1 ¶ In the year twenty-seven of Jeroboam, king of Israel, Azariah, son of Amaziah, king of Judah, began to reign.

2 H e was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

Tenía dieciséis años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cincuenta y dos años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Jecolía, de Jerusalén.

3 A nd he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

4 B ut with all this, the high places were not removed; the people sacrificed and burnt incense still on the high places.

Sólo que los lugares altos no fueron quitados; el pueblo todavía sacrificaba y quemaba incienso en los lugares altos.

5 A nd the LORD smote the king so that he was a leper unto the day of his death and dwelt in a separate house. And Jotham, the king’s son, was over the house, judging the people of the land.

Y el Señor hirió al rey, y quedó leproso hasta el día de su muerte. Y habitó en una casa separada, mientras Jotam, hijo del rey, estaba al frente de la casa, gobernando al pueblo de la tierra.

7 S o Azariah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David; and Jotham, his son, reigned in his stead.

8 ¶ In the year thirty-eight of Azariah, king of Judah, Zachariah, the son of Jeroboam, began to reign over Israel in Samaria six months.

9 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his fathers had done; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, como habían hecho sus padres; no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, hizo pecar a Israel.

10 A nd Shallum, the son of Jabesh, conspired against him, and smote him before the people and slew him, and reigned in his stead.

Entonces Salum, hijo de Jabes, conspiró contra él y lo hirió delante del pueblo y lo mató, y reinó en su lugar.

11 A nd the rest of the acts of Zachariah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

Los demás hechos de Zacarías, he aquí, están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Israel.

12 T his was the word of the LORD which he spoke unto Jehu, saying, Thy sons shall sit on the throne of Israel unto the fourth generation. And so it came to pass.

Esta es la palabra que el Señor habló a Jehú, diciendo: Tus hijos hasta la cuarta generación se sentarán en el trono de Israel. Y así fue.

13 S hallum, the son of Jabesh, began to reign in the year thirty-nine of Uzziah, king of Judah; and he reigned a full month in Samaria.

Salum, hijo de Jabes, comenzó a reinar en el año treinta y nueve de Uzías, rey de Judá, y reinó un mes en Samaria.

14 F or Menahem, the son of Gadi, went up from Tirzah and came to Samaria and smote Shallum, the son of Jabesh, in Samaria and slew him and reigned in his stead.

Entonces Manahem, hijo de Gadi, subió de Tirsa y vino a Samaria, e hirió a Salum, hijo de Jabes, en Samaria, y lo mató y reinó en su lugar.

16 T hen Menahem smote Tiphsah and all that were therein and the borders thereof from Tirzah because they had not opened to him, therefore, he smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.

Entonces Manahem hirió a Tifsa y a todos los que estaban en ella y en sus alrededores desde Tirsa, porque no le abrieron las puertas, por eso la hirió; y abrió el vientre a todas las mujeres que estaban encinta.

17 I n the year thirty-nine of Azariah, king of Judah, Menahem, the son of Gadi, began to reign over Israel and reigned ten years in Samaria.

En el año treinta y nueve de Azarías, rey de Judá, Manahem, hijo de Gadi, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel; y reinó diez años en Samaria.

18 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart all his days from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor; todos sus días no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, hizo pecar a Israel.

19 A nd Pul, the king of Assyria, came against the land; and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.

Pul, rey de Asiria, vino contra el país, y Manahem dio a Pul mil talentos de plata para que su mano estuviera con él para fortalecer el reino bajo su mando.

20 A nd Menahem exacted the money upon Israel, from all the mighty men of virtue, from each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back and did not stay there in the land.

Entonces Manahem exigió el dinero a Israel, a todos los ricos poderosos, de cada uno cincuenta siclos de plata para pagar al rey de Asiria. Y el rey de Asiria se volvió y no se detuvo allí en el país.

23 I n the year fifty of Azariah, king of Judah, Pekahiah, the son of Menahem, began to reign over Israel in Samaria and reigned two years.

En el año cincuenta de Azarías, rey de Judá, Pekaía, hijo de Manahem, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria, y reinó dos años.

24 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor; no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, hizo pecar a Israel.

25 B ut Pekah, the son of Remaliah a captain of his, conspired against him and smote him in Samaria, in the palace of the king’s house, with Argob and Arieh and with him fifty men of the sons of Gilead; and he killed him and reigned in his place.

Entonces su oficial, Peka, hijo de Remalías, conspiró contra él y lo hirió en Samaria, en la ciudadela de la casa del rey, y también a Argob y a Arie; y con él estaban cincuenta hombres de los hijos de los galaaditas. Y lo mató y reinó en su lugar.

27 I n the year fifty-two of Azariah, king of Judah, Pekah, the son of Remaliah, began to reign over Israel in Samaria and reigned twenty years.

En el año cincuenta y dos de Azarías, rey de Judá, Peka, hijo de Remalías, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria, y reinó veinte años.

28 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor; no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, hizo pecar a Israel.

29 I n the days of Pekah, king of Israel, came Tiglathpileser, king of Assyria, and took Ijon, Abelbethmaachah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, Galilee, and all the land of Naphtali and carried them captive to Assyria.

En los días de Peka, rey de Israel, vino Tiglat-pileser, rey de Asiria, y tomó Ijón, Abel-bet-maaca, Janoa, Cedes, Hazor, Galaad y Galilea, toda la tierra de Neftalí; y los llevó cautivos a Asiria.

30 A nd Hosea, the son of Elah, made a conspiracy against Pekah, the son of Remaliah, and smote him and slew him and reigned in his stead, in the year twenty of Jotham, the son of Uzziah.

Y Oseas, hijo de Ela, tramó una conspiración contra Peka, hijo de Remalías, y lo hirió y le dio muerte; y reinó en su lugar, en el año veinte de Jotam, hijo de Uzías.

32 ¶ In the second year of Pekah, the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, began to reign.

En el segundo año de Peka, hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Jotam, hijo de Uzías, rey de Judá.

33 H e was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.

Tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén; y el nombre de su madre era Jerusa, hija de Sadoc.

34 A nd he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD; he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.

E hizo lo recto ante los ojos del Señor; hizo conforme a todo lo que su padre Uzías había hecho.

35 W ith all this, the high places were not removed; the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the house of the LORD.

Sólo que los lugares altos no fueron quitados; el pueblo todavía sacrificaba y quemaba incienso en los lugares altos. El edificó la puerta superior de la casa del Señor.

36 N ow the rest of the acts of Jotham and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos de Jotam y todo lo que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

37 I n those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin, the king of Syria and Pekah, the son of Remaliah.

En aquellos días el Señor comenzó a enviar a Rezín, rey de Aram, y a Peka, hijo de Remalías, contra Judá.

38 A nd Jotham slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, his father; and Ahaz, his son, reigned in his stead.

Y durmió Jotam con sus padres, y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de su padre David; y su hijo Acaz reinó en su lugar.
