1 ¶ Then came the sons of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month; and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there and was buried there.

В первом месяце народ израильский пришел в пустыню Цин и остановился в Кадеше. Там умерла и была похоронена Мирьям.

2 A nd there was no water for the congregation; and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.

У народа не было воды, и они собрались против Моисея и Аарона.

3 A nd the people contended with Moses and spoke, saying, Oh, that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!

Они стали обвинять Моисея и говорить: – Почему мы не умерли тогда, когда умерли перед Господом наши братья!

4 A nd why have ye caused the congregation of the LORD to come into this wilderness that we and our beasts should die here?

Зачем вы привели народ Господа в эту пустыню? Чтобы мы и наш скот умерли здесь?

5 A nd why have ye made us to come up out of Egypt to bring us in unto this evil place? It is not a place to plant seed or of figs or of vines or of pomegranates; there is not even any water to drink.

Зачем вы вывели нас из Египта и привели в это ужасное место? Здесь не растут ни зерно, ни инжир, ни виноград, ни гранаты. Здесь даже нет воды для питья!

6 A nd Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the congregation unto the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, and they fell upon their faces; and the glory of the LORD appeared upon them.

Моисей и Аарон пошли от народа ко входу в шатер собрания, пали ниц, и им явилась слава Господа.

7 A nd the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

Господь сказал Моисею:

8 T ake the rod and gather the congregation together, thou and Aaron, thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, and it shall give forth its water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

– Возьми посох и вместе со своим братом Аароном собери народ. У них на глазах скажи скале, и она изольет свою воду. Ты дашь народу воду из скалы, чтобы они и их скот утолили жажду.

9 T hen Moses took the rod from before the LORD as he commanded him.

Моисей взял посох, который был перед Господом, как Он повелел ему.

10 A nd Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

Они с Аароном собрали народ перед скалой, и Моисей сказал им: – Послушайте, мятежники, неужели мы дадим вам воду из этой скалы?

11 T hen Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice; and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

Моисей поднял руку и дважды ударил по скале своим посохом. Оттуда хлынула вода, и общество и его скот напились.

12 A nd the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the sons of Israel, therefore, ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

Но Господь сказал Моисею и Аарону: – За то, что у вас не хватило веры, чтобы доказать израильтянам Мою святость, вы не приведете этот народ в землю, которую Я им даю.

13 T hese are the waters of Meribah; over which the sons of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.

Израильтяне ссорились с Господом, и Он показал им Свою святость у вод Меривы. Эдом отказывается пропустить Израиль

14 ¶ And Moses sent ambassadors from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that has befallen us:

Моисей послал вестников из Кадеша к царю Эдома, говоря: – Говорит твой брат Израиль: ты знаешь о всех тяготах, которые выпали на нашу долю.

15 h ow our fathers went down into Egypt, and we were in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers;

Наши отцы пришли в Египет, и мы жили там много лет. Египтяне плохо обращались и с нами, и с нашими отцами,

16 a nd we cried unto the LORD, who heard our voice, and sent an angel and has brought us forth out of Egypt; and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of thy border.

но когда мы воззвали к Господу, Он услышал нас, послал Ангела и вывел нас из Египта. И вот, мы в Кадеше, городе на краю твоей земли.

17 L et us pass, I pray thee, through thy country; we will not pass through the fields or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells; we will go by the king’s high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left until we have passed thy borders.

Прошу, пропусти нас через твою страну. Мы не пойдем ни полями, ни виноградниками, и не будем пить воду из колодцев. Мы будем идти Царской дорогой, мы не свернем ни вправо, ни влево, пока не пройдем твою землю.

18 A nd Edom replied unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me lest I come out against thee with the sword.

Но Эдом ответил: – Вам нельзя здесь пройти. Если вы попытаетесь сделать это, мы выйдем против вас с мечом.

19 A nd the sons of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way; and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it; I will only, without doing anything else, go through on my feet.

Израильтяне сказали: – Мы пройдем главной дорогой, и если мы или наш скот будем пить воду из ваших колодцев, то мы за нее заплатим. Мы хотим лишь пройти пешком – ничего больше.

20 A nd he said, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with many people and with a strong hand.

Те ответили: – Вы не можете пройти. И Эдом выступил против них с большим и сильным войском.

21 T hus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border; and thus Israel turned away from him.

Эдом не пропустил их через свою землю, и Израиль обошел его.

22 ¶ And the sons of Israel, even the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadesh, and came unto Mount Hor.

Народ израильский тронулся в путь из Кадеша и пришел к горе Ор. Смерть Аарона

23 A nd the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor, on the borders of the land of Edom, saying,

У горы Ор, что у границы Эдома, Господь сказал Моисею и Аарону:

24 A aron shall be gathered unto his peoples; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the sons of Israel because ye were rebels to my word at the water of Meribah.

– Аарон упокоится и присоединится к своим предкам. Он не войдет в землю, которую Я даю израильтянам, потому что вы оба ослушались Моего повеления у вод Меривы.

25 T ake Aaron and Eleazar, his son, and bring them up unto Mount Hor

Позови Аарона и его сына Элеазара, и возьми их на гору Ор.

26 a nd cause Aaron to be stripped of his garments and put them upon Eleazar, his son; for Aaron shall be gathered unto his people and shall die there.

Сними с Аарона его одежды и надень их на его сына Элеазара, потому что Аарон упокоится и присоединится к своим предкам – он умрет там.

27 A nd Moses did as the LORD commanded him; and they went up into Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.

Моисей сделал, как повелел Господь: на глазах у народа они поднялись на гору Ор.

28 A nd Moses caused Aaron to be stripped of his garments and put them upon Eleazar, his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount; and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount.

Моисей снял с Аарона его одежды и надел их на его сына Элеазара. И Аарон умер там на вершине горы. Моисей и Элеазар спустились с горы,

29 A nd when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty days, even all the families of Israel.

и когда народ узнал, что Аарон умер, дом Израиля оплакивал его тридцать дней.
