1 ¶ And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

Y aconteció que en los días de Acaz, hijo de Jotam, hijo de Uzías, rey de Judá, subió Rezín, rey de Aram, con Peka, hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, a Jerusalén para combatir contra ella, pero no pudieron tomarla.

2 A nd it was told the house of David, saying Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved and the heart of his people as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.

Y se dio aviso a la casa de David, diciendo: Los arameos han acampado en Efraín. Y se estremeció el corazón del rey y el corazón de su pueblo como se estremecen los árboles del bosque ante el viento.

3 T hen the LORD said unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the washer’s field

Entonces el Señor dijo a Isaías: Sal ahora al encuentro de Acaz, tú, y tu hijo Sear-jasub, al extremo del acueducto del estanque superior, en la calzada del campo del Batanero,

4 a nd say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; do not fear, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

y dile: “Estate alerta, y ten calma; no temas ni desmaye tu corazón ante estos dos cabos de tizones humeantes, a causa de la ira encendida de Rezín de Aram y del hijo de Remalías.

5 B ecause Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah have taken evil counsel against thee saying,

“Porque Aram ha tramado mal contra ti, junto con Efraín y el hijo de Remalías, diciendo:

6 L et us go up against Judah and vex it, and let us divide it between us and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:

‘Subamos contra Judá y aterroricémosla, hagamos una brecha en sus murallas y pongamos por rey en medio de ella al hijo de Tabeel.’

7 T hus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

“ Por tanto, así dice el Señor Dios: ‘No prevalecerá ni se cumplirá.

8 F or the head of Syria shall be Damascus, and the head of Damascus Rezin; and within sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken, and it shall never again be a people.

Porque la cabeza de Aram es Damasco, y la cabeza de Damasco es Rezín (y dentro de otros sesenta y cinco años Efraín será destrozado, dejando de ser pueblo),

9 I n the meantime the head of Ephraim shall be Samaria, and the head of Samaria, Remaliah’s son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

y la cabeza de Efraín es Samaria, y la cabeza de Samaria es el hijo de Remalías. Si no creéis, de cierto no permaneceréis.’”

10 ¶ Moreover the LORD spoke again unto Ahaz, saying

El Señor habló de nuevo a Acaz, diciendo:

11 A sk a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

Pide para ti una señal del Señor tu Dios que sea tan profunda como el Seol o tan alta como el cielo.

12 B ut Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.

Pero Acaz respondió: No pediré, ni tentaré al Señor.

13 T hen said Isaiah, Hear ye now, O house of David, Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

Entonces Isaías dijo: Oíd ahora, casa de David: ¿Os parece poco cansar a los hombres, que también cansaréis a mi Dios ?

14 T herefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Immanuel.

Por tanto, el Señor mismo os dará una señal: He aquí, una virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrá por nombre Emmanuel.

15 H e shall eat butter and honey that he may know to refuse the evil and choose the good.

Comerá cuajada y miel hasta que sepa lo suficiente para desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno.

16 F or before the child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good; the land that thou dost abhor shall be forsaken of both her kings.

Porque antes que el niño sepa desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno, será abandonada la tierra cuyos dos reyes tú temes.

17 ¶ The LORD shall bring upon thee and upon thy people and upon thy father’s house days that have not come since the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even unto the king of Assyria.

El Señor hará venir sobre ti, sobre tu pueblo y sobre la casa de tu padre, días como nunca han venido desde el día en que Efraín se apartó de Judá, es decir, al rey de Asiria.

18 A nd it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

Y sucederá en aquel día que el Señor silbará a la mosca que está en lo más remoto de los ríos de Egipto, y a la abeja que está en la tierra de Asiria;

19 A nd they shall come and all of them shall rest in the desolate valleys and in the holes of the rocks and upon all thorns and upon all bushes.

y todas ellas vendrán y se posarán en los precipicios de las barrancas, en las hendiduras de las peñas, en todos los espinos y en todos los abrevaderos.

20 I n the same day the Lord shall raze with a razor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet and it shall also consume the beard.

En aquel día, con navaja alquilada en las regiones más allá del Eufrates, es decir, con el rey de Asiria, el Señor afeitará a Israel la cabeza y el pelo de las piernas, y también le quitará la barba.

21 A nd it shall come to pass in that day that a man shall nourish a young cow and two sheep;

En aquel día cada uno criará una novilla y un par de ovejas;

22 a nd it shall come to pass for the abundance of milk that they shall give, he shall eat butter; for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.

y por la abundancia de leche que darán, comerá cuajada, porque todo el que quede en la tierra comerá cuajada y miel.

23 A nd it shall come to pass in that day that in the place where there were a thousand vines that were worth a thousand shekels of silver, it shall even be for the briers and for the thorns.

En aquel día, en todo lugar donde había mil vides valoradas en mil siclos de plata, habrá zarzas y espinos.

24 W ith arrows and with bows shall men come there because all the land shall become briers and thorns.

Se irá allá con arcos y flechas, porque toda la tierra será zarzas y espinos.

25 B ut the fear of briers and thorns shall not come unto all the hills that were dug with the hoe, but they shall be for pasture of oxen and for the treading of the lesser cattle.

Y en cuanto a todas las colinas que eran cultivadas con la azada, no irás allá por temor de las zarzas y espinos; se convertirán en lugar para soltar los bueyes y para ser hollado por las ovejas.
