1 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

Entonces habló el Señor a Moisés, diciendo:

2 A venge the sons of Israel upon the Midianites; afterward thou shalt be gathered unto thy peoples.

Toma venganza completa sobre los madianitas por los hijos de Israel; después serás reunido a tu pueblo.

3 A nd Moses spoke unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war and let them go against the Midianites and carry out the vengeance of the LORD in Midian.

Y habló Moisés al pueblo, diciendo: Armad a algunos hombres de entre vosotros para la guerra, a fin de que suban contra Madián para ejecutar la venganza del Señor en Madián.

4 A thousand out of every tribe throughout all the tribes of Israel shall ye send to the war.

Enviaréis a la guerra mil de cada tribu, de todas las tribus de Israel.

5 S o there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.

Entonces se prepararon de entre los miles de Israel, mil de cada tribu, doce mil hombres armados para la guerra.

6 A nd Moses sent them to the war; he sent a thousand of every tribe; and Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, went to the war with the holy instruments, with the trumpets to blow in his hand.

Y Moisés los envió a la guerra, mil de cada tribu, y a Finees, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, a la guerra con ellos, con los vasos sagrados y las trompetas en su mano para la alarma.

7 ¶ And they fought against the Midianites as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.

E hicieron guerra contra Madián, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés, y mataron a todos los varones.

8 A nd they also slew the kings of Midian among the rest of those that were slain: namely, Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, five kings of Midian; they also slew Balaam, the son of Beor, with the sword.

Y junto con sus muertos, mataron a los reyes de Madián: Evi, Requem, Zur, Hur y Reba, los cinco reyes de Madián. También mataron a espada a Balaam, hijo de Beor.

9 A nd the sons of Israel took all the women of Midian captives and their little ones and took the spoil of all their beasts and all their flocks and all their goods.

Y los hijos de Israel tomaron cautivas a las mujeres de Madián y a sus pequeños; y saquearon todo su ganado, todos sus rebaños y todos sus bienes.

10 A nd they burnt all their cities in which they dwelt and all their palaces with fire.

Después prendieron fuego a todas las ciudades donde habitaban y a todos sus campamentos.

11 A nd they took all the spoil and all the prey, both of men and of beasts.

Y tomaron todo el despojo y todo el botín, tanto de hombres como de animales.

12 A nd they brought the captives and the prey and the spoil unto Moses and Eleazar, the priest, and unto the congregation of the sons of Israel, unto the camp in the plains of Moab, which was by Jordan of Jericho.

Y trajeron los cautivos, el botín y los despojos a Moisés, al sacerdote Eleazar y a la congregación de los hijos de Israel, al campamento en las llanuras de Moab que están junto al Jordán, frente a Jericó.

13 ¶ And Moses and Eleazar, the priest, and all the princes of the congregation went forth to meet them outside the camp.

Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar, y todos los jefes de la congregación salieron a recibirlos fuera del campamento.

14 A nd Moses was angry with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands and captains over hundreds who returned from the battle.

Moisés se enojó con los oficiales del ejército, los capitanes de miles y los capitanes de cientos, que volvían del servicio en la guerra,

15 A nd Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?

y les dijo Moisés: ¿Habéis dejado con vida a todas las mujeres ?

16 B ehold, these caused the sons of Israel through the counsel of Balaam to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor for which there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.

He aquí, éstas fueron la causa de que los hijos de Israel, por el consejo de Balaam, fueran infieles al Señor en el asunto de Peor, por lo que hubo plaga entre la congregación del Señor.

17 N ow therefore kill every male among the little ones and kill every woman that has known a man by lying with him.

Ahora pues, matad a todo varón entre los niños, y matad a toda mujer que haya conocido varón acostándose con él.

18 B ut all the female children that have not known a man by lying with him keep alive for yourselves.

Pero a todas las jóvenes que no hayan conocido varón acostándose con él, las dejaréis con vida para vosotros.

19 A nd ye must abide outside the camp seven days; and whoever has killed any person and whoever has touched any dead body ye shall remove the sin from them on the third and on the seventh day, both of yourselves and of your captives.

Y vosotros, acampad fuera del campamento por siete días; todo el que haya matado a una persona y todo el que haya tocado a un muerto, purificaos, vosotros y vuestros cautivos, al tercero y al séptimo día.

20 L ikewise remove all sin from all your clothing and all that is made of skins and all work of goats’ hair and every vessel made of wood.

Y purificaréis todo vestido, todo artículo de cuero y toda obra de pelo de cabra y todo objeto de madera.

21 A nd Eleazar, the priest, said unto the men of war which went to the battle, This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD commanded Moses;

Entonces el sacerdote Eleazar dijo a los hombres de guerra que habían ido a la batalla: Este es el estatuto de la ley que el Señor ha ordenado a Moisés:

22 c ertainly the gold and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

sólo el oro, la plata, el bronce, el hierro, el estaño y el plomo,

23 e very thing that may endure the fire, ye shall cause to pass through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless, ye shall remove the sin with the water of separation; and all that does not endure the fire ye shall cause to go through the water.

todo lo que resiste el fuego, pasaréis por el fuego y será limpio, pero será purificado con el agua para la impureza. Mas todo lo que no resiste el fuego lo pasaréis por agua.

24 Y e shall also wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and afterwards ye shall come into the camp.

Y en el séptimo día lavaréis vuestra ropa y seréis limpios; después podréis entrar al campamento.

25 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

Entonces habló el Señor a Moisés, diciendo:

26 T ake the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou and Eleazar, the priest, and the heads of the fathers of the congregation,

Cuenta el botín que fue tomado tanto de hombres como de animales; tú con el sacerdote Eleazar, y los jefes de las casas paternas de la congregación,

27 a nd divide the prey into two parts between those that took the part in the war, who went out to battle, and all the congregation.

y divide en mitades el botín entre los guerreros que salieron a la batalla y toda la congregación.

28 A nd offer a tribute unto the LORD from the men of war who went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons and of the oxen and of the asses and of the sheep.

Y toma un tributo para el Señor de los hombres de guerra que salieron a la batalla, uno por cada quinientos, tanto de las personas como de los bueyes, de los asnos y de las ovejas;

29 T ake it from their half and give Eleazar, the priest, the offering of the LORD.

tómalo de la mitad de ellos, y dáselo al sacerdote Eleazar, como ofrenda al Señor.

30 A nd of the half belonging to the sons of Israel, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of animals and give them unto the Levites, who keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.

Y de la mitad de los hijos de Israel tomarás uno de cada cincuenta, tanto de las personas como de los bueyes, de los asnos y de las ovejas, de cualquier animal, y los darás a los levitas que guardan el tabernáculo del Señor.

31 A nd Moses and Eleazar, the priest, did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar hicieron tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

32 A nd the prey, that is the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught, was six hundred and seventy-five thousand sheep

Y el botín que quedó del despojo que los hombres de guerra habían tomado fue de seiscientas setenta y cinco mil ovejas,

33 a nd seventy-two thousand oxen

setenta y dos mil cabezas de ganado,

34 a nd sixty-one thousand asses

y sesenta y un mil asnos;

35 a nd thirty-two thousand persons in all, of women that had not known a man by lying with him.

y de los seres humanos, de las mujeres que no habían conocido varón acostándose con él, fueron en total treinta y dos mil.

36 A nd the half which was the portion of those that went out to war was in number three hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundred sheep.

Y la mitad, la porción para los que salieron a la guerra, fue de trescientas treinta y siete mil quinientas ovejas en número;

37 A nd the tribute for the LORD, of the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five.

el tributo al Señor fue de seiscientas setenta y cinco ovejas;

38 A nd the oxen were thirty-six thousand, of which the tribute for the LORD was seventy-two.

y las cabezas de ganado, treinta y seis mil, de las cuales el tributo al Señor fue de setenta y dos;

39 A nd the asses were thirty thousand five hundred, of which the tribute for the LORD was sixty-one.

y los asnos, treinta mil quinientos, de los cuales el tributo al Señor fue de sesenta y uno.

40 A nd the persons were sixteen thousand, of which the tribute for the LORD was thirty-two persons.

Y los seres humanos, dieciséis mil, de los cuales el tributo al Señor fue de treinta y dos personas.

41 A nd Moses gave the tribute, which was the LORD’s heave offering, unto Eleazar, the priest, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Y Moisés dio el tributo, que era la ofrenda del Señor, al sacerdote Eleazar, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

42 A nd of the half pertaining to the sons of Israel, which Moses divided from the men that had gone to war,

En cuanto a la mitad para los hijos de Israel, que Moisés había apartado de los hombres que habían ido a la guerra,

43 ( now the half that pertained unto the congregation was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundred sheep

la mitad del botín de la congregación fue de trescientas treinta y siete mil quinientas ovejas,

44 a nd thirty-six thousand oxen

treinta y seis mil cabezas de ganado,

45 a nd thirty thousand five hundred asses

treinta mil quinientos asnos,

46 a nd sixteen thousand persons)

y dieciséis mil seres humanos.

47 o f the half, therefore of the sons of Israel, Moses took one portion of fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, who kept the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Y de la mitad del botín de los hijos de Israel, Moisés tomó uno de cada cincuenta, tanto de hombres como de animales, y se los dio a los levitas, los cuales estaban encargados del tabernáculo del Señor, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

48 ¶ And the officers who were over thousands of the host, the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses,

Entonces los oficiales que estaban sobre los miles del ejército, los capitanes de miles y los capitanes de cientos, se acercaron a Moisés;

49 a nd they said unto Moses, Thy slaves have taken the sum of the men of war who are under our charge and not one man of us is missing.

y dijeron a Moisés: Tus siervos han levantado un censo de los hombres de guerra que están a nuestro cargo, y ninguno de nosotros falta.

50 W e have therefore brought an offering for the LORD, each man of what he has found, of vessels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to reconcile our souls before the LORD.

Por tanto, hemos traído al Señor, como ofrenda, lo que cada hombre ha hallado: objetos de oro, pulseras, brazaletes, anillos, pendientes y collares, para hacer expiación por nosotros ante el Señor.

51 A nd Moses and Eleazar, the priest, took the gold from them, all wrought vessels.

Y Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron de ellos el oro y toda clase de objetos labrados.

52 A nd all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the LORD, of the captains of thousands and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.

Y el total del oro de la ofrenda que ellos ofrecieron al Señor, de los capitanes de miles y de los capitanes de cientos, fue de dieciséis mil setecientos cincuenta siclos.

53 ( For the men of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.)

Los hombres de guerra habían tomado botín, cada hombre algo para sí mismo.

54 A nd Moses and Eleazar, the priest, took the gold from the captains of thousands and of hundreds and brought it into the tabernacle of the testimony, for a memorial of the sons of Israel before the LORD.

Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar recibieron el oro de los capitanes de miles y de cientos, y lo llevaron a la tienda de reunión como memorial para los hijos de Israel delante del Señor.
