1 ¶ The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.

Carga de Babilonia, que vio Isaías, hijo de Amoz.

2 L ift ye up a banner as an example upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, raise the hand, that they may enter in by gates of princes.

Levantad bandera de ejemplo sobre un alto monte; alzad la voz a ellos; alzad la mano para que entren por puertas de príncipes.

3 I have commanded my sanctified ones; I have also called my mighty ones for my anger that they might rejoice with my glory.

Yo mandé a mis santificados, asimismo llamé a mis valientes para mi ira, que se alegran con mi gloria.

4 T he noise of a multitude in the mountains like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of kingdoms, of Gentiles gathered together: the LORD of the hosts orders the host of the battle.

Murmullo de multitud suena en los montes, como de mucho pueblo; murmullo de sonido de reinos, de gentiles reunidos; el SEÑOR de los ejércitos ordena las tropas de la batalla.

5 T hey come from a far land, from the end of the heavens, even the LORD, and the instruments of his indignation, to destroy the whole earth.

Vienen de lejana tierra, de lo postrero de los cielos, el SEÑOR y los instrumentos de su furor, para destruir toda la tierra.

6 ¶ Howl; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as destruction from the Almighty.

Aullad, porque cerca está el día del SEÑOR; como asolamiento por Poderoso vendrá.

7 T herefore all hands shall be faint, and every heart of man shall melt:

Por tanto, se descoyuntarán todas las manos, y todo corazón de hombre se desleirá.

8 A nd they shall be filled with terror; anguish and pain shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travails: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

Y se llenarán de terror; angustias y dolores los invadirán; tendrán dolores como mujer de parto; se asombrarán al mirar a su compañero; sus rostros, rostros de llamas.

9 B ehold, the day of the LORD comes, cruel and with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the earth desolate; and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

He aquí que el día del SEÑOR viene, cruel y de enojo y ardor de ira, para tornar la tierra en soledad, y raer de ella sus pecadores.

10 F or this reason the stars of the heavens and the lights thereof shall not shine: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not give forth her light.

Por lo cual las estrellas de los cielos y sus luceros no derramarán su lumbre; el sol se oscurecerá al nacer, y la luna no echará su resplandor.

11 A nd I will visit evil upon the world and iniquity upon the wicked, and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease and will lay low the haughtiness of the strong.

Y visitaré la maldad sobre el mundo, y sobre los impíos su iniquidad; y haré que cese la arrogancia de los soberbios, y abatiré la altivez de los fuertes.

12 I will make the noble man more precious than fine gold and man more than the gold of Ophir.

Haré más precioso que el oro fino al varón; y al hombre más que el oro de Ofir.

13 B ecause I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall be moved out of her place, in the indignation of the LORD of the hosts and in the day of his fierce anger.

Porque haré estremecer los cielos, y la tierra se moverá de su lugar, en la indignación del SEÑOR de los ejércitos, y en el día de la ira de su furor.

14 A nd it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep without a shepherd: they shall each man look unto his own people, and flee each one unto his own land.

Y será que como gacela perseguida, y como oveja sin pastor; cada cual mirará hacia su pueblo, y cada uno huirá a su tierra.

15 E very one that is found shall be thrust through, and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.

Cualquiera que fuere hallado, será alanceado; y cualquiera que a ellos se juntare, caerá a espada.

16 T heir children shall also be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

Sus niños serán estrellados delante de ellos; sus casas serán saqueadas, y forzadas sus mujeres.

17 B ehold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not look for silver, nor covet gold.

He aquí que yo despierto contra ellos a los medos, que no buscarán la plata, ni codiciarán oro.

18 T hey shall shoot at the young boys with bows, and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare the sons.

Y con arcos tirarán a los niños, y no tendrán misericordia del fruto del vientre, ni su ojo perdonará a los hijos.

19 ¶ And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

Y Babilonia, hermosura de reinos y ornamento de la grandeza de los caldeos, será como Sodoma y Gomorra, a las que trastornó Dios.

20 I t shall never again be inhabited; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation; neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there, neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

Nunca más será habitada, ni morará en ella de generación en generación; ni hincará allí tienda el árabe, ni pastores tendrán allí majada;

21 B ut wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures, and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

mas dormirán allí bestias fieras; y sus casas se llenarán de hurones; allí habitarán hijas del búho, y allí saltarán sátiros.

22 A nd the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their palaces, and dragons in their pleasant palaces; and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

Y en sus palacios gritarán gatos cervales; y dragones en sus casas de deleite; y abocado está a venir su tiempo, y sus días no se alargarán.
