1 ¶ Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.

(O rugăciune a unui nenorocit, cînd este doborît de întristare şi îşi varsă plîngerea înaintea Domnului.) Doamne, ascultă-mi rugăciunea, şi s'ajungă strigătul meu pînă la Tine!

2 H ide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me; in the day when I call, answer me speedily.

Nu-mi ascunde Faţa Ta în ziua necazului meu! Pleacă-Ţi urechea spre mine, cînd strig! Ascultă-mă degrab!

3 F or my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as in a hearth.

Căci zilele mele pier ca fumul, şi oasele îmi ard ca un tăciune.

4 M y heart is smitten and withered like grass so that I forget to eat my bread.

Inima îmi este lovită, şi mi se usucă întocmai ca iarba; pînă şi pînea uit să mi -o mănînc.

5 B y reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones cleave to my skin.

Aşa de mari îmi sînt gemetele, că mi se lipesc oasele de carne.

6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am like an owl of the desert.

Seamăn cu pelicanul din pustie, sînt ca o cucuvaie din dărîmături;

7 I watch and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.

nu mai pot dormi, şi sînt ca pasărea singuratică pe un acoperiş.

8 M y enemies reproach me all the day, and those that are mad against me are sworn against me.

În fiecare zi mă bătjocoresc vrăjmaşii mei, şi protivnicii mei jură pe mine în mînia lor.

9 F or I have eaten ashes like bread and mingled my drink with weeping,

Mănînc ţărînă în loc de pîne, şi îmi amestec lacrămile cu băutura,

10 b ecause of thine indignation and thy wrath; for thou hast lifted me up and cast me down.

din pricina mîniei şi urgiei Tale; căci Tu m'ai ridicat, şi m'ai aruncat departe.

11 M y days are like a shadow that declines, and I am withered like grass.

Zilele mele sînt ca o umbră gata să treacă, şi mă usuc ca iarba.

12 ¶ But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever and thy remembrance unto all generations.

Dar Tu, Doamne, Tu împărăţeşti pe vecie, şi pomenirea Ta ţine din neam în neam.

13 T hou shalt arise and have mercy upon Zion; for the time to favour her, the set time, is come.

Tu Te vei scula, şi vei avea milă de Sion; căci este vremea să te înduri de el, a venit vremea hotărîtă pentru el.

14 F or thy slaves love her stones and have compassion on the dust thereof.

Căci robii Tăi iubesc pietrele Sionului, şi le e milă de ţărîna lui.

15 S o the Gentiles shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory

Atunci se vor teme neamurile de Numele Domnului, şi toţi împăraţii pămîntului de slava Ta.

16 b ecause the LORD shall have built up Zion, and he shall be seen in his glory.

Da, Domnul va zidi iarăş Sionul, şi Se va arăta în slava Sa.

17 H e shall have regarded the prayer of those who are alone and destitute and not despised their prayer.

El ia aminte la rugăciunea nevoiaşului, şi nu -i nesocoteşte rugăciunea.

18 T his shall be written for the generation to come, and the people who shall be created shall praise JAH.

Să se scrie lucrul acesta pentru neamul de oameni care va veni, şi poporul, care se va naşte, să laude pe Domnul!

19 F or he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from the heavens the LORD beheld the earth

Căci El priveşte din înălţimea sfinţeniei Lui; Domnul priveşte din ceruri pe pămînt,

20 t o hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death,

ca să audă gemetele prinşilor de război, si să izbăvească pe cei ce sînt pe moarte;

21 t hat they might declare the name of the LORD in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem,

pentru ca ei să vestească în Sion Numele Domnului, şi laudele lui în Ierusalim,

22 w hen the people are gathered together as one and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

cînd se vor strînge toate popoarele, şi toate împărăţiile, ca să slujească Domnului.

23 ¶ He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.

El mi -a frînt puterea în drum, şi mi -a scurtat zilele,

24 I said, O my God, do not cut me off in the midst of my days; thy years are from generation to generation.

Eu zic:,, Dumnezeule, nu mă lua la jumătatea zilelor mele, Tu, ai cărui ani ţin vecinic!``

25 O f old thou hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

Tu ai întemeiat în vechime pămîntul, şi cerurile sînt lucrarea mînilor Tale.

26 T hey shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture thou shalt change them, and they shall be changed:

Ele vor pieri, dar Tu vei rămînea; toate se vor învechi ca o haină; le vei schimba ca pe un veşmînt, şi se vor schimba.

27 B ut thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

Dar Tu rămîi Acelaş, şi anii Tăi nu se vor sfîrşi.

28 T he sons of thy slaves shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.

Fiii robilor Tăi îşi vor locui ţara, şi sămînţa lor va rămînea înaintea Ta.
