1 ¶ Now after the death of Moses, the slave of the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke unto Joshua, the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

După moartea lui Moise, robul Domnului, Domnul a zis lui Iosua, fiul lui Nun, slujitorul lui Moise:

2 M oses, my slave, is dead; now, therefore, arise, pass this Jordan, thou and all this people, unto the land which I give to the sons of Israel.

Robul Meu Moise a murit: acum, scoală-te, treci Iordanul acesta, tu şi tot poporul acesta, şi intraţi în ţara pe care o dau copiilor lui Israel.

3 E very place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

Orice loc pe care -l va călca talpa piciorului vostru, vi -l dau, cum am spus lui Moise.

4 F rom the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun shall be your borders.

Ţinutul vostru se va întinde dela pustie şi Liban pînă la rîul cel mare, rîul Eufrat, toată ţara Hetiţilor, şi pînă la marea cea mare, spre apusul soarelui.

5 N o one shall be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee; I will not fail thee nor forsake thee.

Nimeni nu va putea să stea împotriva ta, cît vei trăi. Eu voi fi cu tine, cum am fost cu Moise; nu te voi lăsa, nici nu te voi părăsi.

6 B e strong and of a good courage; for thou shalt cause this people to inherit the land as an inheritance, which I swore unto their fathers to give them.

Întăreşte-te şi îmbărbătează-te, căci tu vei da în stăpînire poporului acestuia ţara pe care am jurat părinţilor lor că le -o voi da.

7 O nly be thou strong and very courageous that thou mayest keep and do according to all the law, which Moses my slave commanded thee; turn not from it to the right hand or to the left that thou may be prospered in all the things that thou doest.

Întăreşte-te numai, şi îmbărbătează-te, lucrînd cu credincioşie după toată legea pe care ţi -a dat -o robul Meu Moise; nu te abate dela ea nici la dreapta nici la stînga, ca să isbuteşti în tot ce vei face.

8 T his book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night that thou may keep and do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way to prosper, and then thou shalt understand everything.

Cartea aceasta a legii să nu se depărteze de gura ta; cugetă asupra ei zi şi noapte, căutînd să faci tot ce este scris în ea; căci atunci vei izbîndi în toate lucrările tale, şi atunci vei lucra cu înţelepciune.

9 S ee that I command thee to be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for I, the LORD thy God, am with thee wherever thou goest.

Nu ţi-am dat Eu oare porunca aceasta:,Întăreşte-te şi îmbărbătează-te? Nu te înspăimînta şi nu te îngrozi, căci Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, este cu tine în tot ce vei face.``

10 ¶ Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

Iosua a dat căpeteniilor oştirii poporului următoarea poruncă:

11 P ass through the camp and command the people, saying, Prepare food; for within three days ye shall pass this Jordan, to enter in to inherit the land, which the LORD your God gives you to inherit.

Treceţi prin tabără, şi iată ce să porunciţi poporului:, Pregătiţi-vă merinde, căci peste trei zile veţi trece Iordanul acesta ca să mergeţi să cuceriţi ţara, pe care v'o dă în stăpînire Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru.``

12 A lso to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to half the tribe of Manasseh, Joshua spoke, saying,

Iosua a zis Rubeniţilor, Gadiţilor şi jumătăţii din seminţia lui Manase:

13 R emember the word which Moses, the slave of the LORD, commanded you, saying, The LORD your God has given you rest and has given you this land.

Aduceţi-vă aminte ce v'a poruncit Moise, robul Domnului, cînd a zis:, Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, v'a dat odihnă, şi v'a dat ţara aceasta.

14 Y our wives, your little ones, and your beasts shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan; but ye, all the mighty men of valour, shall pass before your brethren armed and help them

Nevestele voastre, pruncii voştri şi vitele voastre să rămînă în ţara pe care v'a dat -o Moise dincoace de Iordan; dar voi toţi bărbaţii voinici, să treceţi înarmaţi înaintea fraţilor voştri, şi să -i ajutaţi,

15 u ntil the LORD has given your brethren rest, as he has given you and they also inherit the land which the LORD your God gives them; then ye shall return unto the land of your inheritance and inherit it, which Moses the LORD’s slave has given you on this side of the Jordan toward the sunrising.

pînă ce Domnul va da odihnă fraţilor voştri ca şi vouă, şi pînă ce vor fi şi ei în stăpînirea ţării pe care le -o dă Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru. Apoi să vă întoarceţi să stăpîniţi ţara care este moşia voastră, şi pe care v'a dat -o Moise, robul Domnului, dincoace de Iordan, spre răsăritul soarelui.``

16 ¶ Then they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou hast commanded us we will do, and wherever thou dost send us, we will go.

Ei au răspuns lui Iosua, şi au zis:,, Vom face tot ce ne-ai poruncit, şi ne vom duce ori unde ne vei trimete.

17 A ccording as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee; only let the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

Te vom asculta în totul, cum am ascultat pe Moise. Numai Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, să fie cu tine, cum a fost cu Moise!

18 W hoever rebels against thy commandment and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou doest command him, let him die; only be strong and of a good courage.

Orice om care se va răzvrăti împotriva poruncii tale, şi care nu va asculta de tot ce -i vei porunci, să fie pedepsit cu moartea! Întăreşte-te numai, şi îmbărbătează-te!``
