1 ¶ Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

3 a nd say, Thus hath the Lord GOD said concerning Jerusalem: Thy habitation and thy race was of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite and thy mother a Hittite.

y di: “Así dice el Señor Dios a Jerusalén: ‘Por tu origen y tu nacimiento eres de la tierra del cananeo, tu padre era amorreo y tu madre hitita.

4 A nd as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.

‘En cuanto a tu nacimiento, el día que naciste no fue cortado tu cordón umbilical, ni fuiste lavada con agua para limpiarte; no fuiste frotada con sal, ni envuelta en pañales.

5 N o eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have mercy upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field with little value given to thy life, in the day that thou wast born.

‘Ningún ojo se apiadó de ti para hacer por ti alguna de estas cosas, para compadecerse de ti; sino que fuiste echada al campo abierto, porque fuiste aborrecida el día en que naciste.

6 ¶ I passed by thee and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, and I said unto thee, In thy blood thou shalt live; yea, I said unto thee, In thy blood thou shalt live.

‘Yo pasé junto a ti y te vi revolcándote en tu sangre. Mientras estabas en tu sangre, te dije: “¡Vive!” Sí, te dije, mientras estabas en tu sangre: “¡Vive!”

7 I n ten thousands, as the grass of the field, have I placed thee, and thou wast increased and made great, and thou art come to be adorned with excellent ornaments; thy breasts were fashioned, and thy hair is grown; but thou wast naked and bare.

‘Te hice tan numerosa como la hierba del campo. Y creciste, te hiciste grande y llegaste a la plenitud de tu hermosura; se formaron tus pechos y creció tu pelo, pero estabas desnuda y descubierta.

8 A nd I passed by thee and looked upon thee; behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my mantle over thee and covered thy shame; and I gave thee an oath and entered into a covenant with thee, said the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine;

‘Entonces pasé junto a ti y te vi, y he aquí, tu tiempo era tiempo de amores; extendí mi manto sobre ti y cubrí tu desnudez. Te hice juramento y entré en pacto contigo ’ —declara el Señor Dios — ‘y fuiste mía.

9 a nd I washed thee with water and washed away thy blood from upon thee, and I anointed thee with oil.

‘Te lavé con agua, te limpié la sangre y te ungí con aceite.

10 I clothed thee also with broidered work and shod thee with badgers’ skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I clothed thee with silk.

‘Te vestí con tela bordada y puse en tus pies sandalias de piel de marsopa; te envolví con lino fino y te cubrí con seda.

11 I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy arms and a chain on thy neck.

‘Te engalané con adornos, puse brazaletes en tus manos y un collar a tu cuello.

12 A nd I put nose rings upon thy nostrils and earrings in thine ears and a diadem of beauty upon thine head.

‘Puse un anillo en tu nariz, pendientes en tus orejas y una hermosa corona en tu cabeza.

13 T hus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen and silk and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour of wheat and honey and oil: and thou wast made exceeding beautiful, and thou hast prospered even until thou hast reigned.

‘Estabas adornada con oro y plata, y tu vestido era de lino fino, seda y tela bordada. Comías flor de harina, miel y aceite; eras hermosa en extremo y llegaste a la realeza.

14 A nd thy renown went forth among the Gentiles for thy beauty; for it was perfect because of my beauty which I placed upon thee, said the Lord GOD.

‘Entonces tu fama se divulgó entre las naciones por tu hermosura, que era perfecta, gracias al esplendor que yo puse en ti’ —declara el Señor Dios. Infidelidad de Jerusalén

15 ¶ But thou didst trust in thine own beauty and didst play the harlot because of thy renown and didst pour out thy fornications on every one that passed by; thou wert his.

‘Pero tú confiaste en tu hermosura, te prostituiste a causa de tu fama y derramaste tus prostituciones a todo el que pasaba, fuera quien fuera.

16 A nd of thy garments thou didst take and make altars of divers colours and play the harlot thereupon; the like shall not come again, neither shall it be so.

‘Tomaste algunos de tus vestidos y te hiciste lugares altos de varios colores, y te prostituiste en ellos, cosa que nunca debiera haber sucedido ni jamás sucederá.

17 T hou hast taken likewise the vessels of thy beauty of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee and made to thyself images of men and didst commit whoredom with them

‘Tomaste también tus bellas joyas de oro y de plata que yo te había dado, y te hiciste imágenes de hombres para prostituirte con ellas.

18 A nd thou didst take thy garments of many colours and cover them; and thou hast set my oil and my incense before them.

‘Tomaste tu tela bordada y las cubriste, y ofreciste ante ellas mi aceite y mi incienso.

19 M y bread also which I had given thee; the fine flour and the oil and the honey with which I fed thee, thou hast even set it before them for a sweet savour; and thus it was, said the Lord GOD.

‘También te di mi pan, la flor de harina, el aceite y la miel con que yo te alimentaba, y lo ofrecías ante ellas como aroma agradable. Así sucedió’ —declara el Señor Dios.

20 M oreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these thou hast sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter,

‘Tomaste además a tus hijos y a tus hijas que habías dado a luz para mí, y se los sacrificaste como alimento. ¿Acaso eran poca cosa tus prostituciones,

21 t hat thou hast sacrificed my children and given them over to them that they might cause them to pass through the fire unto them?

para que mataras a mis hijos y se los ofrecieras haciéndolos pasar por fuego ?

22 A nd in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms hast thou not remembered the days of thy youth when thou wast naked and bare? Thou wast polluted in thy blood.

‘Y en todas tus abominaciones y prostituciones no te acordaste de los días de tu juventud, cuando estabas desnuda y descubierta y revolcándote en tu sangre.

23 A nd it came to pass after all thy wickedness (woe, woe unto thee! said the Lord GOD)

‘Y sucedió que después de toda tu maldad (“¡Ay, ay de ti!” —declara el Señor Dios )

24 t hat thou hast also built unto thee a high place and hast made thee an altar in every street.

te edificaste un santuario y te hiciste un lugar alto en todas las plazas.

25 T hou hast built thy altar at every head of every way and hast made thy beauty abominable and hast opened thy thighs to every one that passed by and multiplied thy whoredoms.

‘En toda cabecera de camino te edificaste tu lugar alto, y abominable hiciste tu hermosura; y te entregaste a todo el que pasaba y multiplicaste tu prostitución.

26 T hou hast also committed fornication with the sons of Egypt, thy neighbours, great of flesh, and hast increased thy whoredoms, to provoke me to anger.

‘También te prostituiste a los egipcios, tus vecinos de cuerpos robustos, y multiplicaste tu prostitución para provocarme a ira.

27 B ehold, therefore I have stretched out my hand over thee and have diminished thy liberty and delivered thee unto the will of those that hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of thy lewd way.

‘Y he aquí, yo extendí mi mano contra ti y disminuí tus raciones. Y te entregué al deseo de las que te odiaban, las hijas de los filisteos, que se avergonzaban de tu conducta deshonesta.

28 T hou hast played the whore also with the sons of Assyria because thou wast insatiable; thou hast played the harlot with them and yet could not be satisfied.

‘Además, te prostituiste a los asirios porque no te habías saciado; te prostituiste a ellos y ni aun entonces te saciaste.

29 T hou hast likewise multiplied thy fornication in the land of Canaan and of the Chaldeans, and yet thou wast not satisfied with this.

‘También multiplicaste tu prostitución en la tierra de los mercaderes, Caldea, y ni aun con esto te saciaste.’”

30 H ow inconsistent is thy heart, said the Lord GOD, having done all these things, the work of a powerful harlot:

¡Qué débil es tu corazón —declara el Señor Dios — cuando haces todas estas cosas, las acciones de una ramera desvergonzada!

31 b uilding thine altars at the head of every way and making thine altars in every street! And thou hast not been as a harlot in that thou scornest hire,

Cuando edificaste tu santuario en toda cabecera de camino y te hiciste tu lugar alto en cada plaza, al desdeñar la paga, no eras como la ramera.

32 b ut as a wife that commits adultery, who takes strangers instead of her husband!

¡Mujer adúltera, que en lugar de su marido recibe a extraños!

33 T hey give gifts to all whores, but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers and givest them offerings that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredom.

A todas las rameras les dan regalos, pero tú dabas regalos a todos tus amantes y los sobornabas para que vinieran a ti de todas partes para tus prostituciones.

34 A nd in thee it is to the contrary from other women in thy whoredoms; and after thee, there shall never be whoredom like unto thine because in giving thy gifts when gifts are not given unto thee, it has been backwards.

En tus prostituciones eras distinta de las otras mujeres: nadie te solicitaba para fornicar; tú dabas la paga, pero a ti ninguna paga se te daba. Eras distinta.

35 ¶ Therefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:

Por tanto, ramera, oye la palabra del Señor.

36 T hus hath the Lord GOD said: Because thy nakedness has been uncovered, and thy confusion has been manifested to thy lovers in thy whoredoms and to the idols of thy abominations and in the blood of thy children which thou didst give unto them;

Así dice el Señor Dios: Por cuanto fue derramada tu lascivia y descubierta tu desnudez en tus prostituciones con tus amantes y con todos tus detestables ídolos, y a causa de la sangre de tus hijos que les ofreciste,

37 t herefore, behold that I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure and all those that thou hast loved, with all those that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee and will uncover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.

por tanto, he aquí, yo reuniré a todos tus amantes con quienes te gozaste, a todos los que amaste y a todos los que aborreciste; los reuniré de todas partes contra ti, descubriré tu desnudez ante ellos y ellos verán toda tu desnudez.

38 A nd I will judge thee by the laws regarding women who commit adultery and those that shed blood; and I will give thee away in blood of fury and of jealousy.

Te juzgaré como son juzgadas las adúlteras y las que derraman sangre, y traeré sobre ti sangre de furor y de celos.

39 A nd I will deliver thee into their hand, and they shall destroy thy high place and shall break down thy altars; they shall strip thee also of thy clothes and shall take the vessels of thy glory and shall leave thee naked and bare.

También te entregaré en manos de tus amantes y ellos derribarán tus santuarios, destruirán tus lugares altos, te despojarán de tus vestidos, te quitarán tus bellas joyas y te dejarán desnuda y descubierta.

40 T hey shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones and thrust thee through with their swords.

Incitarán contra ti una multitud, y te apedrearán y te harán pedazos con sus espadas.

41 A nd they shall burn thine houses with fire and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women; and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou also shalt give no hire any more.

Prenderán fuego a tus casas y ejecutarán juicios contra ti a la vista de muchas mujeres. Y haré que dejes de ser ramera y no darás más paga a tus amantes.

42 S o will I make my fury toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet and will no longer be angry.

Desahogaré mi furor en ti; mis celos se apartarán de ti, me apaciguaré y no me enojaré más.

43 B ecause thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth but hast provoked me to anger in all this; therefore, behold I also have recompensed thy way upon thine head, said the Lord GOD; for thou hast not even thought regarding all thine abominations.

Por cuanto no te has acordado de los días de tu juventud, sino que me has irritado con todas estas cosas, he aquí, también yo haré recaer tu conducta sobre tu cabeza —declara el Señor Dios — para que no cometas esta lascivia con todas tus otras abominaciones. Jerusalén comparada con Sodoma y Samaria

44 ¶ Behold, every one that makes proverbs shall make this proverb regarding thee, saying: As is the mother so is her daughter.

He aquí, todo aquel que cita proverbios repetirá este proverbio acerca de ti, diciendo: “De tal madre, tal hija.”

45 T hou art thy mother’s daughter that discarded her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters who discarded their husbands and their children: your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

Eres hija de tu madre que aborreció a su marido y a sus hijos, y hermana de tus hermanas que aborrecieron a sus maridos y a sus hijos. Vuestra madre era hitita y vuestro padre amorreo.

46 A nd thine elder sister is Samaria with her daughters that dwell at thy left hand; and thy younger sister that dwells at thy right hand is Sodom with her daughters.

Tu hermana mayor es Samaria que con sus hijas habita al norte de ti, y tu hermana menor es Sodoma que habita al sur de ti con sus hijas.

47 Y et thou hast not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations; but, as if that were a very little thing, thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways.

Pero no sólo has andado en sus caminos y has hecho según sus abominaciones, sino que, como si eso fuera muy poco, te has corrompido más que ellas en todos tus caminos.

48 A s I live, said the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister has never done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.

Vivo yo —declara el Señor Dios — que tu hermana Sodoma y sus hijas no han hecho como tú y tus hijas habéis hecho.

49 B ehold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the afflicted and needy.

He aquí, esta fue la iniquidad de tu hermana Sodoma: arrogancia, abundancia de pan y completa ociosidad tuvieron ella y sus hijas; pero no ayudaron al pobre ni al necesitado,

50 A nd they filled themselves with arrogance and committed abomination before me, and when I saw it, I took them away.

y se enorgullecieron y cometieron abominaciones delante de mí. Y cuando lo vi las hice desaparecer.

51 N either has Samaria committed half of thy sins, but thou hast multiplied thy abominations more than they and hast justified thy sisters with all thy abominations which thou hast done.

Ni aun Samaria ha cometido ni la mitad de tus pecados, pues tú has multiplicado tus abominaciones más que ellas, y has hecho aparecer justas a tus hermanas con todas las abominaciones que has cometido.

52 T hou also, who hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they; they are more righteous than thou; be thou confounded also and bear thy shame in that thou hast justified thy sisters.

También tú, carga con tu ignominia ya que has hecho juicios favorables de tus hermanas. A causa de tus pecados, en los que obraste en forma más abominable que ellas, ellas son más justas que tú. Tú pues, avergüénzate también y carga con tu ignominia, ya que hiciste parecer justas a tus hermanas.

53 W hen I shall turn their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then I will release the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them:

Y cambiaré su suerte, la suerte de Sodoma y de sus hijas, la suerte de Samaria y de sus hijas, y junto con ellas, tu propia suerte,

54 t hat thou may bear thine own shame and may be confounded in all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them.

para que cargues con tu humillación y te avergüences de todo lo que has hecho cuando seas consuelo para ellas.

55 W hen thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters shall return to their first state, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their first state, thou and thy daughters shall return to your first state.

Y tus hermanas, Sodoma con sus hijas y Samaria con sus hijas, volverán a su estado anterior; también tú y tus hijas volveréis a vuestro estado anterior.

56 S odom, thy sister was not mentioned by thy mouth in the time of thy pride,

El nombre de tu hermana Sodoma no era mencionado en tu boca el día de tu soberbia,

57 b efore thy wickedness discovered itself, as at the time of the reproach of the daughters of Syria and of all the daughters of the Philistines round about, who despise thee in everything.

antes que fuera descubierta tu maldad. Como ella has venido a ser tú el oprobio de las hijas de Edom y de todas sus vecinas y de las hijas de los filisteos que te desprecian por todos lados.

58 T hou hast borne thy lewdness and thine abominations, said the LORD.

Llevas sobre ti el castigo de tu lascivia y de tus abominaciones —declara el Señor.

59 F or thus hath the Lord GOD said: Will I deal with thee even as thou hast done, despising the oath to invalidate the covenant?

Porque así dice el Señor Dios: Yo haré contigo como has hecho tú, que has despreciado el juramento violando el pacto.

60 ¶ Nevertheless I will remember my covenant that I made with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will confirm unto thee an everlasting covenant.

Yo recordaré sin embargo mi pacto contigo en los días de tu juventud, y estableceré para ti un pacto eterno.

61 T hen thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder and thy younger: and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.

Entonces te acordarás de tus caminos y te avergonzarás cuando recibas a tus hermanas, las mayores que tú y las menores que tú; y te las daré por hijas, pero no por causa de tu pacto.

62 A nd I will confirm my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD:

Estableceré mi pacto contigo; y sabrás que yo soy el Señor;

63 t hat thou may remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, said the Lord GOD.

para que recuerdes y te avergüences, y nunca más abras la boca a causa de tu humillación, cuando yo te haya perdonado por todo lo que has hecho —declara el Señor Dios.
