1 ¶ And it shall come to pass if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God to keep and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all the Gentiles of the earth;

Dacă vei asculta de glasul Domnului, Dumnezeului tău, păzind şi împlinind toate poruncile Lui pe cari ţi le dau astăzi, Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, îţi va da întîietate asupra tuturor neamurilor de pe pămînt.

2 a nd all these blessings shall come upon thee and overtake thee when thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

Iată toate binecuvîntările cari vor veni peste tine şi de cari vei avea parte, dacă vei asculta de glasul Domnului, Dumnezeului tău:

3 B lessed shalt thou be in the city and blessed shalt thou be in the field.

Vei fi binecuvîntat în cetate, şi vei fi binecuvîntat la cîmp.

4 B lessed shall be the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy ground and the fruit of thy beasts, the increase of thy cows, and the flocks of thy sheep.

Rodul pîntecelui tău, rodul pămîntului tău, rodul turmelor tale, fătul vacilor şi oilor tale, toate acestea vor fi binecuvîntate.

5 B lessed shall be thy basket and thy store.

Coşniţa şi postava ta vor fi binecuvîntate.

6 B lessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

Vei fi binecuvîntat la venirea ta, şi vei fi binecuvîntat la plecarea ta.

7 T he LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face; they shall come out against thee one way and flee before thee seven ways.

Domnul îţi va da biruinţă asupra vrăjmaşilor tăi cari se vor ridica împotriva ta; pe un drum vor ieşi împotriva ta, dar pe şapte drumuri vor fugi dinaintea ta.

8 T he LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God gives thee.

Domnul va face ca binecuvîntarea să fie cu tine în grînarele tale şi în toate lucrurile pe cari vei pune mîna. Te va binecuvînta în ţara pe care ţi -o dă Domnul, Dumnezeul tău.

9 T he LORD shall confirm thee as his holy people, as he has sworn unto thee, when thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God and walk in his ways.

Vei fi pentru Domnul un popor sfînt, cum ţi -a jurat El, dacă vei păzi poruncile Domnului, Dumnezeului tău, şi vei umbla pe căile Lui.

10 A nd all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of thee.

Toate popoarele vor vedea că tu porţi Numele Domnului, şi se vor teme de tine.

11 A nd the LORD shall cause thee to have good in abundance in the fruit of thy body and in the fruit of thy beasts and in the fruit of thy ground, upon the land which the LORD swore unto thy fathers to give thee.

Domnul te va copleşi cu bunătăţi, înmulţind rodul trupului tău, rodul turmelor tale şi rodul pămîntului tău, în ţara pe care Domnul a jurat părinţilor tăi că ţi -o va da.

12 T he LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven, to give the rain unto thy land in its season and to bless all the work of thine hand. And thou shalt lend unto many Gentiles, and thou shalt not borrow.

Domnul îţi va deschide comoara Lui cea bună, cerul, ca să trimeată ţării tale ploaie la vreme şi ca să binecuvinteze tot lucrul mînilor tale: vei da cu împrumut multor neamuri, dar tu nu vei lua cu împrumut.

13 A nd the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail, and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath, when thou shalt hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to keep them and to fulfill them.

Domnul te va face să fii cap, nu coadă; totdeauna vei fi sus, şi niciodată nu vei fi jos, dacă vei asculta de poruncile Domnului, Dumnezeului tău, pe cari ţi le dau astăzi, dacă le vei păzi şi le vei împlini,

14 A nd thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

şi nu te vei abate nici la dreapta nici la stînga dela toate poruncile pe cari vi le dau astăzi, ca să vă duceţi după alţi dumnezei şi să le slujiţi.

15 ¶ And it shall come to pass if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep, to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee today, that all these curses shall come upon thee and overtake thee.

Dar dacă nu vei asculta de glasul Domnului, Dumnezeului tău, dacă nu vei păzi şi nu vei împlini toate poruncile Lui şi toate legile Lui, pe cari ţi le dau astăzi, iată toate blestemurile cari vor veni peste tine şi de cari vei avea parte.

16 C ursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.

Vei fi blestemat în cetate, şi vei fi blestemat pe cîmp.

17 C ursed shall be thy basket and thy store.

Coşniţa şi postava ta vor fi blestemate.

18 C ursed shall be the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy cows and the flocks of thy sheep.

Rodul trupului tău, rodul pămîntului tău, fătul vacilor tale şi fătul oilor tale, toate vor fi blestemate.

19 C ursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

Vei fi blestemat la venirea ta, şi vei fi blestemat la plecarea ta.

20 T he LORD shall send upon thee cursing, destruction and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand to do, until thou art destroyed and perish quickly because of the wickedness of thy doings, by which thou hast forsaken me.

Domnul va trimete împotriva ta blestemul, turburarea şi ameninţarea, în mijlocul tuturor lucrurilor de cari te vei apuca, pînă vei fi nimicit, pînă vei pieri curînd, din pricina răutăţii faptelor tale, care te -a făcut să Mă părăseşti.

21 T he LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee until he has consumed thee from off the land into which thou dost enter to inherit it.

Domnul va trimete peste tine ciuma, pînă te va nimici în ţara pe care o vei lua în stăpînire.

22 T he LORD shall smite thee with a consumption and with a fever and with an inflammation and with an extreme burning and with the sword and with blight and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.

Domnul te va lovi cu lingoare, cu friguri, cu obrinteală, cu căldură arzătoare, cu secetă, cu rugină în grîu şi cu tăciune, cari te vor urmări pînă vei pieri.

23 A nd thy heavens which are over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.

Cerul deasupra capului tău va fi de aramă, şi pămîntul subt tine va fi de fer.

24 T he LORD shall make the rain of thy land dust and ashes; from the heavens it shall come down upon thee, until thou art destroyed.

Domnul va trimete ţării tale în loc de ploaie praf şi pulbere, care va cădea din cer peste tine pînă vei fi nimicit.

25 T he LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them and shalt be an object of trembling unto all the kingdoms of the earth.

Domnul te va face să fii bătut de vrăjmaşii tăi; pe un drum vei ieşi împotriva lor, dar pe şapte drumuri vei fugi dinaintea lor; şi vei fi o groază pentru toate împărăţiile pămîntului.

26 A nd thy carcase shall be food unto all fowls of the air and unto the beasts of the earth, and there shall be no one to frighten them away.

Trupul tău mort va fi hrana tuturor păsărilor cerului şi fiarelor pămîntului; şi nu va fi nimeni care să le sperie.

27 T he LORD will smite thee with the boil of Egypt and with the hemorrhoids and with the scab and with the itch, of which thou canst not be healed.

Domnul te va bate cu buba rea a Egiptului, cu bube rele la şezut, cu rîie şi cu pecingine, de cari nu vei putea să te vindeci.

28 T he LORD shall smite thee with madness and blindness and astonishment of heart.

Domnul te va lovi cu nebunie, cu orbire, cu rătăcire a minţii,

29 A nd thou shalt grope at noonday as the blind grope in the darkness, and thou shalt not be prospered in thy ways; and thou shalt only be oppressed and spoiled all the days, and there shall be no one to save thee.

şi vei bîjbăi pe întunerec ziua nameaza mare, ca orbul pe întunerec; nu vei avea noroc în treburile tale, şi în toate zilele vei fi apăsat, prădat, şi nu va fi nimeni care să-ţi vină în ajutor.

30 T hou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her; thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein; thou shalt plant a vineyard and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.

Vei avea logodnică, şi altul se va culca cu ea; vei zidi casă, şi n'o vei locui; vei sădi vie, şi nu vei mînca din ea.

31 T hine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof; thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face and shall not be restored to thee; thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have no one to rescue them.

Boul tău va fi junghiat subt ochii tăi, şi nu vei mînca din el; ţi se va răpi măgarul dinaintea ta, şi nu ţi se va da înapoi; oile tale vor fi date vrăjmaşilor tăi, şi nu va fi nimeni care să-ţi vină în ajutor.

32 T hy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look and fail with longing for them all the day long; and there shall be no strength in thine hand.

Fiii tăi şi fiicele tale vor fi date ca roabe pe mîna altui popor; ţi se vor topi ochii de dor, uitîndu-te toată ziua după ei, şi mîna ta va fi fără putere.

33 T he fruit of thy land and all thy labours shall a people which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt only be oppressed and crushed all the days.

Un popor, pe care nu -l cunoşti, va mînca rodul pămîntului tău şi tot venitul lucrului tău, şi în toate zilele vei fi apăsat şi sdrobit.

34 S o that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.

Priveliştea pe care o vei avea subt ochi te va face să înebuneşti.

35 T he LORD shall smite thee in the knees and in the legs with an evil boil that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.

Domnul te va lovi cu o bubă rea la genunchi şi la coapse, şi nu te vei putea vindeca de ea, te va lovi dela talpa piciorului pînă în creştetul capului.

36 T he LORD shall bring thee and thy king which thou shalt set over thee unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, and there shalt thou serve other gods, even wood and stone.

Domnul te va duce, pe tine şi împăratul pe care -l vei pune peste tine, la un neam pe care nu l-ai cunoscut, nici tu, nici părinţii tăi. Şi acolo, vei sluji altor dumnezei, de lemn şi de piatră.

37 A nd thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations where the LORD shall carry thee away.

Şi vei fi de pomină, de batjocură şi de rîs, printre toate popoarele la cari te va duce Domnul.

38 T hou shalt carry much seed out into the field and shalt gather but little in, for the locust shall consume it.

Vei sămăna multă sămînţă pe cîmpul tău, şi vei strînge puţin; căci o vor mînca toate lăcustele.

39 T hou shalt plant vineyards and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine nor gather the grapes, for the worms shall eat them.

Vei sădi vii şi le vei lucra, dar vin nu vei bea, ba nici n'o vei culege, căci o vor mînca viermii.

40 T hou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy borders, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall fall.

Vei avea măslini, pe toată întinderea ţării tale: şi nu te vei unge cu untdelemn, căci măslinele vor cădea.

41 T hou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.

Vei naşte fii şi fiice; dar nu vor fi ai tăi, căci se vor duce în robie.

42 A ll thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.

Omizile îţi vor mînca toţi pomii şi rodul pămîntului.

43 T he stranger that is in the midst of thee shall get up above thee very high, and thou shalt come down very low.

Străinul care va fi în mijlocul tău se va ridica tot mai sus peste tine, iar tu te vei pogorî tot mai jos;

44 H e shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him; he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.

el îţi va da cu împrumut, şi tu nu -i vei da cu împrumut; el va fi fruntea şi tu vei fi coada.

45 ¶ Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee and shall pursue thee and overtake thee until thou art destroyed because thou shalt not have attended unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee;

Toate blestemurile acestea vor veni peste tine, te vor urmări şi te vor ajunge pînă vei fi nimicit, pentrucă n'ai ascultat de glasul Domnului, Dumnezeului tău, pentrucă n'ai păzit poruncile Lui şi legile Lui, pe cari ţi le -a dat.

46 a nd they shall be in thee for a sign and for a wonder, and in thy seed for ever.

Ele vor fi vecinic ca nişte semne şi minuni pentru tine şi sămînţa ta.

47 B ecause thou didst not serve the LORD thy God with joyfulness and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;

Pentrucă, în mijlocul belşugului tuturor lucrurilor, n'ai slujit Domnului, Dumnezeului tău, cu bucurie şi cu dragă inimă,

48 t herefore, thou shalt serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger and in thirst and in nakedness and in lack of all things; and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck until he has destroyed thee.

vei sluji în mijlocul foamei, setei, goliciunii şi lipsei de toate, vrăjmaşilor tăi, pe cari -i va trimete Domnul împotriva ta. El îţi va pune pe grumaz un jug de fer, pînă te va nimici.

49 T he LORD shall bring a nation against thee from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand,

Domnul va aduce de departe, dela marginile pămîntului, un neam care va cădea peste tine cu sbor de vultur, un neam a cărui limbă n'o vei înţelege,

50 a nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old nor show favour to the young;

un neam cu înfăţişarea sălbatică, şi care nu se va sfii de cel bătrîn, nici nu va avea milă de copii.

51 a nd he shall eat the fruit of thy beast and the fruit of thy land until thou art destroyed, which also shall not leave thee either grain, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy cows or flocks of thy sheep until he has destroyed thee.

El va mînca rodul turmelor tale şi rodul pămîntului tău, pînă vei fi nimicit; nu-ţi va lăsa nici grîu, nici must, nici untdelemn, nici viţeii dela vaci, nici mieii de la oi, pînă te va face să pieri.

52 A nd he shall besiege thee in all thy gates until thy high and fenced walls come down, in which thou dost trust, throughout all thy land; and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God has given thee.

Te va împresura în toate cetăţile tale, pînă îţi vor cădea zidurile, aceste ziduri înalte şi tari, în cari îţi pusesei încrederea pe toată întinderea ţării tale; te va împresura în toate cetăţile tale, în toată ţara pe care ţi -o dă Domnul, Dumnezeul tău.

53 A nd thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God has given thee, in the siege and in the straitness with which thine enemies shall distress thee.

În strîmtorarea şi necazul în care te va aduce vrăjmaşul tău, vei mînca rodul trupului tău, carnea fiilor şi fiicelor tale, pe care ţi -i va da Domnul, Dumnezeul tău.

54 T he man that is tender among you and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother and toward the wife of his bosom and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave,

Omul cel mai gingaş şi cel mai milos dintre voi se va uita rău la fratele său, la nevasta care se odihneşte pe sînul lui, la copiii pe cari i -a cruţat:

55 s o that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat, because he shall have nothing left him in the siege and in the straitness with which thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.

nu va da nici unuia din ei din carnea copiilor lui cu care se hrăneşte, fiindcă nu -i va mai rămînea nimic în mijlocul strîmtorării şi necazului în care te va aduce vrăjmaşul tău în toate cetăţile tale.

56 T he tender and delicate woman among you who would not venture to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom and toward her son and toward her daughter

Femeia cea mai gingaşă şi cea mai miloasă dintre voi, care, de gingaşă şi miloasă ce era, nu ştia să calce mai uşor cu piciorul pe pămînt, va privi fără milă pe bărbatul care se odihneşte la sînul ei, pe fiul şi pe fiica ei:

57 a nd toward her young one that comes out from between her feet and toward her children which she shall bear, for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness with which thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates,

nu le va da nimic din pieliţa noului născut, pieliţă ieşită dintre picioarele ei şi din copiii pe cari -i va naşte, căci, ducînd lipsă de toate, îi va mînca în ascuns, din pricina strîmtorării şi necazului în care te va aduce vrăjmaşul tău în cetăţile tale.

58 i f thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book that thou may fear this glorious and fearful name; I AM thy God.

Dacă nu vei păzi şi nu vei împlini toate cuvintele legii acesteia, scrise în cartea aceasta, dacă nu te vei teme de acest Nume slăvit şi înfricoşat, adică de Domnul, Dumnezeul tău,

59 T hen the LORD will augment thy plagues wonderfully, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues and of long continuance, and evil sicknesses and of long continuance.

Domnul te va lovi în chip minunat, pe tine şi sămînţa ta, cu răni mari şi îndelungate, cu boli grele şi necurmate.

60 M oreover, he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of, and they shall cleave unto thee.

Va aduce peste tine toate bolile Egiptului de cari tremurai, şi ele se vor lipi de tine.

61 A lso every sickness and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, the LORD will bring upon thee until thou art destroyed.

Ba încă, Domnul va aduce peste tine, pînă vei fi nimicit, toate felurile de boli şi de răni cari nu sînt pomenite în cartea legii acesteia.

62 A nd ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude, because thou would not hear the voice of the LORD thy God.

Dupăce aţi fost atît de mulţi ca stelele cerului, nu veţi mai rămînea decît un mic număr, pentrucă n'ai ascultat de glasul Domnului, Dumnezeului tău.

63 A nd it shall come to pass that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to cause you to perish and to destroy you; and ye shall be plucked from off the land into which thou dost enter in to inherit it.

După cum Domnul Se bucura să vă facă bine şi să vă înmulţească, tot aşa Domnul Se va bucura să vă piardă şi să vă nimicească; şi veţi fi smulşi din ţara pe care o vei lua în stăpînire.

64 A nd the LORD shall scatter thee among all the peoples from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.

Domnul te va împrăştia printre toate neamurile, dela o margine a pămîntului pînă la cealaltă: şi acolo, vei sluji altor dumnezei pe cari nu i-ai cunoscut nici tu, nici părinţii tăi, dumnezei de lemn şi de piatră.

65 N either shalt thou find rest among these Gentiles, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest; but there the LORD shall give thee a trembling heart and failing of eyes and sorrow of soul;

Între aceste neamuri, nu vei fi liniştit, şi nu vei avea un loc de odihnă pentru talpa picioarelor tale. Domnul îţi va face inima fricoasă, ochii lîncezi, şi sufletul îndurerat.

66 a nd thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night and shalt have no assurance of thy life.

Viaţa îţi va sta nehotărîtă înainte, vei tremura zi şi noapte, nu vei fi sigur de viaţa ta.

67 I n the morning thou shalt say, I wish it were evening, and in the evening thou shalt say, I wish it were morning! For the fear of thine heart with which thou shalt fear and for that which thine eyes shall see.

În groaza care-ţi va umplea inima şi în faţa lucrurilor pe care ţi le vor vedea ochii, dimineaţa vei zice:,, O, de ar veni seara!`` şi seara vei zice:,, O, de ar veni dimineaţa!``

68 A nd the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again in ships by the way of which I spoke unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again; and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for menslaves and womenslaves, and there shall be no one to buy you.

Şi Domnul te va întoarce pe corăbii în Egipt, şi vei face drumul acesta despre care-ţi spusesem:,, Să nu -l mai vezi!`` Acolo, vă veţi vinde vrăjmaşilor voştri, ca robi şi roabe: şi nu va fi nimeni să vă cumpere.``
