1 ¶ The Pharisees and the Sadducees came to tempt him; they asked him to show them a sign from the heaven.

Entonces los fariseos y los saduceos se acercaron a Jesús, y para ponerle a prueba le pidieron que les mostrara una señal del cielo.

2 B ut he answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather, for the heaven is glowing with an aurora.

Pero respondiendo El, les dijo: Al caer la tarde decís: “ Hará buen tiempo, porque el cielo está rojizo.”

3 A nd in the morning, It will be foul weather today, for the heaven has an aurora and is cloudy. O ye hypocrites, ye know how to make decisions based on the face of the heaven, and regarding the signs of the times are ye unable?

Y por la mañana: “Hoy habrá tempestad, porque el cielo está rojizo y amenazador.” ¿Sabéis discernir el aspecto del cielo, pero no podéis discernir las señales de los tiempos ?

4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and no sign shall be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and departed.

Una generación perversa y adúltera busca señal, y no se le dará señal, sino la señal de Jonás. Y dejándolos, se fue. La levadura de los fariseos y saduceos

5 ¶ And when his disciples were coming from the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

Los discípulos, al pasar al otro lado, se habían olvidado de tomar panes.

6 T hen Jesus said unto them, Take heed and keep yourselves from the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Y Jesús les dijo: Estad atentos y guardaos de la levadura de los fariseos y saduceos.

7 A nd they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

Y ellos discutían entre sí, diciendo: Lo dice porque no tomamos panes.

8 W hich when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves that ye have brought no bread?

Pero Jesús, dándose cuenta, dijo: Hombres de poca fe, ¿por qué discutís entre vosotros que no tenéis pan?

9 D o ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

¿Todavía no entendéis ni recordáis los cinco panes para los cinco mil, y cuántas cestas recogisteis ?

10 N either the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

¿Ni los siete panes para los cuatro mil, y cuántas canastas recogisteis ?

11 H ow is it that ye do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread that ye should keep yourselves from the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

¿Cómo es que no entendéis que no os hablé de los panes? Pero guardaos de la levadura de los fariseos y saduceos.

12 T hen they understood that he bade them not to keep themselves from the leaven of bread, but from the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Entonces entendieron que no les había dicho que se guardaran de la levadura de los panes, sino de la enseñanza de los fariseos y saduceos. La confesión de Pedro

13 ¶ When Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I the Son of man am?

Cuando llegó Jesús a la región de Cesarea de Filipo, preguntó a sus discípulos, diciendo: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que es el Hijo del Hombre ?

14 A nd they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist; some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.

Y ellos dijeron: Unos, Juan el Bautista; y otros, Elías; pero otros, Jeremías o uno de los profetas.

15 H e said unto them, But who say ye that I am?

El les dijo: Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy yo?

16 A nd Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Respondiendo Simón Pedro, dijo: Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo del Dios viviente.

17 A nd Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in the heavens.

Y Jesús, respondiendo, le dijo: Bienaventurado eres, Simón, hijo de Jonás, porque esto no te lo reveló carne ni sangre, sino mi Padre que está en los cielos.

18 A nd I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, a small rock and upon the large rock I will build my congregation, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against her.

Yo también te digo que tú eres Pedro, y sobre esta roca edificaré mi iglesia; y las puertas del Hades no prevalecerán contra ella.

19 A nd I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of the heavens, and whatever thou shalt bind on the earth shall be bound in the heavens, and whatever thou shalt loose on the earth shall be loosed in the heaven.

Yo te daré las llaves del reino de los cielos; y lo que ates en la tierra, será atado en los cielos; y lo que desates en la tierra, será desatado en los cielos.

20 T hen he charged his disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.

Entonces ordenó a los discípulos que a nadie dijeran que El era el Cristo. Jesús anuncia su muerte y resurrección

21 ¶ From that time forth Jesus began to declare unto his disciples, how it was expedient for him to go unto Jerusalem and to suffer many things of the elders and the princes of the priests and of the scribes and to be killed and to be raised again the third day.

Desde entonces Jesucristo comenzó a declarar a sus discípulos que debía ir a Jerusalén y sufrir muchas cosas de parte de los ancianos, de los principales sacerdotes y de los escribas, y ser muerto, y resucitar al tercer día.

22 T hen Peter, taking him aside, began to rebuke him, saying, Lord, be it far from thee; in no wise shall this happen unto thee.

Y tomándole aparte, Pedro comenzó a reprenderle, diciendo: ¡No lo permita Dios, Señor! Eso nunca te acontecerá.

23 B ut he turned and said unto Peter, Remove thyself from before me, Satan; thou art an offence unto me, for thou dost not understand that which is of God, but that which is of men.

Pero volviéndose El, dijo a Pedro: ¡Quítate de delante de mí, Satanás! Me eres piedra de tropiezo; porque no estás pensando en las cosas de Dios, sino en las de los hombres. Condiciones para seguir a Jesús

24 ¶ Then Jesus said unto his disciples, If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

Entonces Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz y sígame.

25 F or whosoever desires to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Porque el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero el que pierda su vida por causa de mí, la hallará.

26 F or what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Pues ¿qué provecho obtendrá un hombre si gana el mundo entero, pero pierde su alma? O ¿qué dará un hombre a cambio de su alma?

27 F or the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward everyone according to their works.

Porque el Hijo del Hombre ha de venir en la gloria de su Padre con sus ángeles, y entonces recompensara a cada uno segun su conducta.

28 V erily I say unto you, There are some standing here who shall not taste of death until they have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

En verdad os digo que hay algunos de los que están aquí que no probarán la muerte hasta que vean al Hijo del Hombre venir en su reino.
