1 ¶ But the sons of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD when Ehud was dead.

Copiii lui Israel iarăş au făcut ce nu place Domnului, după moartea lui Ehud.

2 A nd the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin, king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor, the captain of whose host was Sisera, and he dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.

Şi Domnul i -a vîndut în mînile lui Iabin, împăratul Canaanului, care domnea la Haţor. Căpetenia oştirii lui era Sisera, şi locuia la Haroşet-Goim.

3 A nd the sons of Israel cried unto the LORD, for he had nine hundred chariots of iron, and he had mightily oppressed the sons of Israel for twenty years.

Copiii lui Israel au strigat către Domnul, căci Iabin avea nouă sute de cară de fer, şi de douăzeci de ani apăsa cu putere pe copiii lui Israel.

4 ¶ And a woman judged Israel at that time, Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth.

Pe vremea aceea judecător în Israel era Debora, proorociţa, nevasta lui Lapidot.

5 T his Deborah dwelt under a palm tree between Ramah and Bethel in Mount Ephraim, and the sons of Israel came up to her for judgment.

Ea şedea subt finicul Deborei, între Rama şi Betel, în muntele lui Efraim; şi copiii lui Israel se suiau la ea ca să fie judecaţi.

6 A nd she sent and called Barak, the son of Abinoam, out of Kedesh of Naphtali and said unto him, Has not the LORD God of Israel commanded thee, saying, Go and draw toward Mount Tabor and take with thee ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and of the sons of Zebulun?

Ea a trimes să cheme pe Barac, fiul lui Abinoam, din Chedeş-Neftali, şi i -a zis:,, Iată porunca pe care a dat -o Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel:, Du-te, îndreaptă-te spre muntele Taborului, şi ia cu tine zece mii de oameni din copiii lui Neftali şi din copiii lui Zabulon;

7 A nd I will draw Sisera, the captain of Jabin’s army, unto thee to the river Kishon, with his chariots and his multitude, and I will deliver him into thy hands.

voi trage spre tine, la pîrîul Chison, pe Sisera, căpetenia oştirii lui Iabin, împreună cu carăle şi oştile lui, şi -l voi da în mînile tale``.

8 A nd Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go; but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.

Barac i -a zis:,, Dacă vii tu cu mine, mă voi duce; dar dacă nu vii cu mine, nu mă voi duce``.

9 A nd she said, I will surely go with thee, but thy honour shall not be in the way that thou goest; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh.

Ea a răspuns:,, Voi merge cu tine; dar nu vei avea slavă în calea pe care mergi, căci Domnul va da pe Sisera în mînile unei femei``. Şi Debora s'a sculat, şi s'a dus cu Barac la Chedeş.

10 ¶ And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh, and he went up with ten thousand men on foot, and Deborah went up with him.

Barac a chemat pe Zabulon şi Neftali la Chedeş; zece mii de oameni mergeau în urma lui, şi Debora a plecat cu el.

11 N ow Heber, the Kenite, of the sons of Hobab, the father-in-law of Moses, had severed himself from the Kenites and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.

Heber, Chenitul, se despărţise de Cheniţi, fiii lui Hobab, socrul lui Moise, şi îşi întinsese cortul pînă la stejarul Ţaanaim, lîngă Chedeş.

12 A nd the news came unto Sisera that Barak, the son of Abinoam, was gone up to Mount Tabor.

Au dat de ştire lui Sisera, că Barac, fiul lui Abinoam, s'a îndreptat spre muntele Taborului.

13 A nd Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon.

Şi, dela Haroşet-Goim, Sisera şi -a strîns spre pîrîul Chisonului toate carăle: nouă sute de cară de fer, şi tot poporul care era cu el.

14 T hen Deborah said unto Barak, Rise up, for this is the day in which the LORD has delivered Sisera into thy hands. Is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from Mount Tabor and ten thousand men after him.

Atunci Debora a zis lui Barac:,, Scoală-te, căci iată ziua cînd dă Domnul pe Sisera în mînile tale. Într'adevăr, Domnul, merge înaintea ta``. Şi Barac s'a repezit de pe muntele Taborului, cu zece mii de oameni după el.

15 A nd the LORD broke Sisera and all his chariots and all his host with the edge of the sword before Barak so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot and fled away on foot.

Domnul a pus pe fugă dinaintea lui Barac, prin ascuţişul săbiei, pe Sisera, toate carăle lui şi toată tabăra. Sisera s'a dat jos din carul lui, şi a fugit pe jos.

16 B ut Barak pursued after the chariots and after the host unto Harosheth of the Gentiles, and all the camp of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword, and there was not a man left.

Barac a urmărit carăle şi oştirea pînă la Haroşet-Goim; şi toată oştirea lui Sisera a căzut subt ascuţişul săbiei, fără să fi rămas un singur om.

17 ¶ And Sisera fled on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, for there was peace between Jabin, the king of Hazor, and the house of Heber the Kenite.

Sisera a fugit pe jos în cortul Iaelei, nevasta lui Heber, Chenitul; căci între Iabin, împăratul Haţorului, şi casa lui Heber, Chenitul, era pace.

18 A nd Jael went out to meet Sisera and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a thick coverlet.

Iael a eşit înaintea lui Sisera, şi i -a zis:,, Intră, domnul meu, intră la mine, şi nu te teme``. El a intrat la ea în cort, şi ea l -a ascuns subt o învelitoare.

19 A nd he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink, for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk and gave him to drink and covered him again.

El i -a zis:,, Dă-mi te rog, puţină apă să beau, căci mi -e sete``. Ea a deschis burduful cu lapte, i -a dat să bea, şi l -a acoperit.

20 A gain he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and if anyone should come and enquire of thee and say, Is there anyone here? Thou shalt say, No.

El i -a mai zis:,, Stai la uşa cortului, şi dacă vine cineva şi te întreabă:, Este cineva aici?` să răspunzi:, Nu``.

21 T hen Jael, Heber’s wife, took the tent stake, and putting a hammer in her hand, went softly unto him and smote the stake into his temples and fastened it into the ground, for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

Iael, nevasta lui Heber, a luat un ţăruş de al cortului, a pus mîna pe ciocan, s'a apropiat încet de el, şi i -a bătut ţăruşul în tîmplă, aşa că a răspuns adînc în pămînt. El adormise adînc şi era rupt de oboseală; şi a murit.

22 A nd as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him and said unto him, Come, and I will show thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he entered into where she was, behold, Sisera lay dead with the stake through his temples.

Pe cînd Barac urmărea pe Sisera, Iael i -a ieşit înainte şi i -a zis:,, Vino, şi-ţi voi arăta pe omul pe care -l cauţi``. El a intrat la ea, şi iată că Sisera stătea întins, mort, cu ţăruşul bătut în tîmplă.

23 S o God subjected on that day Jabin, the king of Canaan, before the sons of Israel.

În ziua aceea, Dumnezeu a smerit pe Iabin, împăratul Canaanului, înaintea copiilor lui Israel.

24 A nd the hand of the sons of Israel began to prosper and to prevail against Jabin, the king of Canaan until they had destroyed him.

Şi mîna copiilor lui Israel a apăsat greu asupra lui Iabin, împăratul Canaanului, pînă ce au nimicit pe Iabin, împăratul Canaanului.
