1 ¶ Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

Y otro día aconteció que vinieron los hijos de Dios para presentarse delante del SEÑOR, y vino también entre ellos Satanás compareciendo delante del SEÑOR.

2 A nd the LORD said unto Satan, Where dost thou come from? And Satan answered the LORD and said, From going to and fro in the earth and from walking up and down in it.

Y dijo el SEÑOR a Satanás: ¿De dónde vienes? Respondió Satanás al SEÑOR, y dijo: De rodear la tierra, y de andar por ella.

3 A nd the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my slave Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God and has departed from evil and that he still retains his perfection, although thou didst incite me against him to destroy him without cause.

Y el SEÑOR dijo a Satanás: ¿No has considerado a mi siervo Job, que no hay otro como él en la tierra, varón perfecto y recto, temeroso de Dios y apartado de mal, y que aún retiene su perfección, habiéndome tú incitado contra él, para que lo arruinara sin causa?

4 A nd Satan answered the LORD and said, Skin for skin, all that a man has he will give for his life.

Y respondiendo Satanás dijo al SEÑOR: Piel por piel, todo lo que el hombre tiene dará por su alma.

5 B ut put forth thy hand now and touch his bone and his flesh, and thou shalt see if he does not blaspheme thee to thy face.

Mas extiende ahora tu mano, y tócalo a él mismo, y a su carne, y verás si no te blasfema en tu rostro.

6 A nd the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thy hand, but preserve his life.

Y el SEÑOR dijo a Satanás: He aquí, él está en tu mano; mas guarda su vida.

7 ¶ So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto the crown of his head.

¶ Y salió Satanás de delante del SEÑOR, e hirió a Job de una maligna sarna desde la planta de su pie hasta la coronilla de su cabeza.

8 A nd he took a potsherd to scratch himself with, and he was sitting among the ashes.

Y tomaba una teja para rascarse con ella, y estaba sentado en medio de ceniza.

9 T hen his wife said unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? Blaspheme God and die.

¶ Entonces le dijo su mujer: ¿Aún retienes tu integridad? Blasfema a Dios, y muérete.

10 B ut he said unto her, Thou hast spoken as any of the foolish women speak. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God and shall we not receive evil? In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

Y él le dijo: Como suele hablar cualquiera de las locas, has hablado. Está bien: recibimos el bien de Dios, ¿y el mal no lo recibiremos? En todo esto no pecó Job con sus labios.

11 ¶ Now three friends of Job, Eliphaz, the Temanite, Bildad, the Shuhite, and Zophar, the Naamathite, when they heard of all this evil that had come upon him, each one came from his own place; for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.

¶ Y tres amigos de Job, Elifaz temanita, y Bildad suhita, y Zofar naamatita, luego que oyeron todo este mal que le había sobrevenido, vinieron cada uno de su lugar; porque habían concertado de venir juntos a condolerse de él, y a consolarle.

12 A nd when they lifted up their eyes afar off and knew him not, they lifted up their voice and wept; and each one rent his mantle and sprinkled dust upon his head toward heaven.

Los cuales alzando los ojos desde lejos, no lo conocieron, y lloraron a voz en grito; y cada uno de ellos rasgó su manto, y esparcieron polvo sobre sus cabezas hacia el cielo.

13 S o they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word unto him; for they saw that his grief was very great.

Así se sentaron con él en tierra por siete días y siete noches, y ninguno le hablaba palabra, porque veían que el dolor era muy grande.
