1 ¶ Since the Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, be ye also armed with the same thought; for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

Итак, поскольку Христос пострадал телом, то и вы вооружитесь той же мыслью, ведь тот, кто страдал телесно, перестал грешить,

2 s o that now the time that remains in the flesh, he might live, not unto the lusts of men, but unto the will of God.

чтобы остаток земной жизни прожить, руководствуясь уже не человеческими желаниями, а Божьей волей.

3 F or it should suffice us that during the time past of our life we had done the will of the Gentiles, when we conversed in lasciviousness, lusts, drunkenness, gluttony, orgies, and abominable idolatries.

Вы достаточно долго вели образ жизни, какой ведут язычники, предаваясь распутству, страстям, пьянству, обжорству, оргиям и отвратительному идолопоклонству.

4 ¶ And it seems strange to those that speak evil of you, that ye do not run with them to the same unchecked dissolution;

Поэтому язычники и удивляются, что вы больше не участвуете с ними в их распутстве, и злословят вас.

5 t he same shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.

Но они ответят за все перед Тем, Кто готов судить живых и мертвых.

6 B ecause for this cause was the gospel preached also to those that are dead, that they might be judged in flesh according to men, but live in spirit according to God.

Поэтому Радостная Весть была возвещена и мертвым, чтобы они, как и все люди, были телесно осуждены, но жили в духе, подобно тому, как живет Бог.

7 ¶ But the end of all things is at hand; be ye, therefore, temperate and watch unto prayer.

Скоро придет всему конец. Поэтому сохраняйте благоразумие, будьте бдительны, чтобы всегда быть в состоянии молиться.

8 A nd above all things have fervent charity among yourselves; for charity shall cover a multitude of sins.

Прежде всего, преданно любите друг друга, потому что любовь покрывает множество грехов.

9 L ovingly be hospitable one to another without murmuring.

Будьте гостеприимны друг к другу без жалоб.

10 L et each one according to the gift that he has received, administer it unto the others, as a good steward of the diverse graces of God.

Служите друг другу тем даром, какой каждый получил, верно распоряжаясь различными дарами благодати Божьей.

11 I f anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God; if anyone ministers, let them do it according to the virtue which God gives, that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus, the Christ, unto whom is glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Тот, кто говорит, должен делать это как произносящий Божьи слова. Кто служит, пусть служит с силой, которую дает Бог. Пусть во всем этом будет прославлен Бог через Иисуса Христа. Ему да будет слава и сила во веки веков, аминь. Страдания за веру

12 ¶ Beloved, think it not strange when you are tried by fire (which is done to prove you) as though some strange thing happened unto you,

Возлюбленные, не удивляйтесь тому, что вам приходится проходить через огненные испытания, в этом нет ничего странного.

13 b ut rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of the afflictions of the Christ, so that also in the revelation of his glory, ye may rejoice in triumph.

Наоборот, радуйтесь тому, что вы тоже участвуете в страданиях Христа, чтобы вам радоваться и веселиться и тогда, когда откроется Его слава.

14 I f ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; for the glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you; certainly on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.

Если вас оскорбляют за Имя Христа, то вы блаженны, это значит, что Дух славы – Дух Божий – покоится на вас.

15 S o let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as desirous of the things of others.

Главное, чтобы никто из вас не страдал как убийца или вор, или злодей, или как человек, вмешивающийся в чужие дела.

16 B ut if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God on this behalf.

Если же кто-то страдает потому, что он христианин, то пусть он не стыдится, а прославляет Бога за то, что носит это Имя.

17 F or it is time that the judgment begins from the house of God; and if it first begins with us, what shall the end be of those that do not obey the gospel of God?

Время суда настало, и суд начнется с Божьего дома. Подумайте, если он начнется с нас, то какая участь постигнет тех, кто не повинуется Божьей Радостной Вести?

18 A nd if the righteous are saved with difficulty, where shall the unfaithful and the sinner appear?

«Если праведнику нелегко получить спасение, так что же станет с безбожниками и грешниками?»

19 T herefore, let those that are afflicted according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls unto him as unto a faithful Creator, doing good.

Поэтому те, кто страдает по Божьей воле, пусть отдадут свою жизнь в руки Создателя, Который верен, и продолжают делать добро.
