1 ¶ Now after the death of Moses, the slave of the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke unto Joshua, the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

Sucedió después de la muerte de Moisés, siervo del Señor, que el Señor habló a Josué, hijo de Nun, y ayudante de Moisés, diciendo:

2 M oses, my slave, is dead; now, therefore, arise, pass this Jordan, thou and all this people, unto the land which I give to the sons of Israel.

Mi siervo Moisés ha muerto; ahora pues, levántate, cruza este Jordán, tú y todo este pueblo, a la tierra que yo les doy a los hijos de Israel.

3 E very place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

Todo lugar que pise la planta de vuestro pie os he dado, tal como dije a Moisés.

4 F rom the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun shall be your borders.

Desde el desierto y este Líbano hasta el gran río, el río Eufrates, toda la tierra de los hititas hasta el mar Grande que está hacia la puesta del sol, será vuestro territorio.

5 N o one shall be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee; I will not fail thee nor forsake thee.

Nadie te podrá hacer frente en todos los días de tu vida. Así como estuve con Moisés, estaré contigo; no te dejaré ni te abandonaré.

6 B e strong and of a good courage; for thou shalt cause this people to inherit the land as an inheritance, which I swore unto their fathers to give them.

Sé fuerte y valiente, porque tú darás a este pueblo posesión de la tierra que juré a sus padres que les daría.

7 O nly be thou strong and very courageous that thou mayest keep and do according to all the law, which Moses my slave commanded thee; turn not from it to the right hand or to the left that thou may be prospered in all the things that thou doest.

Solamente sé fuerte y muy valiente; cuídate de cumplir toda la ley que Moisés mi siervo te mandó; no te desvíes de ella ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda, para que tengas éxito dondequiera que vayas.

8 T his book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night that thou may keep and do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way to prosper, and then thou shalt understand everything.

Este libro de la ley no se apartará de tu boca, sino que meditarás en él día y noche, para que cuides de hacer todo lo que en él está escrito; porque entonces harás prosperar tu camino y tendrás éxito.

9 S ee that I command thee to be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for I, the LORD thy God, am with thee wherever thou goest.

¿No te lo he ordenado yo? ¡Sé fuerte y valiente! No temas ni te acobardes, porque el Señor tu Dios estará contigo dondequiera que vayas. Preparativos para cruzar el Jordán

10 ¶ Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

Entonces Josué dio órdenes a los oficiales del pueblo, diciendo:

11 P ass through the camp and command the people, saying, Prepare food; for within three days ye shall pass this Jordan, to enter in to inherit the land, which the LORD your God gives you to inherit.

Pasad por medio del campamento y ordenad al pueblo, diciendo: “Preparad provisiones para vosotros, porque dentro de tres días cruzaréis el Jordán para entrar a poseer la tierra que el Señor vuestro Dios os da en posesión.”

12 A lso to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to half the tribe of Manasseh, Joshua spoke, saying,

Y a los rubenitas, a los gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés, Josué dijo:

13 R emember the word which Moses, the slave of the LORD, commanded you, saying, The LORD your God has given you rest and has given you this land.

Recordad la palabra que Moisés, siervo del Señor, os dio, diciendo: “El Señor vuestro Dios os da reposo y os dará esta tierra.”

14 Y our wives, your little ones, and your beasts shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan; but ye, all the mighty men of valour, shall pass before your brethren armed and help them

Vuestras mujeres, vuestros pequeños y vuestro ganado permanecerán en la tierra que Moisés os dio al otro lado del Jordán; pero vosotros, todos los valientes guerreros, pasaréis en orden de batalla delante de vuestros hermanos, y los ayudaréis,

15 u ntil the LORD has given your brethren rest, as he has given you and they also inherit the land which the LORD your God gives them; then ye shall return unto the land of your inheritance and inherit it, which Moses the LORD’s slave has given you on this side of the Jordan toward the sunrising.

hasta que el Señor dé reposo a vuestros hermanos como a vosotros, y ellos también posean la tierra que el Señor vuestro Dios les da. Entonces volveréis a vuestra tierra y poseeréis lo que Moisés, siervo del Señor, os dio al otro lado del Jordán hacia el oriente.

16 ¶ Then they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou hast commanded us we will do, and wherever thou dost send us, we will go.

Y ellos respondieron a Josué, diciendo: Haremos todo lo que nos has mandado, y adondequiera que nos envíes, iremos.

17 A ccording as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee; only let the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

Como obedecimos en todo a Moisés, así te obedeceremos a ti, con tal que el Señor tu Dios esté contigo como estuvo con Moisés.

18 W hoever rebels against thy commandment and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou doest command him, let him die; only be strong and of a good courage.

Cualquiera que se rebele contra tu mandato y no obedezca tus palabras en todo lo que le mandes, se le dará muerte; solamente sé fuerte y valiente.
