1 ¶ My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my intelligence;

Сине мой, внимавай в мъдростта ми. Приклони ухото си към разума ми,

2 t hat thou may keep council and that thy lips may conserve knowledge.

за да опазиш разсъдливост и устните ти да пазят знание.

3 F or the lips of the strange woman drop as a honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil,

Защото от устните на чуждата жена капе мед и устата ѝ са по-меки от дървено масло;

4 B ut her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.

но краят ѝ е горчив като пелин, остър като изострен от двете страни меч.

5 H er feet go down to death, her steps uphold Sheol,

Краката ѝ слизат към смърт, стъпките ѝ стигат до ада,

6 l est thou should ponder the path of life, her ways are unstable; thou shalt not know them.

така че тя никога не намира пътя на живота; нейните пътеки са непостоянни и тя не знае накъде водят.

7 H ear me now therefore, O ye sons, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.

И така, синове, слушайте мен и не отстъпвайте от думите ми.

8 R emove thy way far from her, and do not come near the door of her house,

Отдалечи пътя си от нея и не се приближавай до вратата на къщата ѝ,

9 l est thou give thine honour unto others and thy years unto the cruel,

да не би да дадеш жизнеността си на други и годините си - на безмилостните;

10 l est strangers be filled with thy wealth, and thy labours be in the house of a stranger,

да не би да се наситят чужди от имота ти и трудът ти да отиде в чужд дом,

11 a nd thou mourn at the last when thy flesh and thy body are consumed

а ти да охкаш в сетните си дни, когато плътта ти и тялото ти се изтощят,

12 a nd say, How have I hated chastening and my heart despised reproof

и да казваш: Как можах да пренебрегна поуката и сърцето ми да презре изобличението,

13 a nd have not obeyed the voice of those who chastened me, nor inclined my ear to those that instructed me!

и аз да не послушам гласа на учителите си, нито да приклоня ухото си към наставниците си!

14 I have been in almost every kind of evil, in the midst of society and of the congregation.

Малко остана да изпадна във всяко зло сред събранието и множеството.

15 ¶ Drink waters out of thine own cistern and running waters out of thine own well.

Пий вода от своя водоем и онази, която извира от твоя кладенец.

16 L et thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of thy waters in the streets.

Вън ли да се изливат изворите ти и водните ти потоци - по улиците?

17 L et them be only thine own and not for strangers with thee.

Нека бъдат само на теб, а не и на чужди заедно с тебе.

18 T hy fountain shall be blessed; and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

Да бъде благословен твоят извор. И се весели с жената на младостта си.

19 L et her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love, without eyes for anyone else.

Тя да ти бъде като любима кошута и мила сърна: нейните гърди да те задоволяват по всяко време; и се възхищавай винаги на нейната любов.

20 A nd why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a woman belonging to someone else, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

Понеже, сине мой, защо ти е да се възхищаваш от чужда жена и да прегръщаш обятията на чуждата?

21 F or the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he weighs all his goings.

Защото пътищата на човека са пред очите на Господа и Той внимателно измерва всичките му пътеки.

22 H is own iniquities shall take hold of the wicked, and he shall be imprisoned with the cords of his sins.

Нечестивият ще бъде хванат от собствените си беззакония и с въжетата на своя грях ще бъде държан.

23 H e shall die because he did not submit to chastening; and due to the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

Той ще умре от своето нежелание да се поучи; и от голямото си безумие ще се заблуди.
