1 ¶ And the man knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain and said, I have gained a man by the LORD.

Y el hombre conoció a Eva, su mujer, y ella concibió y dio a luz a Caín, y dijo: He adquirido varón con la ayuda del Señor.

2 A nd she again bore his brother Abel. And Abel was a pastor of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

Después dio a luz a su hermano Abel. Y Abel fue pastor de ovejas y Caín fue labrador de la tierra.

3 ¶ And in process of time it came to pass that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground a present unto the LORD.

Y aconteció que al transcurrir el tiempo, Caín trajo al Señor una ofrenda del fruto de la tierra.

4 A nd Abel, he also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD looked upon Abel and his present,

También Abel, por su parte, trajo de los primogénitos de sus ovejas y de la grosura de los mismos. Y el Señor miró con agrado a Abel y a su ofrenda,

5 b ut he did not look upon Cain and his present. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

pero a Caín y su ofrenda no miró con agrado. Y Caín se enojó mucho y su semblante se demudó.

6 ¶ Then the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

Entonces el Señor dijo a Caín: ¿Por qué estás enojado, y por qué se ha demudado tu semblante?

7 I f thou doest good, it shall certainly be accepted; and if thou doest not good, sin lies at the door. And his desire shall be unto thee, but thou must rule over him.

Si haces bien, ¿no serás aceptado? Y si no haces bien, el pecado yace a la puerta y te codicia, pero tú debes dominarlo.

8 ¶ And Cain talked with Abel his brother, and it came to pass when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and slew him.

Y Caín dijo a su hermano Abel: vayamos al campo. Y aconteció que cuando estaban en el campo, Caín se levantó contra su hermano Abel y lo mató. La maldición de Caín

9 ¶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not, Am I my brother’s keeper?

Entonces el Señor dijo a Caín: ¿Dónde está tu hermano Abel ? Y él respondió: No sé. ¿Soy yo acaso guardián de mi hermano?

10 A nd he said, What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother’s blood cries unto me from the ground.

Y El le dijo: ¿Qué has hecho? La voz de la sangre de tu hermano clama a mí desde la tierra.

11 A nd now thou art cursed from the earth, which has opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;

Ahora pues, maldito eres de la tierra, que ha abierto su boca para recibir de tu mano la sangre de tu hermano.

12 w hen thou tillest the ground, from now on it shall not yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

Cuando cultives el suelo, no te dará más su vigor; vagabundo y errante serás en la tierra.

13 ¶ And Cain said unto the LORD, My iniquity is greater than I can bear.

Y Caín dijo al Señor: Mi castigo es demasiado grande para soportarlo.

14 B ehold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I hide; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass that anyone that finds me shall slay me.

He aquí, me has arrojado hoy de la faz de la tierra, y de tu presencia me esconderé, y seré vagabundo y errante en la tierra; y sucederá que cualquiera que me halle me matará.

15 A nd the LORD said unto him, Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

Entonces el Señor le dijo: No será así; pues cualquiera que mate a Caín, siete veces sufrirá venganza. Y puso el Señor una señal sobre Caín, para que cualquiera que lo hallase no lo matara. Descendientes de Caín

16 ¶ And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.

Y salió Caín de la presencia del Señor, y se estableció en la tierra de Nod, al oriente del Edén.

17 A nd Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch; and he built a city and called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch.

Y conoció Caín a su mujer, y ella concibió y dio a luz a Enoc; y edificó una ciudad y la llamó Enoc, como el nombre de su hijo.

18 A nd unto Enoch was born Irad, and Irad begat Mehujael, and Mehujael begat Methusael, and Methusael begat Lamech.

A Enoc le nació Irad, Irad engendró a Mehujael, Mehujael engendró a Metusael, y Metusael engendró a Lamec.

19 ¶ And Lamech took unto him two wives; the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.

Lamec tomó para sí dos mujeres; el nombre de una era Ada, y el nombre de la otra, Zila.

20 A nd Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and of those who have cattle.

Y Ada dio a luz a Jabal, el cual fue padre de los que habitan en tiendas y tienen ganado.

21 A nd his brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the harp and organ.

Su hermano se llamaba Jubal, el cual fue padre de todos los que tocan la lira y la flauta.

22 A nd Zillah also bore Tubalcain, an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron; and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.

Y Zila a su vez dio a luz a Tubal-caín, forjador de todo utensilio de bronce y de hierro; y la hermana de Tubal-caín era Naama.

23 ¶ And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech, for I shall slay a man for my wound and a young man for my hurt;

Y Lamec dijo a sus mujeres: Ada y Zila, oíd mi voz; mujeres de Lamec, prestad oído a mis palabras, pues he dado muerte a un hombre por haberme herido, y a un muchacho por haberme pegado.

24 i f Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy times seven.

Si siete veces es vengado Caín, entonces Lamec lo será setenta veces siete. Nacimiento de Set

25 ¶ And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Seth; for God, said she, has appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

Y conoció Adán otra vez a su mujer; y ella dio a luz un hijo y le puso por nombre Set, porque, dijo ella: Dios me ha dado otro hijo en lugar de Abel, pues Caín lo mató.

26 A nd to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos. Then men began to call upon the name of the LORD.

A Set le nació también un hijo y le puso por nombre Enós. Por ese tiempo comenzaron los hombres a invocar el nombre del Señor.
