1 ¶ But the sons of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD when Ehud was dead.

После того как Ехуд умер, израильтяне снова стали творить зло в глазах Господа.

2 A nd the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin, king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor, the captain of whose host was Sisera, and he dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.

И Господь отдал их в руки Иавина, царя Ханаана, который правил в городе Хацоре. Начальником его войска был Сисара, который жил в Харошет-Гоиме.

3 A nd the sons of Israel cried unto the LORD, for he had nine hundred chariots of iron, and he had mightily oppressed the sons of Israel for twenty years.

У него было девятьсот железных колесниц, и он жестоко притеснял израильтян в течении двадцати лет. Поэтому они воззвали к Господу о помощи.

4 ¶ And a woman judged Israel at that time, Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth.

В то время судьей в Израиле была пророчица Девора, жена Лаппидота.

5 T his Deborah dwelt under a palm tree between Ramah and Bethel in Mount Ephraim, and the sons of Israel came up to her for judgment.

Она сидела под пальмой Деворы, между Рамой и Вефилем в нагорьях Ефрема, и израильтяне приходили к ней решать свои тяжбы.

6 A nd she sent and called Barak, the son of Abinoam, out of Kedesh of Naphtali and said unto him, Has not the LORD God of Israel commanded thee, saying, Go and draw toward Mount Tabor and take with thee ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and of the sons of Zebulun?

Она послала за Вараком, сыном Авиноама, из Кедеша, что в земле Неффалима, и сказала ему: – Господь, Бог Израиля, повелевает тебе: «Иди, возьми с собой десять тысяч человек из рода Неффалима и Завулона, и веди их на гору Фавор.

7 A nd I will draw Sisera, the captain of Jabin’s army, unto thee to the river Kishon, with his chariots and his multitude, and I will deliver him into thy hands.

Я приведу Сисару, начальника войска Иавина, с его колесницами и воинами к реке Кишону и отдам его в твои руки».

8 A nd Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go; but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.

Варак сказал ей: – Если ты пойдешь со мной, то пойду и я, а если ты со мной не пойдешь, то и я не пойду.

9 A nd she said, I will surely go with thee, but thy honour shall not be in the way that thou goest; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh.

– Хорошо, – сказала Девора, – я пойду с тобой. Но этот путь не приведет тебя к славе, потому что Господь отдаст Сисару в руки женщины. И Девора пошла с Вараком в Кедеш,

10 ¶ And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh, and he went up with ten thousand men on foot, and Deborah went up with him.

где он призвал Завулона и Неффалима. За ним последовало десять тысяч человек, и Девора также пошла с ним.

11 N ow Heber, the Kenite, of the sons of Hobab, the father-in-law of Moses, had severed himself from the Kenites and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.

Кеней Хевер отделился от остальных кенеев, потомков Ховава, шурина Моисея, и разбил свой шатер у великого дерева, что в Цаананниме, рядом с Кедешом.

12 A nd the news came unto Sisera that Barak, the son of Abinoam, was gone up to Mount Tabor.

Когда Сисаре донесли, что Варак, сын Авиноама, поднялся на гору Фавор,

13 A nd Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon.

Сисара собрал свои девятьсот железных колесниц и всех своих людей из Харошет-Гоима возле реки Кишона.

14 T hen Deborah said unto Barak, Rise up, for this is the day in which the LORD has delivered Sisera into thy hands. Is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from Mount Tabor and ten thousand men after him.

Тогда Девора сказала Вараку: – Иди! Это день, когда Господь отдал Сисару в твои руки. Разве Сам Господь не идет перед тобой? И Варак спустился с горы Фавор, а вслед за ним десять тысяч человек.

15 A nd the LORD broke Sisera and all his chariots and all his host with the edge of the sword before Barak so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot and fled away on foot.

Господь привел Сисару и все его колесницы и войско в замешательство перед мечом Варака, и Сисара, сойдя с колесницы, бежал пешим.

16 B ut Barak pursued after the chariots and after the host unto Harosheth of the Gentiles, and all the camp of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword, and there was not a man left.

Варак преследовал его колесницы и войско до самого Харошет-Гоима. Все воины Сисары пали от меча; в живых не осталось никого.

17 ¶ And Sisera fled on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, for there was peace between Jabin, the king of Hazor, and the house of Heber the Kenite.

Но Сисара побежал к шатру Иаили, жены кенея Хевера, потому что между Иавином, царем Хацора, и кланом кенея Хевера был мир.

18 A nd Jael went out to meet Sisera and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a thick coverlet.

Иаиль вышла навстречу Сисаре и сказала ему: – Заходи, мой господин, заходи ко мне. Не бойся. Он вошел в ее шатер, и она укрыла его ковром.

19 A nd he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink, for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk and gave him to drink and covered him again.

– Я хочу пить, – сказал он. – Пожалуйста, дай мне воды. Она открыла бурдюк с молоком, дала ему напиться и укрыла его.

20 A gain he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and if anyone should come and enquire of thee and say, Is there anyone here? Thou shalt say, No.

– Встань у входа в шатер, – сказал он ей. – Если кто-нибудь придет и спросит у тебя: «Есть ли кто здесь?», скажи: «Нет».

21 T hen Jael, Heber’s wife, took the tent stake, and putting a hammer in her hand, went softly unto him and smote the stake into his temples and fastened it into the ground, for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

Но Иаиль, жена Хевера, взяла колышек от шатра и молоток и тихо подошла к нему, когда он, утомившись, уснул. Она пронзила ему висок так, что приколола его к земле, и он умер.

22 A nd as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him and said unto him, Come, and I will show thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he entered into where she was, behold, Sisera lay dead with the stake through his temples.

Когда появился Варак, который гнался за Сисарой, Иаиль вышла к нему навстречу. – Идем, – сказала она, – я покажу тебе человека, которого ты ищешь. Он вошел в ее шатер – там лежал мертвый Сисара, и висок его был пронзен колом.

23 S o God subjected on that day Jabin, the king of Canaan, before the sons of Israel.

В тот день Бог даровал израильтянам победу над ханаанским царем Иавином.

24 A nd the hand of the sons of Israel began to prosper and to prevail against Jabin, the king of Canaan until they had destroyed him.

Рука израильтян над ним становилась все сильнее и сильнее, пока они не уничтожили его.
