1 ¶ Therefore, thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest; for in that which thou dost judge another, thou dost condemn thyself; for thou that judgest others doest the same things.

Aşa dar, omule, oricine ai fi tu, care, judeci pe altul, nu te poţi desvinovăţi; căci prin faptul că judeci pe altul, te osîndeşti singur; fiindcă tu, care judeci pe altul, faci aceleaşi lucruri.

2 F or we are sure that the judgment of God is according to the truth against those who do such things.

Ştim, în adevăr, că judecata lui Dumnezeu împotriva celor ce săvîrşesc astfel de lucruri, este potrivită cu adevărul.

3 A nd dost thou think this, O man, that judgest those who do such things and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

Şi crezi tu, omule, care judeci pe cei ce săvîrşesc astfel de lucruri, şi pe cari le faci şi tu, că vei scăpa de judecata lui Dumnezeu?

4 O r dost thou despise the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, ignoring that the goodness of God leads thee to repentance?

Sau dispreţuieşti tu bogăţiile bunătăţii, îngăduinţei şi îndelungei Lui răbdări? Nu vezi tu că bunătatea lui Dumnezeu te îndeamnă la pocăinţă?

5 B ut after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasures up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

Dar, cu împietrirea inimii tale, care nu vrea să se pocăiască, îţi aduni o comoară de mînie pentru ziua mîniei şi a arătării dreptei judecăţi a lui Dumnezeu,

6 w ho will render to everyone according to his deeds:

care va răsplăti fiecăruia după faptele lui.

7 t o those who persevered in well doing, glory and honour and incorruption, to those who seek eternal life;

Şi anume, va da viaţa vecinică celor ce, prin stăruinţa în bine, caută slava, cinstea şi nemurirea;

8 b ut unto those that are contentious and do not obey the truth, but are persuaded by unrighteousness, indignation and wrath.

şi va da mînie şi urgie celor ce, din duh de gîlceavă, se împotrivesc adevărului şi ascultă de nelegiuire.

9 T ribulation and anguish shall be upon every human soul that does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek;

Necaz şi strîmtorare va veni peste orice suflet omenesc care face răul: întîi peste Iudeu, apoi peste Grec.

10 b ut glory, honour, and peace to everyone that works good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Slavă, cinste şi pace va veni însă peste oricine face binele: întîi peste Iudeu, apoi peste Grec.

11 F or there is no respect of persons with God.

Căci înaintea lui Dumnezeu nu se are în vedere faţa omului.

12 F or as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law

Toţi ceice au păcătuit fără lege, vor pieri fără lege; şi toţi ceice au păcătuit avînd lege, vor fi judecaţi după lege.

13 ( for not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified;

Pentrucă nu cei ce aud Legea, sînt neprihăniţi înaintea lui Dumnezeu, ci cei ce împlinesc legea aceasta, vor fi socotiţi neprihăniţi.

14 f or when the Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature that which is of the law, these, not having the law, are a law unto themselves;

Cînd Neamurile, măcar că n'au lege, fac din fire lucrurile Legii, prin aceasta ei, cari n'au o lege, îşi sînt singuri lege;

15 w hich show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, accusing and also excusing their reasonings one with another)

şi ei dovedesc că lucrarea Legii este scrisă în inimile lor; fiindcă despre lucrarea aceasta mărturiseşte cugetul lor şi gîndurile lor, cari sau se învinovăţesc sau se desvinovăţesc între ele.

16 i n the day when God shall judge that which men have covered up, according to my gospel by Jesus, the Christ.

Şi faptul acesta se va vedea în ziua cînd, după Evanghelia mea, Dumnezeu va judeca, prin Isus Hristos, lucrurile ascunse ale oamenilor.

17 ¶ Behold, thou doth call thyself a Jew and art supported by the law and doth glory in God

Tu, care te numeşti Iudeu, care te reazimi pe o Lege, care te lauzi cu Dumnezeul tău,

18 a nd dost know his will and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law,

care cunoşti voia Lui, care ştii să faci deosebire între lucruri, pentrucă eşti învăţat de Lege;

19 a nd art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of those who are in darkness,

tu, care te măguleşti că eşti călăuza orbilor, lumina celor ce sînt în întunerec,

20 a n instructor of the ignorant, a teacher of children, who hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.

povăţuitorul celor fără minte, învăţătorul celor neştiutori, pentrucă în Lege ai dreptarul cunoştinţei depline şi al adevărului; -

21 T hou, therefore, who teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? Thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

tu deci, care înveţi pe alţii, pe tine însuţi nu te înveţi? Tu, care propovăduieşti:,, Să nu furi,`` furi?

22 T hou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? Thou that dost abhor idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

Tu care zici:,, Să nu preacurveşti,`` preacurveşti? Tu, căruia ţi -e scîrbă de idoli, le jăfuieşti templele?

23 T hou that makest thy boast of the law, with rebellion to the law doth thou dishonour God?

Tu, care te făleşti cu Legea, necinsteşti pe Dumnezeu prin călcarea acestei Legi?

24 F or the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

Căci,, din pricina voastră este hulit Numele lui Dumnezeu între Neamuri``, după cum este scris.

25 F or circumcision verily profits if thou keep the law, but if thou art a rebel to the law, thy circumcision is made into a foreskin.

Tăierea împrejur, negreşit, este de folos, dacă împlineşti Legea; dar dacă tu calci Legea, tăierea ta împrejur ajunge netăiere împrejur.

26 T herefore if the uncircumcised keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his foreskin be counted for circumcision?

Dacă deci, cel netăiat împrejur păzeşte poruncile Legii, netăierea lui împrejur nu i se va socoti ea ca o tăiere împrejur?

27 A nd that which is by nature foreskin, but keeps the law perfectly, shall judge thee who with the letter and with the circumcision art rebellious to the law.

Cel netăiat împrejur din naştere, care împlineşte Legea, nu te va osîndi el pe tine, care o calci, măcar că ai slova Legii şi tăierea împrejur?

28 F or he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is circumcision that which is done outwardly in the flesh;

Iudeu nu este acela care se arată pe dinafară că este Iudeu; şi tăiere împrejur nu este aceea care este pe dinafară, în carne.

29 b ut he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit and not in the letter, whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Ci Iudeu este acela care este Iudeu înlăuntru; şi tăiere împrejur este aceea a inimii, în duh, nu în slovă; un astfel de Iudeu îşi scoate lauda nu dela oameni, ci dela Dumnezeu.
