1 ¶ Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O sons of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

Ascultaţi cuvîntul acesta, pe care -l rosteşte Domnul împotriva voastră, copii ai lui Israel, împotriva întregei familii pe care am scos -o din ţara Egiptului!

2 Y ou only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore, I will visit all your iniquities against you.

Eu v'am ales numai pe voi dintre toate familiile pămîntului: de aceea vă voi şi pedepsi pentru toate nelegiuirile voastre.

3 C an two walk together except they be agreed?

Merg oare doi oameni împreună, fără să fie învoiţi?

4 W ill a lion roar in the forest when he has no prey? Will a young lion cry out of his den if he has taken nothing?

Răcneşte leul în pădure, dacă n'are pradă? Sbiară puiul de leu din fundul vizuinei lui, dacă n'a prins nimic?

5 C an a bird fall in a snare upon the earth without a fowler? Shall the snare rise up from the earth and have taken nothing at all?

Cade pasărea în laţul de pe pămînt, dacă nu i s'a întins o cursă? Se ridică laţul dela pămînt, fără să se fi prins ceva în el?

6 S hall the shofar be blown in the city and the people not be afraid? Shall there be any evil in the city which the LORD has not done?

Sau sună cineva cu trîmbiţa într'o cetate, fără să se spăimînte poporul? Sau se întîmplă o nenorocire într'o cetate, fără s'o fi făcut Domnul?

7 B ecause the Lord GOD will do nothing unless he reveals his secret to his slaves the prophets.

Nu, Domnul Dumnezeu nu face nimic fără să-Şi descopere taina Sa slujitorilor Săi prooroci.

8 T he lion has roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD has spoken, who can but prophesy?

Leul răcneşte: cine nu se va speria? Domnul Dumnezeu vorbeşte: cine nu va prooroci?``

9 ¶ Publish upon the palaces of Ashdod and upon the palaces of the land of Egypt and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria and behold the great oppression in the midst thereof and the great violence in the midst thereof.

Strigaţi de pe acoperişul palatelor Asdodului şi de pe palatele ţării Egiptului, şi spuneţi:,, Strîngeţi-vă pe munţii Samariei, şi vedeţi ce neorînduială mare este în mijlocul ei, ce asupriri sînt în ea!

10 F or they do not know to do right, said the LORD, storing up violence and robbery in their palaces.

Nu sînt în stare să lucreze cu neprihănire, zice Domnul, ci îşi grămădesc în palate comori cîştigate prin sîlnicie şi răpire.``

11 T herefore thus said the Lord GOD: An adversary there shall be even round about the land, and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Domnul Dumnezeu:,, Vrăjmaşul va împresura ţara, îţi va doborî tăria, şi palatele tale vor fi jăfuite!``

12 T hus hath the LORD said: As the pastor takes out of the mouth of the lion two legs or a piece of an ear, so shall the sons of Israel escape that dwell in Samaria in the corner of the bed and at the border of the couch.

Aşa vorbeşte Domnul:,, După cum păstorul scapă din gura leului numai două bucăţi de picioare sau un vîrf de ureche, aşa vor scăpa copiii lui Israel cari stau în Samaria în colţul unui pat şi pe covoare de Damasc!

13 H ear ye, and protest in the house of Jacob, said the Lord GOD, the God of the hosts,

Ascultaţi, şi spuneţi lucrul acesta casei lui Iacov, zice Domnul Dumnezeu, Dumnezeul oştirilor:

14 t hat in the day that I shall visit the rebellions of Israel upon him, I will also visit upon the altars of Bethel, and the horns of the altar shall be cut off and fall to the ground.

ziua cînd voi pedepsi pe Israel pentru fărădelegile lui, voi pedepsi şi altarele din Betel; coarnele altarului vor fi sfărîmate, şi vor cădea la pămînt.

15 A nd I will smite the winter house with the summer house, and the houses of ivory shall perish, and many houses shall be cut off, said the LORD.

Voi surpa casele de iarnă şi casele de vară; palatele de fildeş se vor duce, şi casele cele multe se vor nimici, zice Domnul.``
