1 ¶ My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my intelligence;

¶ Hijo mío, está atento a mi sabiduría, y a mi inteligencia inclina tu oído;

2 t hat thou may keep council and that thy lips may conserve knowledge.

para que guardes consejo, y tus labios conserven la ciencia.

3 F or the lips of the strange woman drop as a honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil,

Porque los labios de la mujer extraña destilan miel, y su paladar es más blando que el aceite;

4 B ut her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.

mas su fin es amargo como el ajenjo, agudo como espada de dos filos.

5 H er feet go down to death, her steps uphold Sheol,

Sus pies descienden a la muerte; sus pasos sustentan el Seol;

6 l est thou should ponder the path of life, her ways are unstable; thou shalt not know them.

si no pesares el camino de vida, sus caminos son inestables; no los conocerás.

7 H ear me now therefore, O ye sons, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.

Ahora pues, hijos, oídme, y no os apartéis de las razones de mi boca.

8 R emove thy way far from her, and do not come near the door of her house,

Aleja de ella tu camino, y no te acerques a la puerta de su casa;

9 l est thou give thine honour unto others and thy years unto the cruel,

para que no des a los extraños tu honor, y tus años al cruel;

10 l est strangers be filled with thy wealth, and thy labours be in the house of a stranger,

para que no se harten los extraños de tu fuerza, y tus trabajos estén en casa del extraño;

11 a nd thou mourn at the last when thy flesh and thy body are consumed

y gimas en tus postrimerías, cuando se consumiere tu carne y tu cuerpo,

12 a nd say, How have I hated chastening and my heart despised reproof

y digas: ¡Cómo aborrecí el castigo, y mi corazón menospreció la reprensión;

13 a nd have not obeyed the voice of those who chastened me, nor inclined my ear to those that instructed me!

y no oí la voz de los que me castigaban; y a los que me enseñaban no incliné mi oído!

14 I have been in almost every kind of evil, in the midst of society and of the congregation.

Casi en todo mal he estado, en medio de la sociedad y de la congregación.

15 ¶ Drink waters out of thine own cistern and running waters out of thine own well.

¶ Bebe el agua de tu propia cisterna, y las corrientes de tu propio pozo.

16 L et thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of thy waters in the streets.

Rebosan por fuera tus fuentes, en las plazas los ríos de tus aguas.

17 L et them be only thine own and not for strangers with thee.

Sean para ti solo, y no para los extraños contigo.

18 T hy fountain shall be blessed; and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

Será bendito tu manantial; y alégrate de la mujer de tu juventud.

19 L et her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love, without eyes for anyone else.

Como cierva de amores y graciosa gacela, sus pechos te satisfagan en todo tiempo; y en su amor andarás ciego de continuo, sin fijar tus ojos en nadie más.

20 A nd why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a woman belonging to someone else, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

¿Y por qué, hijo mío, andarás ciego con la ajena, y abrazarás el seno de la extraña?

21 F or the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he weighs all his goings.

Pues que los caminos del hombre están ante los ojos del SEÑOR, ¡y él pesa todas sus veredas!

22 H is own iniquities shall take hold of the wicked, and he shall be imprisoned with the cords of his sins.

Sus propias iniquidades prenderán al impío, y con las cuerdas de su pecado será detenido.

23 H e shall die because he did not submit to chastening; and due to the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

El morirá por no haberse sometido al castigo; y por la grandeza de su locura, errará.
