1 ¶ Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Por tanto, amados, teniendo estas promesas, limpiémonos de toda inmundicia de la carne y del espíritu, perfeccionando la santidad en el temor de Dios.

2 R eceive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

Aceptadnos en vuestro corazón; a nadie hemos ofendido, a nadie hemos corrompido, de nadie hemos tomado ventaja.

3 I speak this not to condemn you, for I have said before that ye are in our hearts to die and live together with us.

No hablo para condenar os; porque he dicho antes que estáis en nuestro corazón para morir juntos y para vivir juntos.

4 G reat is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you; I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.

Mucha es mi confianza en vosotros, tengo mucho orgullo de vosotros, lleno estoy de consuelo y sobreabundo de gozo en toda nuestra aflicción. Pablo confortado

5 ¶ For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.

Pues aun cuando llegamos a Macedonia, nuestro cuerpo no tuvo ningún reposo, sino que nos vimos atribulados por todos lados: por fuera, conflictos; por dentro, temores.

6 N evertheless God, who comforts the humble, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

Pero Dios, que consuela a los deprimidos, nos consoló con la llegada de Tito;

7 a nd not by his coming only, but by the consolation with which he was comforted in you when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your zeal for me so that I rejoiced the more.

y no sólo con su llegada, sino también con el consuelo con que él fue consolado en vosotros, haciéndonos saber vuestro gran afecto, vuestro llanto y vuestro celo por mí; de manera que me regocijé aún más.

8 F or though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent; for I perceive that the same epistle has made you sorry, though it were but for a season.

Porque si bien os causé tristeza con mi carta, no me pesa; aun cuando me pesó, pues veo que esa carta os causó tristeza, aunque sólo por poco tiempo;

9 N ow I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance; for ye were made sorry by God that ye might suffer no loss by us.

pero ahora me regocijo, no de que fuisteis entristecidos, sino de que fuisteis entristecidos para arrepentimiento; porque fuisteis entristecidos conforme a la voluntad de Dios, para que no sufrierais pérdida alguna de parte nuestra.

10 F or godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, of which there is no need to repented; but the sorrow of the world works death.

Porque la tristeza que es conforme a la voluntad de Dios produce un arrepentimiento que conduce a la salvación, sin dejar pesar; pero la tristeza del mundo produce muerte.

11 F or behold this same thing, that when ye were made sorry by God, what carefulness it wrought in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things ye have shown yourselves to be clean in this matter.

Porque mirad, ¡qué solicitud ha producido en vosotros esto, esta tristeza piadosa, qué vindicación de vosotros mismos, qué indignación, qué temor, qué gran afecto, qué celo, qué castigo del mal! En todo habéis demostrado ser inocentes en el asunto.

12 ¶ So that, though I wrote unto you, I did it not only for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.

Así que, aunque os escribí, no fue por causa del que ofendió, ni por causa del ofendido, sino para que vuestra solicitud por nosotros se manifestara a vosotros delante de Dios.

13 T herefore we were comforted in your comfort; yea, and we rejoiced even more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.

Por esta razón hemos sido consolados. Y aparte de nuestro consuelo, mucho más nos regocijamos por el gozo de Tito, pues su espíritu ha sido confortado por todos vosotros.

14 F or if I have gloried of anything to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spoke all things to you in truth, even so our glorying, which I made before Titus, was found true.

Porque si en algo me he jactado con él acerca de vosotros, no fui avergonzado, sino que así como os hemos dicho todo con verdad, así también nuestra jactancia ante Tito resultó ser la verdad.

15 A nd his inward affection is more abundant toward you while he remembers the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.

Y su amor hacia vosotros abunda aún más al acordarse de la obediencia de todos vosotros, y de cómo lo recibisteis con temor y temblor.

16 I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things.

Me gozo de que en todo tengo confianza en vosotros.
