1 ¶ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men,

¶ Amonesto pues, ante todo, a que se hagan rogativas, oraciones, peticiones, acciones de gracias, por todos los hombres;

2 f or kings, and for all that are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and integrity.

por los reyes y por todos los que están en eminencia: que vivamos quieta y reposadamente en toda piedad e integridad.

3 F or this is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour,

Porque esto es lo bueno y agradable delante del Dios Salvador nuestro;

4 w ho desires that all men be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth.

el cual quiere que todos los hombres sean salvos, y que vengan al conocimiento de la verdad.

5 F or there is only one God and likewise only one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

Porque hay un solo Dios, asimismo un solo Mediador entre Dios y los hombres, el hombre Cristo Jesús,

6 w ho gave himself in ransom for all, the testimony of which was confirmed at the time,

el cual se dio a sí mismo en redención por todos: el testimonio del cual fue confirmado en su tiempo;

7 o f which I am ordained a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ and do not lie), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

del cual yo soy puesto por predicador y apóstol (digo verdad en Cristo, no miento), maestro de los gentiles en fidelidad y verdad.

8 I desire, therefore, that the men in every place, pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and strife.

Quiero, pues, que los varones oren en todo lugar, levantando manos limpias, sin ira ni contienda.

9 ¶ In like manner also that the women adorn themselves in an honest manner, with shyness and modesty, not with ostentatious hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing

¶ Asimismo también las mujeres, ataviándose de manera honesta, con pudor y modestia; no con peinado ostentoso, u oro, o perlas, o vestidos costosos,

10 b ut with good works (as becomes women professing godliness).

sino de buenas obras, como conviene a mujeres que profesan piedad.

11 L et the woman learn, becoming silent in all subjection.

La mujer aprenda, callando con toda sujeción.

12 F or I do not allow a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over a mature man, but to be at rest.

Porque no permito a una mujer enseñar, ni tomar autoridad sobre el varón, sino estar reposada.

13 F or Adam was formed first, then Eve.

Porque Adán fue formado primero; luego Eva;

14 A nd Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived in the rebellion;

y Adán no fue engañado, sino la mujer fue engañada en la rebelión;

15 n otwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if she continues in faith and charity and sanctification and modesty.

pero se salvará engendrando hijos, si permaneciere en la fe y caridad y en la santificación, y modestia.
