fear of man brings a snare, but whosoever puts his trust in the LORD shall be lifted up.

El temor al hombre es un lazo, pero el que confía en el Señor estará seguro.

26 ¶ Many seek the ruler’s favour, but each man’s judgment comes from the LORD.

Muchos buscan el favor del gobernante, pero del Señor viene la justicia para el hombre.

27 ¶ An unjust man is an abomination to the just, and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

Abominación para los justos es el inicuo, y abominación para el impío el recto en su camino.
