1 ¶ Belshazzar the king made a great banquet to a thousand of his lords, and against the thousand he drank wine.

Цар Валтасар направи голям пир на хиляда от големците си и пиеше вино пред хилядата.

2 B elshazzar, under the influence of the wine, commanded that they bring the vessels of gold and of silver which Nebuchadnezzar his father had brought from the temple of Jerusalem; that the king and his princes, his wives and his concubines, might drink with them.

Когато пиеше виното, Валтасар заповяда да донесат златните и сребърните съдове, които дядо му Навуходоносор беше задигнал от храма, който беше в Йерусалим, за да пият с тях царят и големците му, жените му и наложниците му.

3 T hen they brought the vessels of gold that they had brought from the temple of the house of God which was in Jerusalem; and the king and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank with them.

Тогава донесоха златните съдове, които бяха задигнати от храма на Божия дом, който беше в Йерусалим; с тях пиеха царят и големците му, жените му и наложниците му.

4 T hey drank wine and praised the gods of gold and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

Пиеха вино и хвалеха златните, сребърните, медните, железните, дървените и каменните богове.

5 I n that same hour some fingers of a man’s hand came forth and wrote in front of the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the palm of the hand that wrote.

В същия час се появиха пръсти на човешка ръка, които пишеха срещу светилника, по мазилката на стената на царския палат; и царят видя тази част от ръката, която пишеше.

6 T hen the king became pale, and his thoughts troubled him, and the girdings of his loins were unloosed, and his knees smote one against another.

Тогава изгледът на лицето на царя се измени и мислите му го смущаваха, така че ставите на кръста му се разхлабиха и колената му се удряха едно о друго.

7 T he king cried in a loud voice that they bring in the magicians, the Chaldeans, and the fortune-tellers. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whoever shall read this writing and show me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold about his neck and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Царят извика със силен глас да въведат вражалците, халдейците и астролозите, на които вавилонски мъдреци царят каза: Който прочете това писание и ми яви значението му, ще бъде облечен в багреница, златна огърлица ще се окачи около шията му и ще бъде един от тримата, които ще владеят царството.

8 T hen all the king’s wise men came in, but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king its interpretation.

И така, влязоха всичките царски мъдреци; но не можаха да прочетат написаното, нито да явят на царя значението му.

9 T hen king Belshazzar was greatly troubled, and his colour was changed, and his princes were upset.

Тогава цар Валтасар се смути много, изгледът на лицето му се измени и големците му се смутиха.

10 ¶ Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and of his princes, came into the banquet room. The queen spoke and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be pale.

Поради думите на царя и на големците му царицата влезе в къщата на пируването и проговори: Царю, да си жив довека! Да не те смущават мислите ти, нито да се изменя лицето ти.

11 T here is a man in thy kingdom, in whom lives the spirit of the holy God; and in the days of thy father light and intelligence and wisdom, like the knowledge of God, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar, thy father, made prince over all the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and fortune-tellers; thus did thy father, the king,

Има човек в царството ти, в когото е духът на святите богове; и в дните на дядо ти в него се намериха светлина, разум и мъдрост като мъдростта на боговете; и дядо ти, казвам, царю, го постави началник на влъхвите, вражалците, халдейците и астролозите,

12 b ecause Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, was found to have a more excellent spirit and greater knowledge and understanding interpreting dreams, unraveling questions, and dissolving doubts. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show thee the interpretation.

защото превъзходен дух и знание, разум за тълкуване на сънища, изясняване на гатанки и разрешаване на загадки се намираха у този Даниил, когото царят преименува Валтасасар. Сега нека бъде повикан Даниил и той ще покаже значението на написаното.

13 T hen Daniel was brought in before the king. And the king spoke and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, who art of the sons of the captivity of Judah, whom my father brought out of Judea?

Тогава Даниил беше въведен пред царя. Царят му каза: Ти ли си онзи Даниил, който си от пленените юдеи, които дядо ми, царят, доведе от Юдея?

14 I have heard of thee, that the spirit of the holy God is in thee and that light and understanding and greater wisdom was found in thee.

Чух за тебе, че духът на боговете бил в теб и че светлина, разум и превъзходна мъдрост се намирали в теб.

15 A nd now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me that they should read this writing and make known unto me its interpretation, but they could not show the interpretation of the thing:

И сега бяха въведени пред мене мъдреците и вражалците, за да прочетат това писание и ми явят значението му; но те не можаха да разкрият значението му.

16 A nd I have heard of thee, that thou canst declare that which is in doubt and unravel difficulties: now if thou canst read this writing and show me its interpretation, thou shalt be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold about thy neck and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Но аз чух за тебе, че си могъл да тълкуваш и да разрешаваш загадки; и така, ако можеш да прочетеш написаното и да ми кажеш значението му, ще бъдеш облечен в багреница, златна огърлица ще се окачи около шията ти и ти ще бъдеш един от тримата, които ще владеят царството.

17 T hen Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be for thyself and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king and show him the interpretation.

Тогава Даниил отговори пред царя: Подаръците ти нека останат за теб и дай на друг наградите си; все пак аз ще прочета на царя написаното и ще му явя значението му.

18 O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father the kingdom and the greatness and the glory and the magnificence:

Царю, Всевишният Бог даде на дядо ти Навуходоносор царство и величие, сила и чест;

19 a nd by the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him; whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he humbled.

и поради величието, което му даде, всички племена, народи и езици трепереха и се бояха пред него; когото искаше, убиваше, и когото искаше, опазваше жив; когото искаше, възвисяваше, и когото искаше, унижаваше.

20 B ut when his heart made itself arrogant, and his spirit hardened itself in pride, he was deposed from the throne of his kingdom, and they took his glory from him:

Но когато се надигна сърцето му и духът му закоравя, за да постъпва гордо, той беше свален от царския си престол, славата му бе отнета от него

21 a nd he was driven from among the sons of men; and his heart was put with the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they made him eat grass like an ox, and his body was bathed with the dew of heaven until he understood that the most high God takes rule of the kingdom of men and that he appoints over it whomever he will.

и беше изгонен измежду хората; сърцето му стана като на животните и жилището му беше между дивите осли; хранеха го с трева като говедата и тялото му се мокреше от небесната роса, докато призна, че Всевишният Бог владее над царството на хората и поставя над него когото иска.

22 A nd thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

А ти, негов внук, Валтасаре, не си смирил сърцето си, макар и да знаеше всичко това,

23 b ut hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou and thy princes, thy wives and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; furthermore, thou hast praised gods of silver and of gold, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand is thy soul and whose are all thy ways, thou hast never honoured.

а си се надигнал против небесния Господ; и донесоха пред тебе съдовете на дома Му, с които пиехте вино ти и големците ти, жените и наложниците ти; и ти славослови сребърните, златните, медните, железните, дървените и каменните богове, които не виждат, нито чуват, нито разбират; а Бога, в Чиято ръка е дишането ти и в Чиято власт са всички твои пътища, не си възвеличил.

24 T hen from his presence was sent the palm of the hand that sculpted this writing.

Затова от Него е била изпратена частта от ръката и това писание бе написано.

25 A nd the writing that he sculpted is, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

И ето писанието, което бе написано: М'не, М'не, Т'кел, упарсин.

26 T his is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God has audited thy kingdom and finished it.

Ето и значението му: М\'не: Бог е преброил дните на твоето царство и го е свършил;

27 T EKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances and art found wanting.

Т'кел: Претеглен си на везните и си бил намерен недостатъчен;

28 P ERES; Thy kingdom has been broken and is given to the Medes and Persians.

П'рес: Царството ти бе разделено и бе дадено на мидяните и персите.

29 T hen Belshazzar commanded, and they clothed Daniel with purple and put a chain of gold about his neck and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Тогава Валтасар заповяда и облякоха Даниил в багреница, окачиха златна огърлица около шията му и прогласиха за него да бъде един от тримата, които да владеят царството.

30 ¶ That same night Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans was slain.

В същата нощ царят на халдейците Валтасар беше убит.

31 A nd Darius the Median took the kingdom, being sixty-two years old.

И мидянинът Дарий, който беше на около шестдесет и две години, превзе царството.
