1 ¶ Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

¶ Así que, amados, pues teniendo tales promesas, limpiémonos de toda inmundicia de carne y de espíritu, perfeccionando la santificación en temor de Dios.

2 R eceive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

Admitidnos: a nadie hemos injuriado, a nadie hemos corrompido, a nadie hemos engañado.

3 I speak this not to condemn you, for I have said before that ye are in our hearts to die and live together with us.

No para condenaros lo digo; que ya he dicho antes; estáis en nuestros corazones, para morir y para vivir juntamente con nosotros.

4 G reat is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying of you; I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.

Mucho atrevimiento tengo para con vosotros, mucho me glorío de vosotros; lleno estoy de consolación, sobre-abundo de gozo en todas nuestras tribulaciones.

5 ¶ For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.

¶ Porque aun cuando vinimos a Macedonia, ningún reposo tuvo nuestra carne; antes, en todo fuimos atribulados; de fuera, cuestiones; de dentro, temores.

6 N evertheless God, who comforts the humble, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

Pero Dios, que consuela a los humildes, nos consoló con la venida de Tito;

7 a nd not by his coming only, but by the consolation with which he was comforted in you when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your zeal for me so that I rejoiced the more.

y no sólo con su venida, sino también con la consolación con que él fue consolado acerca de vosotros, haciéndonos saber vuestro deseo (grande), vuestro lloro, vuestro celo por mí, para que así me gozara más.

8 F or though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent; for I perceive that the same epistle has made you sorry, though it were but for a season.

Porque aunque os contristé por la carta, no me arrepiento, aunque me pesó; porque veo que aquella carta, aunque por algún tiempo os contristó.

9 N ow I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance; for ye were made sorry by God that ye might suffer no loss by us.

Ahora me gozo, no porque hayáis sido contristados, sino porque fuisteis contristados para enmienda; porque habéis sido contristados según Dios, de tal manera que ninguna pérdida padecisteis por nuestra parte.

10 F or godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, of which there is no need to repented; but the sorrow of the world works death.

Porque el dolor que es según Dios, hace enmienda saludable, de la cual no hay que arrepentirse; pero el dolor del mundo obra muerte.

11 F or behold this same thing, that when ye were made sorry by God, what carefulness it wrought in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things ye have shown yourselves to be clean in this matter.

Porque he aquí esto mismo, que según Dios fuisteis contristados, ¿cuánta solicitud ha obrado en vosotros? ¡ Qué defensa, qué enojo, qué temor, qué (gran) deseo, qué celo, y qué vindicación! En todo os habéis mostrado limpios en el asunto.

12 ¶ So that, though I wrote unto you, I did it not only for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.

¶ Así que, aunque os escribí, no fue solamente por causa del que hizo la injuria, ni por causa del que la padeció, sino también para que os fuera manifiesta nuestra solicitud que tenemos por vosotros delante de Dios.

13 T herefore we were comforted in your comfort; yea, and we rejoiced even more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.

Por tanto, tomamos consolación de vuestra consolación, pero mucho más nos gozamos por el gozo de Tito, que haya sido recreado su espíritu por todos vosotros.

14 F or if I have gloried of anything to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spoke all things to you in truth, even so our glorying, which I made before Titus, was found true.

Y si algo me he gloriado para con él de vosotros, no he sido avergonzado; sino que así, como todo lo que habíamos dicho de vosotros era con verdad, así también nuestra gloria delante de Tito fue hallada verdadera.

15 A nd his inward affection is more abundant toward you while he remembers the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.

Y sus entrañas son más abundantes para con vosotros, cuando se acuerda de la obediencia de todos vosotros, y de cómo lo recibisteis con temor y temblor.

16 I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things.

Así que me gozo de que en todo estoy confiado de vosotros.
