1 ¶ The beginning of the gospel of Jesus, the Christ, Son of God,

¶ Comienza el Evangelio de Jesús, el Cristo, hijo de Dios.

2 a s it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.

Como está escrito en Isaías el profeta: He aquí yo envío a mi mensajero delante de tu faz, que apareje tu camino delante de ti.

3 T he voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord; make his paths straight.

Voz del que clama en el desierto: Aparejad el camino del Señor; enderezad sus veredas.

4 J ohn baptized in the wilderness and preached the baptism of repentance for remission of sins.

Bautizaba Juan en el desierto, y predicaba el bautismo del arrepentimiento para remisión de pecados.

5 A nd there went out unto him all the land of Judaea and those of Jerusalem and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

Y salía a él toda la provincia de Judea, y los de Jerusalén; y eran todos, bautizados por él en el río del Jordán, confesando sus pecados.

6 J ohn was clothed with camel’s hair and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he ate locusts and wild honey

Juan andaba vestido de pelos de camello, y con un cinto de cuero alrededor de sus lomos; y comía langostas y miel silvestre.

7 a nd preached, saying, There comes one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.

Y predicaba, diciendo: Viene tras mí el que es más poderoso que yo, al cual no soy digno de desatar encorvado la correa de sus zapatos.

8 I indeed have baptized you with water, but he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit.

Yo a la verdad os he bautizado con agua; mas él os bautizará con Espíritu Santo.

9 ¶ And it came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth a city of Galilee and was baptized of John in the Jordan.

¶ Aconteció en aquellos días, que Jesús vino de Nazaret de Galilea, y fue bautizado por Juan en el Jordán.

10 A nd as soon as he was come out of the water, John saw the heavens opened and the Spirit like a dove descending and resting upon him;

Y tan pronto subió del agua, Juan vio abrirse los cielos, y al Espíritu como paloma, que descendía (y reposaba) sobre él.

11 a nd there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my dear Son, in whom I delight.

Y hubo una voz de los cielos que decía: Tú eres mi Hijo amado; en ti tomo contentamiento.

12 A nd immediately the Spirit drove him into the wilderness.

Y luego el Espíritu Santo le impulsó al desierto.

13 A nd he was there in the wilderness forty days and forty nights and was tempted of Satan and was with the wild beasts, and the angels ministered unto him.

Y estuvo allí en el desierto cuarenta días (y cuarenta noches) y era tentado de Satanás; y estaba con las bestias fieras; y los ángeles le servían.

14 ¶ Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God

¶ Mas después que Juan fue encarcelado, Jesús vino a Galilea, predicando el Evangelio del Reino de Dios,

15 a nd saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent ye and believe the gospel.

Y diciendo: El tiempo es cumplido; y el Reino de Dios está cerca: arrepentíos, y creed al Evangelio.

16 N ow as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers.

Y pasando junto al mar de Galilea, vio a Simón, y a Andrés su hermano, que echaban la red en el mar; porque eran pescadores.

17 A nd Jesus said unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Y les dijo Jesús: Venid en pos de mí, y haré que seáis pescadores de hombres.

18 A nd straightway they forsook their nets and followed him.

Y luego, dejadas sus redes, le siguieron.

19 A nd when he had gone a little further from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.

Y pasando de allí un poco más adelante, vio a Jacobo, hijo de Zebedeo, y a Juan su hermano, también ellos en el navío, que aderezaban las redes.

20 A nd straightway he called them; and leaving their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, they went after him.

Y luego los llamó; y dejando a su padre Zebedeo en el barco con los jornaleros, fueron en pos de él.

21 A nd they entered into Capernaum, and straightway on the sabbath days he entered into the synagogue and taught.

Entraron en Capernaum; y luego los sábados, entrando en la sinagoga, enseñaba.

22 A nd they marvelled at his learning, for he taught them as one that had power with him, and not as the scribes.

Y se admiraban de su doctrina; porque les enseñaba como quien tiene potestad, y no como los escribas.

23 ¶ And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out,

¶ Y había en la sinagoga de ellos un hombre con espíritu inmundo, el cual dio voces,

24 s aying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

diciendo: ¡Ah! ¿Qué tienes con nosotros, Jesús Nazareno? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Sé quién eres: el Santo de Dios.

25 A nd Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be silent, and come out of him.

Y Jesús le riñó, diciendo: Enmudece, y sal de él.

26 A nd the unclean spirit tore him and cried with a loud voice and came out of him.

Y el espíritu inmundo, sacudiéndolo con violencia, y clamando a gran voz, salió de él.

27 A nd they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? What new doctrine is this? for he commands the unclean spirits with power, and they obey him.

Y todos se maravillaron, de tal manera que inquirían entre sí, diciendo: ¿Qué es esto? ¿Qué nueva doctrina es ésta, que con potestad aun a los espíritus inmundos manda, y le obedecen?

28 A nd immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

Vino luego su fama por toda la provincia alrededor de Galilea.

29 ¶ And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

¶ Y luego saliendo de la sinagoga, vinieron a casa de Simón y de Andrés, con Jacobo y Juan.

30 B ut Simon’s mother-in-law lay sick of a fever, and soon they told him of her.

Y la suegra de Simón estaba acostada con fiebre; y le hablaron luego de ella.

31 A nd he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up; and the fever left her by and by, and she ministered unto them.

Entonces llegando él, la tomó de su mano y la levantó; y luego la dejó la fiebre, y les servía.

32 I n the evening, when the sun was down, they brought unto him all that were diseased and those that were possessed with devils.

Y cuando fue la tarde, cuando el sol se puso, traían a él todos los que tenían mal, y endemoniados;

33 A nd all the city was gathered together at the door.

y toda la ciudad se juntó a la puerta.

34 A nd he healed many that were sick of diverse diseases and cast out many devils and suffered not the devils to speak because they knew him.

Y sanó a muchos que estaban enfermos de diversas enfermedades, y echó fuera muchos demonios; y no dejaba hablar a los demonios porque le conocían.

35 A nd in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place and prayed there.

Levantándose muy de mañana, aún muy de noche, salió y se fue a un lugar desierto, y allí oraba.

36 A nd Simon and those that were with him followed after him.

Y le siguió Simón, y los que estaban con él;

37 A nd when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

Y hallándole, le dicen: Todos te buscan.

38 A nd he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns that I may preach there also, for truly I came forth for that purpose.

Y les dice: Vamos a los lugares vecinos, para que predique también allí; porque para esto he venido.

39 A nd he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee and cast out devils.

Y predicaba en las sinagogas de ellos en toda Galilea, y echaba fuera los demonios.

40 ¶ And a leper came to him, beseeching him and kneeling down to him and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

¶ Y un leproso vino a él, rogándole; e hincada la rodilla, le dice: Si quieres, puedes limpiarme.

41 A nd Jesus, having mercy on him, put forth his hand and touched him and said unto him, I will; be thou clean.

Y Jesús, teniendo misericordia de él, extendió su mano, y le tocó, y le dice: Quiero, sé limpio.

42 A nd as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was clean.

Y así que hubo él hablado, la lepra se fue luego de aquel, y fue limpio.

43 A nd he straitly charged him and forthwith sent him away

Entonces le apercibió, y le despidió luego,

44 a nd said unto him, See thou say nothing to any man, but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

y le dice: Mira, no digas a nadie nada; sino ve, muéstrate al sacerdote, y ofrece por tu limpieza lo que Moisés mandó, para testimonio a ellos.

45 B ut he went out and began to publish it much and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places; and they came to him from every quarter.

Mas ido él, comenzó a publicarlo mucho, y a divulgar el hecho, de manera que ya Jesús no podía entrar manifiestamente en la ciudad, sino que estaba fuera en los lugares desiertos; y venían a él de todas partes.
