1 ¶ And David said in his heart, In the end I shall be killed some day by the hand of Saul; there is nothing better for me than that I should escape once and for all into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more within the borders of Israel; so shall I escape out of his hand.

Entonces David se dijo: Ahora bien, voy a perecer algún día por la mano de Saúl. Lo mejor para mí es huir a la tierra de los filisteos. Saúl se cansará, y no me buscará más en todo el territorio de Israel, y escaparé de su mano.

2 A nd David arose, and he went over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.

Se levantó, pues, David y se pasó con los seiscientos hombres que estaban con él a Aquis, hijo de Maoc, rey de Gat.

3 A nd David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, each one with his household, David with his two wives, Ahinoam, the Jezreelitess, and Abigail, who had been the wife of Nabal of Carmel.

Y moró David con Aquis en Gat, él y sus hombres, cada cual con los de su casa; David con sus dos mujeres Ahinoam jezreelita, y Abigail la de Carmel, viuda de Nabal.

4 A nd it was told Saul that David had fled to Gath, and he sought him no more.

Y le dieron la noticia a Saúl que David había huido a Gat, y no lo buscó más.

5 A nd David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let me be given a place in one of the cities of the land that I may dwell there, for why should thy slave dwell in the royal city with thee?

Y David dijo a Aquis: Si he hallado ahora gracia ante tus ojos, que me den un lugar en una de las aldeas en el campo para que habite allí; pues, ¿por qué ha de morar tu siervo contigo en la ciudad real?

6 T hen Achish gave him Ziklag that day. Therefore, Ziklag pertains to the kings of Judah unto this day.

Aquis le dio Siclag aquel día; por eso Siclag ha pertenecido a los reyes de Judá hasta hoy.

7 A nd the number of days that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was four months and some days.

El número de los días que David habitó en el territorio de los filisteos fue un año y cuatro meses.

8 ¶ And David and his men went up and invaded the Geshurites and the Gezrites and the Amalekites, for these had inhabited the land for a long time, from as thou goest unto Shur even unto the land of Egypt.

Y subieron David y sus hombres e hicieron incursiones contra los gesuritas, los gezritas y los amalecitas; porque ellos eran los habitantes de la tierra desde tiempos antiguos, según se va a Shur, hasta la tierra de Egipto.

9 A nd David smote the land and left neither man nor woman alive and took away the sheep and the oxen and the asses and the camels and the apparel and returned and came to Achish.

David atacaba el territorio, y no dejaba con vida hombre ni mujer, y se llevaba las ovejas, el ganado, los asnos, los camellos y la ropa. Entonces regresaba y venía a Aquis.

10 A nd Achish would say, Where have ye raided today? And David would say, Against the south of Judah and towards the Negev of the Jerahmeelites or towards the Negev of the Kenites.

Y Aquis decía: ¿Dónde atacasteis hoy ? Y David respondía: Contra el Neguev de Judá, contra el Neguev de Jerameel y contra el Neguev de los ceneos.

11 A nd David left neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David. And this was his manner all the time he dwelt in the land of the Philistines.

David no dejaba con vida hombre ni mujer para traer a Gat, diciendo: No sea que nos descubran, diciendo: “Así ha hecho David, y así ha sido su costumbre todo el tiempo que ha morado en el territorio de los filisteos.”

12 A nd Achish believed David, saying, He is making himself abominable unto his people of Israel; therefore, he shall be my slave for ever.

Aquis confiaba en David diciendo: En verdad que se ha hecho odioso a su pueblo Israel y será mi servidor para siempre.
