1 ¶ Now the Philistines gathered together all their camps to Aphek, and the Israelites pitched camp by a fountain which is in Jezreel.

Filistenii îşi strînseseră toate oştile la Afec, şi Israel tăbărîse la fîntîna lui Izreel.

2 A nd as the cardinals of the Philistines reviewed their companies of hundreds and of thousands, David and his men were in the rear with Achish.

Domnii Filistenilor au înaintat cu sutele şi miile lor; şi David şi oamenii lui mergeau mai la coadă cu Achiş.

3 T hen the princes of the Philistines said, What are these Hebrews doing here? And Achish replied unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the slave of Saul, the king of Israel, who has been with me these days or these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell unto me unto this day?

Domnii Filistenilor au zis:,, Ce caută Evreii aceştia aici?`` Şi Achiş a răspuns domnitorilor Filistenilor:,, Acesta este David, slujitorul lui Saul, împăratul lui Israel. De mult este cu mine, şi n'am găsit nici cel mai mic lucru de care să -l învinuiesc, dela venirea lui şi pînă în ziua de azi.``

4 T hen the princes of the Philistines were angry with him, and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make this fellow return that he may go again to his place which thou hast appointed him and not come with us to the battle lest in the battle he be an adversary to us, for with what should he return to the good graces of his master than with the heads of these men?

Dar domnitorii Filistenilor s'au mîniat pe Achiş, şi i-au zis:,, Trimete înapoi pe omul acesta, ca să se întoarcă în locul unde l-ai aşezat; să nu se pogoare cu noi pe cîmpul de bătaie, ca să nu ne fie vrăjmaş în timpul luptei. Şi cum ar putea să se facă omul acesta plăcut stăpînului său, decît cu capetele oamenilor noştri?

5 I s not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, Saul slew his thousands and David his ten thousands?

Nu este acesta David pentru care cîntau jucînd:, Saul şi -a bătut miile lui, Iar David zecile lui de mii?``

6 ¶ Then Achish called David and said unto him, Surely, as the LORD lives, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the camp is good in my sight; for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day; nevertheless, thou art not good in the eyes of the cardinals.

Achiş a chemat pe David, şi i -a zis:,, Viu este Domnul că eşti un om curat la suflet, şi-mi place să te văd mergînd şi venind cu mine în tabără, căci n'am găsit nimic rău în tine, dela venirea ta la mine pînă în ziua de azi; dar nu eşti pe placul domnitorilor.

7 T herefore, now return and go in peace that thou not do evil in the eyes of the cardinals of the Philistines.

Întoarce-te dar şi mergi în pace, ca să nu faci nimic neplăcut înaintea domnitorilor Filistenilor.``

8 A nd David replied unto Achish, But what have I done? And what hast thou found in thy slave so long as I have been with thee unto this day that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord the king?

David a zis lui Achiş:,, Dar ce am făcut, şi cei ai găsit în robul tău, de cînd sînt la tine pînă în ziua de azi, ca să nu merg să lupt împotriva vrăjmaşilor domnului meu, împăratul?``

9 A nd Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight as an angel of God; notwithstanding, the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.

Achiş a răspuns lui David:,,Ştiu că eşti plăcut înaintea mea ca un înger al lui Dumnezeu; dar domnitorii Filistenilor au zis:,, Să nu se suie cu noi la luptă.``

10 T herefore, now rise up early in the morning with thy master’s slaves that are come with thee, and as soon as ye are up early in the morning and it is light, depart.

Astfel, scoală-te dis de dimineaţă, tu şi slujitorii stăpînului tău, cari au venit cu tine; sculaţi-vă dis de dimineaţă, şi plecaţi de îndată ce se va lumina.``

11 S o David and his men rose up early to depart in the morning to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

David şi oamenii lui s'au sculat de noapte de tot, ca să plece dimineaţa, şi să se întoarcă în ţara Filistenilor. Şi Filistenii s'au suit la Izreel.
