1 ¶ Brethren, certainly the desire of my heart and my prayer to God regarding Israel, is for saving health.

Fraţilor, dorinţa inimii mele şi rugăciunea mea către Dumnezeu pentru Israeliţi, este să fie mîntuiţi.

2 F or I give testimony that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

Le mărturisesc că ei au rîvnă pentru Dumnezeu, dar fără pricepere:

3 F or they, being ignorant of God’s righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

pentrucă, întrucît n-au cunoscut neprihănirea, pe care o dă Dumnezeu, au căutat să-şi pună înainte o neprihănire a lor înşişi, şi nu s'au supus astfel neprihănirii, pe care o dă Dumnezeu.

4 F or Christ is the end of the law, to give righteousness to every one that believes.

Căci Hristos este sfîrşitul Legii, pentruca oricine crede în El, să poată căpăta neprihănirea.

5 F or Moses describes the righteousness which is by the law, That the man who does those things shall live by them.

În adevăr, Moise scrie că omul care împlineşte neprihănirea, pe care o dă Legea, va trăi prin ea.

6 B ut thus saith the righteousness which is by faith, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven (that is, to bring the Christ down from above)?

Pe cînd iată cum vorbeşte neprihănirea, pe care o dă credinţa:,, Să nu zici în inima ta:, Cine se va sui în cer?` (Să pogoare adică pe Hristos din cer).

7 O r, Who shall descend into the deep (that is, to bring up the Christ again from the dead)?

Sau:, Cine se va pogorî în Adînc?` (Să scoale adică pe Hristos din morţi).

8 B ut what does it say? The word is near thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach,

Ce zice ea deci?, Cuvîntul este aproape de tine: în gura ta şi în inima ta.` Şi cuvîntul acesta este cuvîntul credinţei, pe care -l propovăduim noi.

9 t hat if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Dacă mărturiseşti deci cu gura ta pe Isus ca Domn, şi dacă crezi în inima ta că Dumnezeu L -a înviat din morţi, vei fi mîntuit.

10 F or with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto saving health.

Căci prin credinţa din inimă se capătă neprihănirea, şi prin mărturisirea cu gura se ajunge la mîntuire,

11 F or the scripture says, Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.

după cum zice Scriptura:, Oricine crede în el, nu va fi dat de ruşine.`

12 ¶ For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

În adevăr, nu este nici o deosebire între Iudeu şi Grec; căci toţi au acelaş Domn, care este bogat în îndurare pentru toţi cei ce -L cheamă.

13 F or whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Fiindcă, oricine va chema Numele Domnului, va fi mîntuit.`

14 H ow then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Dar cum vor chema pe Acela în care n'au crezut? Şi cum vor crede în Acela, despre care n'au auzit? Şi cum vor auzi despre El fără propovăduitor?

15 A nd how shall they preach if they have not been sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those that announce the gospel of peace, of those that announce the gospel of that which is good!

Şi cum vor propovădui, dacă nu sînt trimeşi? După cum este scris:, Cît de frumoase sînt picioarele celor ce vestesc pacea, ale celor ce vestesc Evanghelia!`

16 B ut not everyone hearkens unto the gospel. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our report?

Dar nu toţi au ascultat de Evanghelie. Căci Isaia zice:, Doamne, cine a crezut propovăduirea noastră?`

17 S o then faith comes by hearing, and the ear to hear by the word of God.

Astfel, credinţa vine în urma auzirii; iar auzirea vine prin Cuvîntul lui Hristos.

18 B ut I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their fame went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

Dar eu întreb:, N'au auzit ei?` Ba da; căci, glasul lor a răsunat prin tot pămîntul, şi cuvintele lor au ajuns pînă la marginile lumii.`

19 B ut I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses says, I will provoke you unto jealousy with people that are not mine, and with ignorant people I will provoke you to anger.

Dar întreb iarăş:, N'a ştiut Israel lucrul acesta?` Ba da; căci Moise, cel dintîi, zice:, Vă voi întărîta la pizmă prin ceeace nu este neam, vă voi aţîţa mînia printr-un neam fără pricepere.`

20 B ut Isaiah is very bold and says, I was found by those that did not seek me; I manifested myself unto those that did not ask after me.

Şi Isaia merge cu îndrăzneala pînă acolo că zice:, Am fost găsit de ceice nu Mă căutau; M'am făcut cunoscut celor ce nu întrebau de Mine.`

21 A nd against Israel he says, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

Pe cînd, despre Israel zice:, Toată ziua Mi-am întins mînile spre un norod răzvrătit şi împotrivitor la vorbă.`
